    I took this time for granted. Was kind of awesome to see these two monsters start the same year and battle each other into their primes, before Mourning got sick.

      Exactly. Compare the basketball with this current soft era. What have they done with the NBA

      Yeah Alonzo Mourning and Shaq's rivalry started in college, those 2 go back along way and it was Shaq that wanted him and Zo to win a championship together and that is very important and special to the both of them how they're destinies were entwined ❤💪🏿👑🏀

      The thing is, we don't know exactly when Zo's health problems started. He might have even been dealing with it back in these days. And the thing about kidney issues is that it zaps your energy; Zo was super energetic and intense---imagine how much MORE intense he would've been if he was 100 percent healthy.

      It's unlucky that Miami lost by one point to NY in Game 7 in Year 2000, otherwise I think we can see Shaq vs Zo in the Final.

    Alonzo actually defended Shaq reasonably well. Shaq did a lot of his scoring when Zo wasn't guarding him

      @dohoangquan35 10 місяців тому +9

      it's such a tricky thing that the best defender of your team is also very good at scoring, so you don't want to risk having him in foul trouble by regularly going against Shaq.

      Zo was like a smaller version of Ewing

    • @ChrisM07
      @ChrisM07 9 місяців тому +3

      Mourning had strong legs, this was a common pattern when it comes to who usually guarded Shaq well consistently.

    • @killerecho
      @killerecho 9 місяців тому +4

      Zo had that combination of strength and quickness to keep Shaq from getting all the way to the basket on his post ups. Pretty impressive considering he's giving up like 4 inches/70-80 pounds to him.

    Alonzo Mourning always played much bigger than his 6-10 body. He was really a center playing in a power forwards body. He had long arms, big hands and a powerful frame that slowed him to play much bigger than his height would suggest. I’m a Knicks fan, and I feel like I remember morning always getting Ewing in early foul trouble. I always thought he played Ewing very well, and gave him all kinds of problems on both ends.

    I enjoy this type of basketball, 90s era, less friendly more competitive, less threes more mid range shots, transition and post offense etc. hand checking meaning more manly hard defense without hurting opponents compare to today's game, players rely more on threes, soft defense/ slight touch then it's a foul, more pre game antics like kiddie handshakes, too much hugging from players, exchanging jerseys at d game of d game etc... what I'm trying to say is that I love old Skool basketball coz I am old skool😅

    Heat Zo was at his physical peak. He wasn’t Shaq big, but he was big. Underrated matchup. People remember Shaq’s battles against Hakeem, DRob, and Ewing, but forget that Zo was also a big part of the Big Man era.

    • @redpillfreedom6692
      @redpillfreedom6692 10 місяців тому +2

      Chick Hearn was notoriously hyperbolic
      "Tattooing the floor with the ball"
      "No harm, no foul, no blood, no ambulance"
      "King Kong on a ladder wouldn't catch that pass."
      "...since Hector was a puppy."
      "They couldn't beat the Sisters of Mercy."
