I've been farming all my life. Im 56 years old Lost my dad 40 years ago. I've been on my county FSA board. I totally agree with you. 2 or 3 years of no government money would clear out the ASSSHOLES. Will said Brian.
A farmer myself, I agree with no subsidies. The government has funded unlimited risk. There are plenty of farmers that have good business practices that would fill in and take over land lost by people with poor business practices.
Would it get you out as well I am small farmer I get no subsidies don’t want any. But like Brian I bet your ass you’ll be in line just like him at subsidy gravy train you dolt
The problem with farmers is greed and a lack of not sticking together to ensure grain price are a decent price. I been a farmer a god damn long time I remember in 1970’s when tried to get farmers to unionize to help grain prices.
I could not agree more with you on subsidies. I am a 71 year old dairy and grain farmer in Northwest Illinois and just wish the government would leave us alone and let the conditions sort out the chaff.
@@WarnerFarms can afford what? Why would you tell anyone how many acres you farm? In my area farmers are outbidding one another and paying $4-450/ acre rent.

Brian I'm close to your dads age and farmed all my life. About 15-20 years ago I signed my farm out of all farm programs because the one time I thought I should qualify for crop insurance payment i was denied .So I decided to sign out and I have stay in business just fine and paid every bill on time . I'm with you get the government out of farming
im not a farmer but enjoy watching how the farming industry works and trying to understand it and thank you for your honesty and we all need each others jobs to make the world to work!
There's a reason why I like watching your videos! I agree with you 100% on subsidies! I've made more than my fare share of business mistakes when operating my farm. But they're my mistakes my responsibility. A person has to try to correct the mistakes and hopefully learn from them and move forward. We don't need subsidies every time it gets tough. there's plenty of farmers to take over the land of poor operators.
Brian ! As a framer from a country which member of the European Union - we are getting subsidies from the government ! But I am with you 100 percent agree on your opinion I wish we never had a subsidy ! Of course we apply for it because everyone is doing it and if we don't we would loose our competitiveness vs who do. But I can tell you with these subsidies we are getting a ridiculous amount of unnecessary bureaucracy !! I wish they never had these subsidies because to comply those rules cost us a shit load of extra expense . And it is never good when the government sticks its feet in your business ! My friends from the city always keep telling us that how good is for us because we getting subsidised - normally I telling them a same - we are getting subsidised for you to have cheap food ! Farmers just want fair money for their investment and work !! If we would get that from the commodity prices - we would be more than happy !
Brian, I agree with you 100% it happened to us as a dairy farmer years ago all the programs do like you said is keep people in business who should not be in business. So you are absolutely right with your opinion, but like you said our government knows best yeah right!!!!
I'm not a farmer. I watch your videos' along with others. I've learned a lot about it. Try to explain to people about prices etc. Thank you for the continuing education.
I understand your point and where you're coming from. We've had 5 years of bad weather with hurricanes, floods , droughts, and more hurricanes. My neighbor is selling out to the developers and walking away.
I finally found a farmer from the south that is feeling the pain. we don't need to lose our farmland to the developers but that's what is happing. and not a darn one of these farmers wonting to weed out the weak farmers would come down here and farm our small deer infested fields and lose money on them not to mention the natural disaster's we have faced.
Totally agree with you ,, I’m a small farmer and never took any government subsidy,, even crop insurance, like you said making business decisions is very important!! Merry Christmas
In 1985 at the height of the Farm Debt Crisis, lots of farmers went broke, however, it was just about to be a great reset, instead they created a huge farm program. All that did is make farm (land) prices go up, and now farm values are tied to government subsidies.
Thanks for the video. Government subsidies have their place but not always done correctly. Haven’t seen the guide lines for this round. Thanks Brian. Could talk hours on government subsidies. Oh my. The Iowa farm boy. Thanks Brian.
I agree with you Brian. I understand some areas have had a bad year on top of high input costs and lower prices. We are no different. Our yields were way down this year due to excess rain and folding. But good operations should. Have enough crop insurance to cover the loss. If they do not that’s a business decision they made. We always have enough insurance to cover our inputs. We don’t need this money. None of the things you talked about will drop now because farmers will have the money to pay whatever they ask. The only way things will drop is if farmers can’t pay. Their philosophy is charge what people will pay.
Thank you for thinking smart . We need more farmers like you. I wish I had the way to taken over me family farm . Keep up the good work your videos are fun to show my 96 year Grandpa framer . Merry Christmas
Great video Brian. Not being a farmer but spent most of my life living in a farming community, I admire and appreciate farming. Being educated on farming practices, equipment and the business side is why I watch these videos. Thank you for what you do and have a very Merry Christmas.
Hi Brian, I milk 55 cows and run 500 acres. I total agree with you on the subsidies. I want to earn my living the honest way and not from government handouts. It can be hard some years but that teaches us to do better and be more efficient with what we have. Merry Christmas and to all and may the new year be better.
Find this interesting knowing in calif subsidies are big here, farmers love em, plan for them, use them, say no one can survive without them.. so this conversation is interesting and educational.

I'm with you,Brian. I've never applied for or taken any subsidy funds. The govt should not be in the farming business. The free market will take care of itsself. I personally feel the control they have is mostly to let speculators cash in on our hard work.

My mother still owns the Family farm in Minnesota. Her land is rented to local farm family (Father and two of his sons). If government grants are available you would be dumb not to take them. I agree in long run the government subsidies really don't help. The economic truth is farming in now big business. It takes many millions of dollars of facilities, land and equipment. Only financially sophisticated owners can thrive in the current environment. Subsidies help the weak survive a few additional years. Keep up the good work from the videos it seems like your family finds ways to get on the same page and can make a few bucks even in poor weather years.

Well said COMPLETELY agree 525 acres in WI operated by myself
