Saw the iron and thought, crap! That's not what I need 😢 then you pulled out a needle and thread and showed me why I clicked on this vid. Thank you. I just needed to see how to sew a patch.
Wow. Excellent. As silly as it sounds my mind was blown when I realized you were using the first few knarly stitches were to tack it together. Thanks for the upload.
I like that ❤. I have a pair of "boyfriend overalls" that came with tore out knees but they were only $17! But it bothers me because they are drafty😂. Ive been debating: go practical with matching denim or go cute. This way is cute.
What stitch length and setting on machine? What thread for hand stitching? I’ve sewn for 50 years, yet need to watch others to mend granddaughters jeans, in a popular look.
This is extremely what I want out of a patch repair some that is going to be cute!!! Most other patch repairs I have seen just look hideous afterwards and they would have been better off leaving a hole in the pant.
I'm having the same trouble. I'm hoping turning them inside out? Maybe using iron on interfacing in a picture frame shape, and then hand sewing would be necessary around the very edges of the denim fray if you didn't want your string to get longer. I've watched a few others, maybe stretch material would be good if you have elastic in your jeans? I'm trying to figure this out too so none of this might even work, I just thought I'd throw out a few ideas.
Misp that looks straight forward and you demonstrate it beautifully. Im old fashioned and like to see patches on the outside, can you do a vid for that or is it basically the same as this method but on the opposite side of the fabric?
I'm looking for a machine that is durable, will last long, NO screen/lcd or any other unnecessary electronics (they break, i don't need them, just want simple), has automatic needle-threader, has top-loading bobbin and uses plastic class-15 bobbins. Has all the basic stitches and stretch-stitch for elastics. I'm considering Singer Heavy Duty 4452, as I will need to sew through leather and jeans occasionally. But I heard Singers break a lot (local sewing repair shop told me). Any suggestions pretty please?
You might consider a new Necchi. They're extremely durable and sturdy. I've had mine for years with no issues whatsoever. It's not considered heavy duty but have often been able to sew jean fabrics. I just saw that new manuals are still available.
MicrowaveWalrus the thread (not string) she removed is called a basting stitch. It’s basically done to hold the material in place, it’s not permanent stitching. A basting stitch is often used in an instance where pins may not be possible/practical or with material that’s slippery and could move when sewing on a machine.
Jeff S I guess it’s a good thing there are countless tutorials on how to patch a hold in your jeans. Not every tutorial is appropriate for every skill level. If you’re struggling either ask questions or look for a different video more suited to your level. 🤷🏻♀️
its ok but in Wal-Mart or sawing store can buy a patch that have glue on back side iron it and wont come out and will have a perfect nice clan and effortless job. 😁 try it
I suppose the guys in the sawing store would prefer iron on patches due to the frequency of saws cutting into their garments. Now the folks in the sewing store may prefer sewn on patches!
I have wasted money on those iron-on patches. First, they are stiff and not very flexible. Second, they are tough but the jeans wind up ripping again at the edge of the patch. I would over-lap a new patch and it would eventually rip at the edge of that patch. I had one pair of jeans that I had more money into patching than the jeans were worth.
The hand sewing was just to hold the patch in place temporarily. If you had watched the video all the way through you would have seen that she machine sewed the patch and then removed all the hand the stitching.
Is there any way I can commission you to do this for a pair of jeans I have? Im looking to have a similar project done but I am nowhere near confident enough to handle such a project
Honestly, it's not as tough as it looks. I've only been sewing for the last month or two, and I've been having fun hand repairing my jeans. I don't even have a sewing machine; I just looked for tutorials here on youtube, learned a few stitches, and I patch my jeans just like this. Learn a little embroidery, and you can even add cool details and designs to your stuff, if you're into that. Example: I'm about to add some moons and plants to a pair of pants I've fixed exactly like this, but with fabric that has moons and stars and planets on it. You stop being so worried once you think, "Hm. This pair of jeans won't last forever. They already need repaired. At best, my repair may buy me some time, but these jeans will still eventually wear out beyond what I can fix. If I mess something up, I can take out my stitches, or I can give up and be done with these jeans." With something like this, you're really not going to ruin your stuff, because the stitches you put down can always be torn out. Scissors work if you don't have a seam ripper. It's also a very handy life skill to have. If you master this, you can extend the life of your stuff, and it's just super useful for anyone to know how to do. You can apply it to other stuff if it pops up, like a tear in curtains or even furniture. I swear, learning how to reattach a popped button makes you feel like you have a superpower, because our society these days encourages you to buy cheaply made stuff made to fall apart so you buy more. Repairing stuff is going against that idea, and it's a good thing.
Wow, I was really impressed when you turned the fabric for the patch under and finished those edges!
Saw the iron and thought, crap! That's not what I need 😢 then you pulled out a needle and thread and showed me why I clicked on this vid. Thank you. I just needed to see how to sew a patch.
Great soundtrack! Keeps the mice of my mind at bay!
My ugly ripped jeans now have a really cute patch showing through on the knee. Thank you so much for the video it was very helpful and informative.
Thank you for showing us how you do it! Will definitely try it myself!
Great! I'm glad it helped. :)

You are so welcome!

This is more of “letting us watch you” than you “showing us HOW”. But thanks for the video
Thanks for letting me know
Very deep insight, thanks:)

Hello mam / sir i can't understand the last part of stiching with the machine inner side / outer side want to stich...please reply
I like how you folded the inside of the patch in after. nice touch
Thank you! :)

Thank you so much! The basting makes so much sense! cant wait to try it on my jeans!
Is all the hand sewing basting? What stitch on machine?
Hi, thank you, just what I needed. Good job
God bless and keep you ✝️🙏💚🥀
I love the music you used for this video 😍
This is a great video. My Jean's are to narrow to see on the machine though, do you have any tips for that? Thank you 😊

Came out quite cute though

What's the beat type of thread and stitch to use
u are a master of your craft/art
Thank you! :)
I understand the basic basting stitch. What is it called when you sewed into your basting stitch on the inside?
Wow this was so fast, I thought I had the concept but you just started using the sewing machine. This music is killing me.

I will try to do it, it seems difficult
Use hot glue gun instead. Once done iron it and glue will spread more evenly and stuck for a longer period.
ROTHSSHVILI swear does it work well even if u put it in the washer?
@@Xccord do not use hot glue on your clothes you will damage them

Thanks for sharing this video
why did you take out the string after you sewed it in? i'm lost.

That's because she didn't explain WTF she just did in FF motion. That sucked as far as tutorials go.

Good video, but I’m sorry the music is just too much. Other than that, good video
Turn your sound down.

But this is so much more original! I love it!
Will the patch stay on if you dry them

Ugghh! Nevermind all that. Thanks for posting. I’m clearly out of my depth. Can you say liquid stitch!
From where do I get the designer cloth ???
Go to fabric store and get scrap clith. Or my favorite is to go to a used clothing store and buy a cheap shirt and cut a piece of cloth from it.

What kind of material should be used for patch
sturdier the better i.e. denim canvas fake suede etr.
This is great! Thanks ;)
Sam onella anyone?
Haha yeah
I would rip my jeans accidentally and say that it's fashion who said its a hole. lol!
my holes got so big.it came to the point it started sounding ridiculous to say its fashion...hence why it needs repairing due now lol
I got about 10 iron patches on some of my work jeans. I some for you

Sorry, but it's not possible. This is just a hobby for me. You can try to find a seamstress near you.
