- For 2025 Genesis has updated their popular GV80 SUV with more tech, more features, and some unique interior trim options. The bulk of the GV80 is the same, and that's just fine by me. Next week I'll be able to talk about how it drives, but until then... Let's take a walk around the SUV that I think is better than a Lexus RX...

It's always a stunner in that British Racing Green with a saddle interior.
They’ve made enough upgrades for it to stay relevant, but keeping what made the gv80 such a great buy and product. These upgrades have only made it better. Looking forward to the coupe.
Absolutely gorgeous inside and out. These have such a great presence on the road. Wish they offered a higher powered V8 on this for a top trim to compete with the Germans. I will say I’m less of a fan with what Genesis has slowly been doing with decontenting the lower trims while slowly raising prices. Overall I am still very impressed with Genesis products
This looks fantastic. The only issue now is that I need to run down to my local Hyundai dealer to get one.
this car looks gorgeous and luxurious
the old pre-refresh looks more luxurious inside
Humongous single screens ≠ luxury
The Car Tiger Woods Survived in :
"Better than Lexus" umm subjective and questionable but if genesis was only WIDELY more available...finding a Genesis DEALER is like finding a working ice cream machine at Mcdonalds.... gonna be hard to get.... Sure it's nice initially but let's see how the Genesis holds up after the standard 3 year lease period... The GV80 coupe is where it's at but honestly Genesis needs to STEP up their NETWORK for Service etc, I see more TESLA service centers and dealers than I have seen with Genesis...
No it’s objectively better than the RX. It’s a fact not subjective
If you look at what you get in the RX vs gv80 it’s clear the RX comes in well behind the competition
Bro Hyundai makes Genesis... you just go to a hyundai dealership for the services.
@@RedakaiCity that’s a really small price to pay for a car like this
Besides genesis can have the worst dealer experience ever and still produce better quality luxury vehicles than Lexus. Lexus has the best quality luxury vehicle ownership experience but genesis has the best quality luxury vehicles period
Hands down pick this over all Lexus Acura and Infiniti anyday. Love the look and interior
How many have you owned?
If your poor , want an unreliable car, poor resale value , mechanical problems,,,,yes buy it
@@jnmc-vx4fwOnly Lexus fanboy say like this.
@@jnmc-vx4fw If not poor, better just out of here. I am too poor to hate it.
@@kfx3907 only guys that don’t own one say otherwise
I love that new front end. Genesis really make the big grille look work.
Surprised by the amount of chrome which is a bit passé (now its satin chrome or chome delete), but it's well done
She's a Looker for sure! Thx
I love the overall style. But I think there's a bit too much chrome accents on the side profile.
Won't stop talking how the humongous single screen detracts from a truly luxurious interior. Outgoing model was classy and unique while the new one has a dashboard that's seems lifted from the facelifted Tucson/Santa Cruz and Sonata.
I see Bang and Olufsen replaced the Lexicon sound system. Impressive!
It's owned by Samsung. It was only a matter of time before it appeared in a Genesis.
@@johnholst so is Lexicon...
@@yejoonyang9552 I believe they also own JBL and Harmon Kardon too. Pretty good umbrella of audio products!
@@johnholstLexicon and B&O are both under Harman.
B&O is option (only higher end options if I heard correctly).
Quite Interesting to see Genesis ditching Lexicon. What’s with Bang and Olufsen these days? Acura just made the switch too.
Go Alex!
$82,000 masterpiece! Gorgeous and luxurious!
Ludicrous
I can't wait to upgrade my wifes 21 GV80 to this WOW
GENESIS NEEDS A GV90
I have been saying the same thing since the GV80 got launched.
It's coming. Several months worth of spy shots.
GV100!!
This GV80 is 80k plus with a turbocharged V6! A GV90 or GV100 would be 120k plus and would need a bigger newer motor. Not sure a brand that is so new to the market and not yet truly established on so many levels could afford to have 120k models sitting on Hyundai Dealership lots getting serviced by Hyundai Technicians. But I'm sure it would be beautiful! Genesis is knocking it out of the park with their styling.
Genesis needs a convertible.
Idk, am I crazy for maybe wanting a 2024 model? I am not a great fan of the big screens and it doesn’t seem like they’ve made many other major changes.
They need to hurry up and get a hybrid version to market!
Seriously… who has the $$$ to buy all these expensive vehicles?!?
Not many do, that’s why barely see GV80s out and about.
82K fully loaded? Wow, that’s not competitive considering MDX Type S is around 75K.
MDX Type S doesn't make this much power and it's nor RWD biased...
@@AAutoBuyersGuide 355HP still beats 375HP on Drag Races, who cares about HP? Accord with 252HP 2.0T still beats Camry with V6 and over 300HP. Yes, it’s not RWD biased, but it has one of the best AWD, SHAWD. You think 7K is worth the RWD biased?
@blackwhirlwind1245 The MDX interior is leagues behind the GV80. Touchpad based infotainment and piano black is a dealbreaker along with the awful dash layout. Not to mention, the GV80 is more luxurious and feature rich. Acura is premium at best, Genesis is luxury.
@@ishaansaral502”Genesis is luxury” on the outside but just cheap tech on the inside. Bang for buck is Acura.
@@ishaansaral502 if you think Acura is premium, then so does genesis. They are still not German competitors. The price for 2025 MDX hasn’t been announced, but I expect it to have similar prices.
Buying BMW X5 40i XDrive. Thank you very much.
Yes. The same price, and the X5 is a better vehicle from a real luxury dealership. Also, the GV80 reliability is very low. Where is the value in the Genesis?
Biggest miss on the GV80 is the lack of touch lock/unlock on the back door handles. It is also annoying that we don't get the more powerful engine on the non-coupe. It is a nice vehicle, but they are not really any cheaper than an X5, so hard to justify choosing it.
An x5 is still better but for the price you won’t get anywhere near the same level of features in that bmw vs genesis. Comparably equipped to the gv80 the x5 would be significantly more expensive
@@naveenthemachine I think the Genesis price advantage is a myth that is out there as "the word on the street." Start really looking at them, and I don't see that the GV80 is truly any cheaper.
Alex, Embargoes be damned!! You should release videos when you feel comfortable doing so. 😉😉🤣
No embargoes are broken, we can't talk about how it drives...
@@AAutoBuyersGuide 😉
Then he would not be invited to any Genesis launches. What good would that do us or him?
Two constants in the automotive world; Alex and Genesis put out quality products!!!
What was the point of putting caps over the instrument gauges? For glare from the sun or any harsh lights. Now we are trending to this flat/large and boring looking screens that will make it more difficult to see your speed and other information.
Not feeling the screen. Why are so many doing this 🤦🏽
Not sure about that newspaper "trim." Doesn't seem very luxurious to me.
It's simply taking something other than wood, plastic, carbon fiber, or aluminum.
A welcomed addition,I think..
I guess recycled sawdust trim was too expensive.
As long as it isn't piano black
@@joestuff8it’s cheap
@@joestuff8 for me, I don't really care that it is recycled newspaper. I think that the "grain" seems a bit uncanny. It's an odd in-between of being perfectly straight solid lines or the natural unique shapes and thickness of true wood grain
The dash looks cheaper, tbh.
Make me a “magma” version in a coupe and I’m sold.
VOLVO or this?
Volvo, you cant go wrong with that one.
How much longer before the windshield becomes a big LCD touch screen? I'm tired of these monster screens.
The next car I buy will be old and used with no technology.
You know what screw it
I'm just going to buy a horse!
🤣 the downfall
OLED, not LCD. LCD is cheap.
@@JohnLee-tb3nh my apologies
@@JohnLee-tb3nhit’s only a single pane OLED in the Genesis now because they’re inspired by Cadillac interiors heavily.
Wow, gorgeous
I'd buy it IF I thought it was reliable. But I don't, so I wont.
👏👏
In USA, Genesis sells at higher average transaction price than Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti! Genesis is king of Asian luxury!
Better than a Lexus RX?? Oh please!😂
Wrong. A gv80 mops the gussied up Camry on stilts inside and out
There’s a reason the RX is worst in class because it does NOTHING well and it’s just so uncompetitive
Still no 4-corner air suspension.... Pass!
Audi wants their wheels back. Front looks better to me than before and less “unfinished” to me but these people don’t have a lick of originality.
1st
The problem is it wont last nowhere near Lexus RX.
This is better than the RX. As an Gv80 owner. This vehicle looks far more luxurious and gets more heads turning on the road than any Lexus will get you. Gv80 gets alot of attention due to its looks. It's far more upscale looking than an Rx. Genesis is reliable enough. Very few people buy luxury cars for reliability.
What are you talking about? Genesis is guaranteed to last 10 years or 100,000 miles with its legendary warranty. Lexus is only guaranteed to last 5 years or 60,000 miles with its junk warranty. Obviously, Genesis is twice as reliable as Lexus.
Considering the RX is basically a polished Highlander, one would hope so. RX is barely luxurious and shares most of its parts with Toyota, which is why it can be reliable. GV80 is not a polished Hyundai, sharing no parts in the platform and powertrain.
Lexus rx who? Didn’t you hear? It’s been ostensibly discontinued and eradicated from existence
We only care about the coupe
Limiting the grab points on a steering wheel is bad design. That stupid piece on the bottom needs to go!
Nice interior ! Delete all that chrome exterior
Will never trust Korean reliability again. Lexus/Acura never let me down.
Absolutely
Car is still ugly
Overpriced and overrated. An Infiniti QX60 is everything luxury about this, plus it’s more reliable and cheaper. Genesis isn’t even that much of a status brand to be able to ask that price. And if I wanted sporty bang for buck luxury, I’d just get a sports specked Acura MDX.
Hilarious when Infiniti is effectively irrelevant, and Genesis has overtaken them in popularity and sales. QX60 is a polished Pathfinder and has a gutless powertrain which does not fit a luxury vehicle.
You’re wrong but I will say the qx60 is a far better car than especially the biggest jokes of the luxury car segment
@@ishaansaral502Hilarious because non of what you said was relevant for what luxury car buyers are looking at. From a value standpoint, the QX60 beat the GV70 by a far margin.
@@naveenthemachineBiggest joke of the luxury car segment is this overpriced Hyundai.😂
Continuing to copy Bentley is mega cringe.
Why? Bentleys are ultra luxury so why is it bad to benchmark them in design?
After all the designer of Genesis, Sang Yup Lee used to work at Bentley
@@naveenthemachine Because Koreans can't make Bentleys.
Disturbingly gaudy infotainment. This weird fad needs to end.
The best Asian luxury suv full stop
Rest in peace Lexus RX. Genesis has objectively wiped it out of existence
So the RX is ostensibly nonexistent. It’ll be “Lexus who? I though they went out of business”
Stop capping, u know Damm well lexus isn't going out of business. If anything, just because u have the best product doesn't mean everyone will come to you at once. If that were the case, the RX would have been not made it to a new generation
@@normanli7085 wrong. If you have the best product then everyone will come to you
The best suv in this class is the x5. The benchmark. The gold standard so clearly everyone wants to try to compete with an x5
If one brand is going extinct, it will be Genesis before Lexus, Lexus will survive longer than Genesis, just be more realistic, to be honest, nobody cares about your comment anymore, all your comment is everything about Lexus/Toyota hate. You have no credibility.
@@naveenthemachine but if nobody bought the x5, then by ur definition, bmw would be nonexistent and would be out of business soon
@@normanli7085 but people are buying the x5 because it’s so well rounded
Hyundai Genesis stopped trying to trick people. It's Hyundai with Wal-Mart quality service department
Genesis needs a DEALERSHIP. they need their own dealerships. Nobody wants to buy a 100k car in an economic car Maker like Hyundai. Who wants to buy a Lamborghini in a Volkswagen dealership?? Who wants to buy a Cadillac in a Chevy economic dealership?? That alone is enough to drive customers away. When I went into a land rover range Rover dealership to buy a Disco 5. I felt like I was buying something that was worth my hard earned money.
every single hyundai/kia/genesis looks the exact same. it’s so bland.
