  • Make your own Cottage-Core inspired dress! Perfect for picking flowers, or living out your farm life fantasy! This dress has a full princess-like circle skirt and peasant sleeves that can be worn off the shoulder for a sultry summer look!
    Materials I used:
2 flat Bed sheets measuring 150 cm x 250 (or you can use 5 meters of fabric of your choice)
    Matching Thread
Cotton Trim about 2 meters (you may need more depending on how your decide to trim your dress)
    elastic 6mm wide
A3 size paper (for the pattern) or you can tape two pieces of a4 paper together
I hope this tutorial is easy to follow! I used an A3 piece of paper to create my pattern and used it for both the bodice and sleeves. I then created a long circle skirt. There are many great circle skirt calculators on the net, that will help you find the radius of your waist.
I initially intended to add a zipper closure to the dress, but really liked the idea of having an open front, similar to a Peignoir! So I added ties to what was supposed to be the back of the dress, and turned it into the front! That is the beauty of this pattern, is that it is very versatile and you decide what closure you would like to add.

(In the minute 2:29) Why did she fold the bottom of the pattern?

I wanted less gathers on the back of my dress so i shorted the width of the pattern just a smidge.

Is there any way I can leave out the elastic part? I dont have elastic :(

Yes, rather than ties sewn on after, you can put fabric ties the whole way through and cinch that way.

As Heidi mentioned, you could opt for a drawstring instead :) Good luck!

Aré there any measurements I should change to match my size?

This dress is drafted for my 38 inch bust. Since it has elastic the size is pretty flexible. You could certainly extend the bodice piece, (or the waist band) or take it in a few inches to fit your measurements more comfortably. Good luck!!
