      idk how it is there but in the US they just leave power on when someone calls and says they are moving or the house or business is closing because its easier than turning it off only to have to turn it back on again and they don't expect it to use more than a couple of dollars worth of electricity per month. that was explained by a power company employee. although with that place's heat still being on, even just a little, they should have noticed and investigated by now and turned it off. 40 years i can't believe they'd have left it alone that long really.
      they just forgot about it probably.

    • @nasabear
      @nasabear 4 роки тому

      @@jeantetreault132 He meant the picture tube. Even when TVs went to transistors, the picture tube still took time to warm up. Some TVs kept power to the tube even when the TV was "off", to shorten the start up time, a serious waste of electricity.

    I can tell by something that I see in the video that that place hasn't been closed for 40 years.

    I wish the place near my house was still there. They tore it down but it was a mansion behind an amusement park. Had multiple floors, even it’s own gym. Definitely was abandoned in the 80s because of the clothing left there and the art on the walls was something right out of an 80s movie. Whoever owned that place just left/ got kicked out for sure because everything was still there.

    I love when you turned those tv’s and they actually came on! I would love to have one of them for my vintage technology collection. But I know you shouldn’t steal from abandon buildings.

    Bank seized property with zero profitability. Then city bought it and left abandoned. I smell corruption right there. Someone got a pretty paycheck :)

    What a cool building! You'd think this one should've gotten some sort of interest since they're literally right across the street from Anmtrak / Via Rail & Greyhound Bus.

      @jason9022 I've known people who hooked metal strips inside to jump across, missing meters. don't tell me it's impossible.

    • @JUST_ONE_ID10T
      @JUST_ONE_ID10T 4 роки тому +3

      @jason9022 well it is an old building so most likely it has a hard cut off that someone hooked back up. It's not some new building with a digital cut off that can be done remotely. plus they do meter the buildings even on commercial buildings I used to work as maintenance at a hotel and they had an electrical room with some meters as it took many with the amount of draw of power. each one was tri phase. So don't tell me it can't be done. I know better. it had many 3 phase panels. With power meters in the electrical room. So if the power company pulled the meters someone could by pass them.

    Can’t believe the electric is still on ..if you don’t pay your bill you get cut off lol..someone has got to be still paying the bill..it is refreshing to see just the natural decay ..I would have thought they would have sold the beer off at the time ,it would have brought some money in ..such a waste and I don’t drink either lol 😀

    Electric is still on. Heaters still running. This smells like they are waiting till the property catches fire and once it burns down they will build over it.
