That was beautiful team basketball guys hustling for loose balls and rebounds guys playing hard nose defense guys moving the ball around guys moving without the ball to create better scoring chances and big men going to work in the post a breath of fresh air from all these 70 point games and 3 point contests nowadays

Final year of the LJ/Zo partnership in Charlotte, their breakup felt very similar to Penny/Shaq's breakup in Orlando just a year later.

They were an exciting duo they were great scorers and had exciting dunks(especially LJ) could shoot from 20 feet consistently and they gave 100% effort on defense and crashing the boards

David Robinson won his one on one matchup in scoring, rebounding, and efficiency. Larry Johnson won his one on one matchup in scoring, and passing.

Charlotte won 50 games and finished only 2 games out of 1st in the Central
Can’t help but wonder what if they had caught Indiana for the division, avoided MJ and Da Bulls in round 1

The Hornets fell apart after Mourning was traded to Miami, but most of it was George Shinn's fault. He just didn't want to pay his players and should've never been given the keys to own an NBA team. He was greedy, cheap, and selfish.

To be fair they really didn't achieve much even with Zo. Giving undersized LJ that lengthy contract wasn't the greatest move.
He was gone the season after this one

@@tylerriley2587 I just remember in the media about the trade to NY for Mase.... for the $$$/contact LJ was making the Hornets no longer saw him as a guy they could build around.
Everyone thought LJ vs Mase was a lopsided trade in favor of NY and Mase surprisingly had a career year and the Hornets had a few good seasons without LJ and Zo.

Zo was a black hole , LJ and rice should’ve stayed together for that 96/97 season , if mj never returned in 95 hornets would’ve made a deep run. Glad LJ destroyed the hornets in the 97 playoffs
