Yes! I hate when I stain or tear (small holes) almost new clothes and I can no longer wear them just because of a small damaged area, very useful video.
As a Muslim girl this is so useful!! I love the whole ripped jean look but haven’t been able to wear them in a modest way- I had no idea iron-on denim was a thing!!! Thank you so much ❤️
as another option if denim patches aren't around, you could get double-sided fusible interfacing at a fabric store (if I did this, I would cut the interfacing in a donut, so that the ripped part did not touch the interfacing, then sandwich it between the denim and the patch, then iron, but you could just do the sandwich without cutting a hole in the interfacing). There are also ways to do invisible (on the outside) stitches, or you could try fabric glue spread (very!) thin.
i love to see this format from creators who actually have good tips instead of made up clickbait stuff!! more clothing repair/alteration vids please! (:
@@lifexfashionxbeautytoo late lol I was on meds and gained weight-- didnt notice and now there is a hole. Ill try to stitch and patch. Ugh Those are nice brand ( 120) so dont want to my throw out
I know this isn't very helpful afterwards lol but when I realize that I'm wearing a certain pair of jeans a lot I immediately use iron on patches on the inner thighs. You can also do this when you first notice the material thinning before a hole forms!
Using a patch of fabric similar to the colour of the jeans on the inside and sewing over it in all directions with a jean-coloured thread works for me. You can look up how to darn jeans on YT. I also find that jeans with a topstitch on the inner seam last longer. In the end, the holes on the inner thigh are kind of inevitable so I just try to buy decent quality jeans and not wear them when I'm at home. And if they rip, darning lets me wear them for a little while longer, I just have to be more careful about not ripping them.
@@TheWeirdjudd not on the inner thigh area buddy, it's not gonna look cute, it'll add bulk to where your thighs are already touching, and all round not a cute look to have patches just in your inner thigh area!!
Thank you for that simple instruction on how to ladder stitch! I just fixed a tear in my husband's jeans thanks to that and I feel so proud of myself for accomplishing it! This was the highlight of my day, thank you! 😊
I'm not good at sewing but have been taught how to sew when I was just a kid but didn't know or maybe don't remember or wasn't shown the ladder stitch. I like it. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this content, I can't wait to try and fix the straight tear in my daughters FAVORITE jeans with your simplified instruction. This mama, with no sewing experience, is excited and confident from your video! Have a lovely day!

Thank you thank you thank. My 15 year old granddaughter has been nagging me to fix her favourite ripped jeans for months. Now I know how to do it. I've subscribed to your channel. I'm a fan 👍💃
I repair and alter clothes for a living. What I do if use iron on interfacing on the back, rounded corners. (Like the first one here) I like to make it past the hole at least a half inch around to prevent further ripping. Then I darn the good side with a sewing machine. I blend in the stitches with an exact colour match. (Always go darker rather than lighter if no exact match.) I make sure the lines of stitching are long enough to go past the interfacing a little to prevent lifting. The results are pretty good. All these methods listed are good for a no machine fix. But if you have one, I suggest trying this way as it prevents bulk, but keeps it strong.
Im so happy that you made this video!! The hole on the knee in my favourite jean has torn all the way through and i cant find this exact jean anymore. Thank you!!
Last week I straight-up ripped the biggest hole in the bum of my favourite (basically only) pair of jeans. I’ve been devastated. I feel like this video was made for me. Can’t wait to fix them!
THANK YOU!!!! I've got 4 pairs of still-good jeans that I just need to repair the knees' worn holes instead of going out & jean shopping, and this has me fired up to do that. Lol ironically I came across more than one clip where the aim is to create holes in your jeans, and I'm over here trying to go the other way.
I watched this video when it originally came out. Today I noticed a vertical rip in the same place as fix #1. Glad this video was my first result when I googled how to fix it.
great info. ive been meaning to fix up the holes in favorite pair for forever. distressed jeans and putting them on in a rush, in the dark is a terrible combo.
Love your iron Kelsey! Great to see you do some cool stitching! That's what I did back in the 70's and also alot of patching for my son when he was little in the 90's! For your last repair to reinforce it, you could do a button hole stitch all around the big hole. It will keep it stronger and from fraying less and coming apart again!😀💖👖
I neeeeeeeeeded this video! I always get a hole in the crotch of my jeans because of wear, and even though the rest of the jean in fine, I can't wear it 😩 I'll definitely be using these tips!

wonderful serendipity: i have the SAME citizens of humanity jeans with the SAME vertical rip...i repaired them using the ladder stitch method this morning and i've never been so happy to bring a pair of jeans back from the dead!!! hoping the repair lasts!
What kind of white cotton thread did you use to mimic the distressed cotton "torn" look? Also what needle size do you use. Thank you! Great and helpful info!!!
Hi. What is the specific brand, type and color of thread used to straight stitch across the patched hole in the second example? It looks thicker than a standard spool of thread and in a round ball shape. Thanks so much.
So glad I found this!! I have one pair of jeans that is just magical - fits me so well, super comfy, stretchy, amazing fit & color that are honestly irreplaceable - but they've developed a hole and I was at a loss for how to fix them! I'm so glad I found this, I never knew iron-on denim patches existed but that's pretty genius. I'm definitely going to be finally fixing my jeans over the weekend. Thank you!!!

Nice work~!! Now if I only knew how to sew. I've several pairs of jeans that needs these repairs and they would get an extended life indefinitely... I guess it's time to watch sewiny 101 or sewing for dummies...
I wish this video came out sooner! I love this. Hahahaha could've helped with how I repaired my fave pair. As for suggestions I'd love to learn all about paints and what type works best where? Or how to repair the covers on the foam of my headphones (they're tearing and I don't want to buy new ones especially since they still work real good)? Sending all the love Kelsey and Becky! 🥰
I have been doing this ALL WRONG!!! I wish this video was created YEARS ago when I would painstakingly seam rip a jean’s factory-made stitches to open up the knee area, use jean scraps as a patch on the wrong side of fabric pinned in place, use my sewing machine to stitch the patch in place, and then stitch the sides back up again…I honestly HATED this tedious method, but it was only way that I knew how. I’m SO thankful I see this as EASIER methods to repairing jeans! The next time I’m out in town, I’m stopping a craft shop to pick up thicker white thread and denim patches! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!
Thank you so much for the helpful video. I had to sew my sons work pants and after I watched your video I was confident enough to patch his pants. It was my first sewing project. My other son just purchased a beginners sewing machine for me. ❤️🇨🇦
Thanks for this, Kelsey!!! This was really helpful! I have a lot of jeans I can work on with this! Can you also show how to fix broken pants/slacks zippers? Thank you so much!!
Awesome video, thanks! Couple questions: On method number two, when putting the cardboard on the other side of the hole so the iron on won’t stick to the jeans, doesn’t it stick to the cardboard, and wouldn’t that make it hard to peel that cardboard off? Last time I had iron on patches on my jeans, as a kid decades ago, they always wore really uncomfortably, and would peel off overtime. Are modern iron on patches more comfortable and stay on longer? Thanks!
That is indeed what happened to me. 😭 The card got suck and it was a real pain to fix it. Also recreating those threads was a bad idea. In one case I used the iron-on-patch directly on the hole, wihtout cutting away any threads, and that was a way better idea.

You can also make any fabric iron on with heat bond and experiment with fun patterns and colors behind the holes! 💕
if you can't find any iron on denim, I would think a matching fabric and some fabric glue could work too?
as another option if denim patches aren't around, you could get double-sided fusible interfacing at a fabric store (if I did this, I would cut the interfacing in a donut, so that the ripped part did not touch the interfacing, then sandwich it between the denim and the patch, then iron, but you could just do the sandwich without cutting a hole in the interfacing).
