The “good” news is that you are in S. Korea. They are ahead of the curve with respect to handling the pandemic responsibly.
I live in Canada you are damn right
EDIT: thank you guys for sending so much love wow, you all are amazing 💗i'm sad that i couldn't say bye to my kiddos but i really am looking forward to taking the next few months off from working so please, if you have video ideas or korean youtubers that you wish to see me collab with, send it all my way! also no need to suggest that i return to the u.s or anything- my whole life is established out here, i love korea and i have no plan to leave ~
You are tenacious and talented. I know you will find something really soon. Maybe in the time being, you want to try these free courses from Google to enhance your resume or just do something while waiting? learndigital.withgoogle.com/digitalgarage/courses
Stay strong sweetie, we love you and support you.
In US many are in financial trouble due to corona virus crisis.
You can apply for a looking for work Visa. That way you can stay longer out there and not have to come back stateside
Are you going to move back to the US????
The saddest part is no one ever knows when we are gonna go back to normal situation :( I live in Korea and I'm so thankful that Korea is getting slightly better, but my bf who lives in L.A., OMG the whole situation over there is so so crazy.. he's been literally staying at home over 2 weeks now and the fact I don't know when i'm gonna see him again breaks my heart 😢
A Decent Look 디센트룩 living in LA right now is tough! We’re not allowed to work right now. It’s tough since we all have bills to pay 😢
@@cloud24101 yeah renting is A HUGE problem over there. feel u :(
I live in the US and my bf lives in Seoul. For a bit I was so worried about Korea but now the US is worse. We have been face timing alot and still keeping my fingers crossed that I can visit this summer.
@@FallingForFashion Me too! My bf's bday is in May so i'm really hoping to see him soon😢 It's almost been 4 months last time I see him:( I'm seriously thinking about making a video of our story (Seoul to LA) and sharing w ppl like us
Girl I totally understand my boyfriend is in Korea and I’m in the US and it hurts to not know when we are able to see each other:(
The school must have been struggling prior to the February closing. It takes more than a month to become bankrupt. I worked for a hospital that went bankrupt, and we all got screwed, losing our jobs, and lots of vacation time we had earned. I was there for five years, so it was hard. Now, since I’m in healthcare, I am considered essential to work, during the pandemic. However, our hours have been cut, so it’s like I got temporarily bumped to part time. It’s definitely scary when they keep pushing the “shelter in place” back. People need their jobs!
Hereismytwocents2011 People also don’t need to keep spreading the virus around either. I’m also an essential worker, so I am still working. My hours also got cut back to part time.
Also filing for bankruptcy takes time.
Feel bad for the kids too because they must have loved you as a teacher. You make those connections with those kids and vice versa. Like me at my college, i miss my profs like hell and they’re still processing that, on top of not seeing their friends and everything. I can only imagine how you feel as a teacher with that too
As a teacher here in Korea, this whole situation is insane. I’m so lucky that I’m a public school teacher so I have a little more security, but I have heard so many stories of hagwon teachers losing their jobs. Sending you love 💖
Yep..lost mine. I was asked to renew in January and a month later they told me they weren't renewing me after all..so I sit living off of savings, trying to get a new job...so far, nothing. I refuse to put up with this crap 30 more years. I need to stay in Korea at least two more years so I can save up. But if this keeps happening, I won't ever be able to get and keep any savings. Pretty sure I'm getting screwed out of my severance and my last 6 days of work.
This whole lockdown thing has been scary I am considered essential so I am still working but my mom has been out of work for going on 3 weeks and her company might be bankrupt by the time everything settles. She works for a big company here in the US so it's really scary. So sorry you lost your job. When one door closes another one will open
Tracy S were in the same boat! I’m essential so I’m still working and my mom hasn’t been working for the past 3 weeks. Her company isn’t doing so well and she’s scared they’re going to tell them they’re closing permanently. Her company is pretty big as well
Which company? I’m sooo sorry :((
Same for me. My boyfriend is essential and has been working from home and I am out of work and I don't think my tiny company will survive all of this but I won't know for at least another month. Hey, at least we're all in this together!
I Feel you, hope things turn out OK for you mother! Be safe!
I wishing you all the best my american friends!
In South Africa we've just recently been on lock down. It's honestly scary, but the idea of people losing their jobs is in scarier. I'm so sorry this happened to you, I know you'll get a job soon! And kudos to you for staying positive, it will all workout well 🌼
Andie Xulu oh hey I’m also from South Africa
Hiii, I’m also from South Africa 🙋🏽♀️😄 Agreed, the thought of people losing their jobs is so scary 😩
@@AyandaLembede omg! Where about?
@@MichelleGovender no ways! That's so cool 😎 look at us
Haha!! All the South Africans dropping by this comment section 😭
I am 22 and recently lost my job. I have stopped working at places by choice, but never at a job I absolutely LOVED. I recently got laid off from a restaurant/buffet that I work at because our dine in closed. All my coworkers including my managers became my friends and the fact that I haven't been able to see them makes me sad. I have been able to talk to one of my managers that is my friend and babysat her kid one night (because I've already been 'exposed' to her family if they are sick). I could get a new job in the meantime, but I don't want to end up starting somewhere that I could get sick from. I applied for unemployment before the stimulus bill got approved and was denied so now I have to apply to see if I can even qualify for unemployment with the new updates.
On the other end of things, not being able to have HUMAN CONTACT from work and in-person classes sucks. My mom brought me groceries one day because she works for a huge bank and is considered essential (and already knows IF she gets it that it would be from her coworkers). Throughout all this, she has probably already been exposed to it if possible and doesn't want to make me or my grandparents sick. The day she brought me groceries I could obviously talk to her but I wasn't able to hug her and that sucked. When it comes to my grandparents, I was supposed to see my grandma on March 31st because she was going to go to an appointment with me. She called me last week and asked me if I was still going and if so, if I wanted her to go. I told her no because I don't want to compromise her health or my grandpa's health.
FaceTime has helped but not when it comes to not being able to hug my family members or see them in person. No amount of FaceTime/Zoom calls will make up for the HUGS I get from my family, the IN PERSON learning experience I get from my favorite professors, the many laughs at work, etc. I know it has to be done in order to protect everyone but I miss my normal life. I miss waking up DREADING going to class at 10 am but still going. I miss having class all day and going straight to work. I miss rolling my eyes when ANOTHER customer comes in thirty minutes before close. I miss life as we knew it and I really really hope this ends soon because I mentally can't take it anymore. I know people are dying and it IS sad, but having never experienced this before it is HARD.
I barely have money for groceries to get me through June. luckily my mom is able to help me with groceries and bills if needed. I really wish our government started hopping on the bus to making sure things didn't escalate to where things are now. Everything is either closed, or getting canceled. I was supposed to get an internship this summer and work for one of my local minor league baseball teams... Now, I might be lucky if I can even go to a public lake without having to social distance myself.
I'm really sorry to hear it all. The pain is right there in your eyes specially about the kids. You're very strong and optimistic, you're truly inspirational. Loved this side of you that I never knew 🌸
That’s insane you’re 22 with enough savings to live off of for 6 months. Most people can’t do that these days.
ur positive outlook and ability to bounce back in this video transferred some really good vibes to me so thank you
M 420 same!!
Sending you so much love Adrienne. You're a girl boss and I know someone is going to be so happy to hire you 💕 Keep killin it.
Im genuinely so sorry this happened - I hope you’re able to stay here as long as you want to 💕
You're sweet Ollie.
My new job back in Korea fell through last week after months of planning to return, and it really hit me for a day or so, and then I decided to let that little bit of pain propel me forward, even though I left Korea and the best job I’ve ever had at a uni a year ago and have spent the entire year pursuing other dreams that fell through in November last year. Seems like a never ending string of ‘no’ from the universe haha! In South Africa we are on a lockdown right now and I feel I just have to hold tight, the universe pushed a giant pause button this time. And what we do in that pause can make all the difference. It’s also totally okay to be upset for a while!
Every setback holds the seed of success. We just have to use our disappointments to steer us in a new direction (when we’re ready), and marvel at the wonders that will come our way! I think the way you’re handling this is very admirable. And you’ll figure it out, we all will 💛 good luck in your next adventure!
Also, totally keen to do a collab when I’m back! I’ll be looking for new jobs after taking a two week break to work on my brand and illustrations. My plans for shooting my first few videos are underway, even though I hadn’t planned for them to be while still in SA, I’m excited to improvise!
I am a sign language interpreter at a college and since my college went online I haven't been able to work. We are finding out on Monday what the plan is for the summer semester. I am luckily being paid still until April 15th, but I don't know what will happen afterward. In my free time, I have mostly been watching a lot of Disney + and UA-cam. I also practice interpreting videos in ASL to keep up my skills in the meantime. I currently learn Dutch, so I have been using my free time to also learn more Dutch. I personally hope all of this is over soon because I miss being able to interpret classes at the college every week.
Hi Adrienne, I love following your adventures in Korea. I have lived around Seoul off and on since 2006. I taught in an English Village, at an Elementary School, and at POLY International School. I watch your videos and they bring me back! I am living in my hometown of Ottawa, Canada. I'm watching the snow melt and living vicariously through you in regards to Korea's cherry blossoms! The last time that I lived in Korea I lived in Ilsan. There's a lovely park there... worth checking out. I realize that you're in Busan of course, but if you feel like an outing at some point... I sympathize with what you're going through (I'm a teacher/off work now). We'll look back at this time one day when things are back to "normal" and reflect back on it... the good and the bad. Please take care and focus on the good (there is still so much good!) I know that you're a positive person, so don't feel bad for feeling sad/scared/overwhelmed once in a while. You're strong, but you're human! Thank you for your lovely videos. I especially love how open you are... you send out the "friend vibe" which I'm sure is helping so many people (especially at this time). Please know that there are many of us "silent viewers" who don't usually comment on UA-cam... yet we ARE here and we ARE appreciative of your efforts. I promise to comment more often! P.S. You can maybe tell from my pic that I foster kittens... I've fostered over 200 at this point and have posted a few vids on my channel. I even fostered the last time that I was in Korea (Nabiya Cat Shelter). =^-^=
Oh wow. I adopted my last kitty from Nabiya shelter. She's in heaven now. I lost her to a terminal illness in January 2018. I have a kitty now and I adopted him last year. Someone got married and gave him up after 6 years.
@@shannon2748 Aw I love hearing about adoptions. There was a sick cat there that I wanted to adopt, but I knew that the flight to Canada would not have been ideal. I still think about her! =^-^=
I live in NY, not NYC but my small town is deemed the “epicenter” of covid because we have soo many cases. I do health insurance and have been working from home, but there’s only so much you can do from home - so I’m terrified for my job ❤️ hang in there, things have to look up at some point!!
i was originally in rye im in florida now but im worried about my family back home
What part of NY are you from??? Omg praying for this to be overrr
The situation in New York is scary, stay safe! The job is important but not as much as your health. It's a high stress situation but eventually everything will go back to normal..
What part of NY do u live at? I live in NYC ...Queens, NY
Everything happens for a better reason. I was losing my job in 2014. After 6 months I gotta better job than the previous one.So stay happy and strong.
Oh my goodness I’m so sorry about this Adrienne! That must be so scary, but I’m glad Korea has the D10 and you have UA-cam. I’m an EPIK teacher and am lucky with the job security, but it has been a hectic time not know when we will teach again and how we will go about structuring the lessons for the remainder of the year. I wish you the best of luck! I know you’ll make the best of the situation and come out even stronger. You got this! ❤️
Adrienne, I want you to know that you are a ray of sunshine on my feed. Don't stop creating and I love your adorable vlogs living in S. Korea. You inspire and motivate me so much as a person and youtuber. I adore you and your positive channel. :)
I truly hope that you are okay and stay safe. I know when I lost my job at a vet hospital, I sunk deep into depression and was in the scariest mindset I have ever been in. We all love you! I believe in you and I am so proud of how well you’re handling this. 💜
Omg I haven’t even watched the whole thing but I’m so sorry! Life must be leading you to another place, maybe an amazing job in Seoul since you’re wanting to move there?? Sending so much love during this time 💗
I’m definitely so proud of you for how you have reacted to this and your attitude towards losing your job! I’m so sorry that this had to happen to you! I hope you don’t have too much trouble trying to find another job, but learning more Korean and having your finance&economics degrees will help you! Thank God you have YT, stay strong girl! We love you and are always here for you xoxo
I'm so sorry to hear this Adrienne 😢💕 Your positivity during a situation like this is commendable.
I hope evrything works out for the best for you
I'm in England, my exams have been cancelled and we've been staying completely indoors apart form a weekly grocery shop (fortunately the brits seem to be calming down and the supermarkets are slowly returning back to normal. We even have toilet roll in shops now!!!)
Video recommendation: Adrienne I would love it so much if you did a video all about the Korea language. How you're learning it, how you're finding it, where you're at with it, the difficulties, any recommendations and just literally evrything. I've been wanting to learn Korean for a long time now but I really don't know where to start, my dream is to visit Korea some day or maybe even live there for a period of time like you're doing and I'd love to know some of the language before then.
I love so much hearing you speak Korean in your vlogs when you're talking to Cleo and such 😍🥰 it's the cutest thing
So so so sorry that this happened to you!! I’m currently unemployed over here in the US so I totally understand the frustration and uncertainty of the situation. Hope everything works out for you!
Whoa. The fact that you're so chill about this kinda astounds me. Props and I hope the best works out for you!
Bless you for having such a strong and positive outlook. You are a very driven person, and honestly a great role model for others. Thank you for sharing your experiences and I am sorry for your loss but I look forward to seeing which path you take yourself on!
You're as young as me and but honestly, you're more mature and brave. The difference is you're standing on your own feet and I got a LOT of help from my support system ( parents and cousins). And I still wasn't serious about my career, until I saw you. You inspired me so much. Thanks a lot!!
I’m really sorry and I know you must feel shocked. I’m sending you lots of love and positive vibes. You are a smart and determined person, new and great things will come! ✨
I know it’s hard, but I’m glad you’re working on staying positive through all of these changes!💕💕💕
In Korea it is called 'Managerial Necessity' which means they only have to pay you a % of your severance based on how many months you have completed. Also, they have to pay you for the month you did not work, since you were still 'on hold'. They don't have to pay return air-fare unless more than 6 months of your contract is complete and they terminate it. They have to give you 30 days notice and have to pay you for it also, even if they don't require you to attend. Korean Labour Law. If you terminate the contract then they don't have to pay you anything but you have to give them 30 days notice and they have to pay you up to that day, whether they require you to attend or not.
Omg that has to be the scariest and craziest thing ever since you’re not even in your home country!! Take care of yourself 😔😭
Hi from Las Vegas, Nevada U.S.A. I’m a college student and I’ve been watching your channel for a while and I love your videos. I’m extremely sorry that this happened to you and even though I don’t know you personally just know that you’re not alone. This is unfortunately happening to people around the world and I just want you to know that this shift will be for the better. A bump in the road is right because there’s no stopping what you can do. Love from the desert!
I'm so sorry you lost your teaching job! I am a teacher at a private school in the US and I'm surprised the schools in Korea didn't move immediately to distance learning. We've been teaching using the zoom app from a distance for three weeks now and the students still pay tuition and receive grades as usual. That way, we teachers are secure in our jobs, thank goodness! I wish you all the luck in finding another teaching position soon!
I have been watching your videos for a couple of weeks now but never subscribed, because I usually wait a while before subscribing to new channels. Anyways, I've enjoyed your content a lot. How kind you are, how honest you are about your experience, and how open you are to learning and experiencing new things. I am so sorry about your school, but your outlook on this unfortunate thing is so positive and selfless. Your concern for your coworkers and bosses seems so genuine. My point is, I'm really proud to be a subscriber now and I hope you find another opportunity in SK soon!
i am so so sorry this has happened to you, seeing how much you love your kids there and knowing you won’t get to reunite with them makes me so sad for you. but i’m glad you’re so optimistic and we’ll all be here to support your next steps!! 💖💖
I’ve lost my job before too, due to budget cuts. It’s such an emotional feeling! Even when it’s not your fault, I still felt like I had done something wrong & I was definitely in shock. Hope all goes well, and you get back on your feet soon!
Oh Adrienne, so sorry to hear that you've lost your job, I really hope everything works out for you sooner rather than later
I feel you with life plans being completely changed around. I was supposed to move to S. Korea next year in January but it may be pushed back several months but I’m remaining positive because I am thankful I am still able to remain at my job and everyone in my family is currently healthy.
I sympathize with the feeling of not seeing your kids again. I teach at a hagwon in Uijeongbu and there are some kids who still aren’t back from our long time off and it feels so weird not seeing them. I was so scared about possibly losing my job but thankfully we opened back up in mid April. Good luck Teacher! You’ll get through this.
You're so strong Adrienne! I can't imagine what you're going through but you have such a positive attitude and im sure you will find a great job!
honesty i know how you probably were/are feeling with the news of your school closing. i’ve gone to a different school every year of middle school because of school closing and it’s sucks soooo much. i’m sure you’ll find a new job as an amazing teacher soon :) 💕
I'm really sorry of this unfortunate turn of events but, I'm also fully positive that things will get better and time will definitely fade this negativity , so please stay hopeful .⚘⚘
I'm a teacher assistant in Wyoming & we are starting online Monday. We got school pushed back 2 more weeks after spring break. I have a second job that is also essential at a plant so it helps. I'm 4 months pregnant so it's iffy about summer jobs for me. Stay positive do what you can to stay afloat & be safe!
Sending all my love and support Adrien everything will end up working out! A lot of people here in the US are temporarily losing their jobs as well and it’s been so tough. Stay strong💕
Hi Adrienne! I literally just subscribed to your channel after watching 3 of your videos and i'm honestly surprised how much I like you? I'm not really the type who subscribes and comments but there's a friendly vibe to your vlogs that make you seem so approachable. I'm sorry about your job but i'm happy you remain optimistic. Wishing you stay safe amidst the pandemic. Much love!
I lost my job at 22 due to company downsizing in 2013 and was devastated. Rebounded and had a stable job for the last 6 years and may get furloughed to save my company’s costs. I’ll be financially okay, but worried for those who aren’t and who were about to start their careers this spring. It’s incredibly sad what’s happened and really scary this is going to be the norm for at least a few more months. Got to stay positive in this moment or you’ll breakdown. Hope you will find another job very soon. ~Positive vibes~
Hi! Former hagwon teacher here!
Good luck with the job hunt! I would be so sad not to see my students again :( but good on you for staying to positive.
I taught in Dongtan a few years back (youtube channel was just me documenting that) and absolutely loved it. You miss it so much after you leave. Some video ideas I have are:
- weird cafes (not sure if these are open but SO many interesting ones especially in Seoul)
- full tour of a CU and all the awesome things you can find there.
- things to do in Busan, also lucky you, this was my favourite city to visit.
- tips for how to learn the language
- any speakeasy bars still open in Busan? I think papas was the one we checked out that was super neat
also you might like my shit foreigners never say in korea vid for jokes lol
Girl, I feel this video. I'm also a private school teacher in the states and we are check on the status of our 2020 tuition numbers. Subscribed and letting all the ads play to help out! :)
Hi Adrienne I’m mostly a quite viewer but I really wanted to say that I really appreciate ur videos I’m literally always excited to watch ur videos when I see u uploaded a new one 👉🏼👈🏼 I love ur vlogs sm I’m always so happy 😂
Damn Adrienne, I'm so sorry about that. You are so strong and optimistic. You always have positive vibes which is inspiring, especially during this time. Please keep safe🌸
I was an English teacher here in Korean Hakwons for 10 years. The fact you couldn't have a proper goodbye with your student. I can't imagine how bad you would feel about it. Jeez.
It is a huge problem with Covid-19 and banning all hakwons and not opening school. I knew some hakwons were closing cause of this.
Since your hakwon is pretty big, it was probably worse to keep up if you had to close the place up for a month or two cause of all the expenses (rents, pay and all) that are still being made.
I'm sorry what happened to you! Cheer up!
when you referred to your students as your babies🥺💔 this is really unfortunate but I love how you’re super optimistic and staying positive!! that’s all you need to get through a situation like this. wish you the best of luck finding a new job!!
So sorry to hear that about your job, but glad you are able to stay. I am sure your school was great but I am also excited to see you flourish with the extra freedom of living abroad without a “day job” to dictate your schedule. I am also really excited for your Korean language journey. Today begins my first week of dedicated study. I would love all of the Korean study inspiration videos. Even just some longer study with me videos or a video with all of your new study tools - books, websites, apps, stationary, etc .... Also, I have a lot of free time to study now too in the US and would love to see how you schedule your days and studying. What are your goals and within what time frame? Basically any study videos would be the best!
if this seriously isn’t an april fools joke... i’m sending so much love 🤞🏼 keep your head up ❣️
Im a hairdresser and my company pretty much told everyone that they have to file for unemployment. While my college classes have moved online its become increasingly difficult to do well in them since I'm such a in-person learner.
I 100% feel you with this video. I lost my job becuase of this whole situation going on and I never would've imagine losing it. I worked for a large upscale gym and i never would have thought the entire franchise would close down. I'm 22 and filing for unemployment, who would've thought lol. But I know I'm not the alone one going through this and I've seen things through a positive life to be able to finally focus on my goals and not having excuses like going to work to get in the way anymore. You got this Adrienne! Just keep being positive and you'll find better opportunities! That goes for anyone else in the same boat too!!! Sending love 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I am a teacher in California and I am so sorry for your situation. Not seeing your kids is so so hard. We just got told we are doing online learning now for the rest of the year and it is crazy to think we will not teach in a classroom again this year. My thoughts are with you!
So sorry to hear that! I hope you continue with your positive attitude and I am sure you will find another job eventually. Take care and stay healthy!
lets all try to help her please, don't skip ads, watch the full video, like comment and subscribe! and share her content for more people to watch
You are so smart and strong.. and always postive.. so you go girl! Enjoy life!
Girl i was about to sleep and u hit us with that title! Sending positive vibes! 😌
I’m so sorry to hear you lost your job, I’m wishing the best for you. It’s so hard to leave your kids, as a former teacher I can say it’s hard no matter the circumstances (even if it’s just them leaving you because they grow up or move). Just focus on the positive and you will push through, I know it!
I'm so sorry that you lost your job, but thank God that you have a back up plan! This has been such a crazy experience for me, too. I arrived in Korea on Feb 25, worked for one week, and then my school closed because of the virus. We still haven't reopened, and right now we are just hoping that it can open before May. If not, our school will close, too.
Hey Adrienne! I am a VIPkid teacher (and have been for 6 months). I DO NOT recommend applying for VIPkid or any other online teaching platform right now. VIPkid hired so much in March that just about every teacher has lost students (and consequently income). They are refusing to implement a hiring freeze and are deleting posts on their official Facebook page and the Hutong (an on platform bulletin board) about the impact this has had on us. I had a pretty steady schedule up until two weeks ago, and now I may not even make the minimum to receive a payment ($80). If you're looking for work in online teaching, it's no longer available.
love your positivity! of course its normal to be upset, but theres no point to let it consume you cause you cant do anything about it... hope you are okay and find time to do some things that make you happy while hopefully figuring stuff out!
hey Adrienne, don't worry a lot of people are facing the same problem, i'm one of them, i was also working as an english teacher in China , while studying in university, during the chinese holidays, i went back home to see family, then i got stuck in here due to quarantine, i also lost my job because of bankrupt, and i tried to pay for my house, trying to keep it longer, but i have no idea when this will end , so today ,i've decided to give up on that too, don't know whether i'll be back or not but i'm trying to stay positive
your in my thoughts love!!! keep your head up, everything happens for a reason ❤️ your amazing and so strong i couldn’t imagine being so far away from family and what not during this pandemic. your awesome boo!!
I just reloaded your vid and watched two FULL ads to completion (MasterClass and Grammarly) and clicked on the like button. Trying to do my part. Korea NEEDS you, you're such an asset and your optimism is uplifting. Praying that you'll find something soon.
Girl I fell you!! I’m a Spanish teacher at a private school here in TX and was put on furlough. Fingers crossed the parents would still want to come back so we won’t have to shut down!
That is odd a private school, where parents pre-pay the tuition at the beginning of the year would file bankruptcy so quickly. Or does tuition work differently in S Korea?
I’m gonna miss the day in the life of a teacher vlogs!! I’m so shocked but not at the same time. My internship got cancelled as well so now I have lots of free time.
Sofia May mine too 😔 I was going to have such a good internship but I’m a firm believer everything happens for a reason!
I can kind of relate to your situation. In 2016, the public middle school, where I taught for 6 years couldn't renew my contract. My school decided to switch from GEPIK to EPIK not realizing they didn't have to yet, and because I was there for a long time, GEPIK couldn't afford to pay me the salary I had or the increase I would have received for the next school year. So instead of telling me that, they lied to me about when things were due, so I missed important deadlines. Luckily, I had lived and taught in Korea for 7 yrs at that point, so I was able to find a job quickly. I decided to apply to only three schools and if I didn't pass any of the interviews, I'd just go back home since it was near the end of my contract period. Fortunately, all three schools wanted me; two were public schools, and one was a hagwon. I had my doubts about going to a hagwon, after my experience in my first year, but it ended up being the best option. I hope my experience will be an encouragement to you. You already have a solid backup plan, so I'm sure you'll get through this. Good luck and stay safe. ^^
Don’t skip the ads! Help a sis out! Be strong. Cheering for ya from the states
I lost my accounting job during all of this too. My old work let half the staff go about a week into the quarantine here in the states to prevent any more long term damage. I was essential, but at the end of the day, we can't run effectively if no one else is essential and working. I feel you, and we can get through this. I wish you luck in your job search and can't wait to see more from you!
I am so sorry that it happened! Hope things will get better worldwide and hope you will find something else soon. Best of luck!!
You’re going to do great and push through this. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for you. ❤️Currently i’ve just been reading books and re organizing my house while waiting for online courses to start for my college 😭
I'm so sorry to hear this! I hope you find another great job soon! I'm on my 3rd week home and this is how I've been spending my time: 1 hour-ish of doing homework (if I have any), cooking, making videos, playing online games, watching lots of youtube and tv shows and a week ago I decided to start learning korean so i also spend an hour every morning studying :) nothing too crazy but this how I like to spend my time and therefore feel fulfilled and happy. Take care, Adrienne
I teach at a public school in the US. We are doing distance learning/teaching. There are so many mental and emotional challenges as an American teacher. I didn’t realize being a physical classroom teacher was a huge part of my being until now. It’s most definitely different, but I’m learning new skills and I can add teaching remotely to my resume lol.
I watch all the ads for you girl, wishing you the best. My mom and brother are going through the same thing. These are scary times but staying positive is the only thing that’s gonna help.
I'm so sorry to hear about this my love !! O my goodness, Keep your head held high beautiful )): This is so crazy to hear and I wish you all the love in the world !! I hope you figure out what you want to do now !!
cheer up Adrienne, everything going to be better! You are so positive and have bright energy! thanks for fun videos
Hi girl! I am on the same boat. Lost my job due to what is happening and I am currently looking for a job but also taking care of myself and staying hopeful that I will find a job soon!
I'm so sorry this happened to you. I know it's hard. I am a teacher at a learning center in the US and I've been out of work for three weeks now. It's a struggle because I miss my kids so much. I'm hoping this all can get settled soon. But I am sending you a lot of love and positivity and I hope you can figure things all out. Keep pushing through girl! You got this. I'm also self studying Korean as well that's been my goal now since I'm out of work. Much love sweetie!
Oh no! I'm sorry this happened but glad that you still are having a positive outlook. I work for a veterinary hospital as a VT so my job is still considered essential. We've had to completely change the way we see our patients and must wear full PPE when dealing with the clients. We no longer allow them into the hospital and have to do curbside consults and then bring the animals inside. Some of our clients are super sweet and helpful but we have those that still think we're "over reacting" and that "this is a joke" and refuse to help us get their animals, so I have to GET INTO THEIR CAR and get the animal myself. PPE is still hard to come by and we've donated most of ours to help our local hospitals with their COVID cases. We've been sterilizing what we can to reuse but supplies are extremely limited and dealing with people like that scares me; who even knows where they have been since they think this is a joke. I'm hoping America can gets its crap together but I really don't see that happening anytime soon when attitudes like that are still around.
Please continue to stay safe over there and keep us updated on your job hunt! You are one of the few bright spots for me and I look forward to all your videos!
You are not alone under this crazy situation! I have experienced huge turns of events literally every day as a uni student who is about to graduate and looking for intern. I hope you are doing well ❤️keep moving!
I'm so sorry Adrienne. Things will get better for you because you deserve it. Keep up the good work, I love your videos!
So sorry for your situation. Keep your head up! Everything will get better!
See I didn't want this to happen to you, but I just so glad that you aren't being really negative about it. I'm a highschool student who teaches 2-4 year olds on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I aspired to become a elementray teacher one day. But unfortunealy with the Covid 19 going on, I have not seen them for a full month now. We are still doing online school work and we probably won't be able to sit down at our dirty lunch tables until may or next school year. I miss the little kiddos, but I not a full teacher. (Obviously so your pain is a lot worse.) But I can kinda feel ya and plus I don't pay bills lol. But I just want to say, it really good that you being positive about this. Heck with all the free time I decided to pick up my piano again. (We don't speak about that 😳😂) Have a good day, and have a good April Fools day.
I didn't lose my job because I'm an essential worker. (Pharmacy retail) I'm saving up for a more powerful PC or laptop with my "hero pay". I'm learning Korean in my spare time. I've been catching up on TV shows and cleaning. Thanks for the positive video.
Because of your experience and how you shared is really helpful for those who thought to take jobs in S.K. hope you get new job soon 😊
I’m so sorry this happened! You’ll come out stronger than ever, and with an even better position! COVID has been such a lesson and for us all!
It’s good to see that you’re so positive about this!! When I saw the video title I felt so bad for you 😪 I was supposed to have a co-op job (basically a paid internship) for the next 8 months and it got cancelled. So I was trying to enroll in classes at my uni but basically everything was full, but because of my degree I’m supposed to take 12 credits each semester but there were only 2 classes that weren’t full in my major so I have 5 credits... So stressful, but it feels better that everyone is in the same situation and understands how everyone else is feeling.
I really applaud your positive outlook in this situation. It's truly unfortunate that this has had to happen, but I only wish that something good comes out of this. Stay strong :) As for a video idea maybe you could do a mini series on your korean language learning process
So sorry this happened to you! I love your calm demeanour and positive attitude!! I need more positivity in my life 💕💕 good luck with your next chapter!
I love how u are still remaining positive and happy, hope everything works out:)
I am an Assistant Director at a child care center in WI. and we have had to temporarily lay off 2/3 of our staff. We generally serve 70-80 children a day ages 1 yr to 9 yrs and we are currently serving 16 kids. It’s a very unprecedented time right now and 2/3 of child cares might not make it through this pandemic. I keep sharing with our staff this quote “tough times don’t last; tough people do” & “better days lie ahead”
You handled this with such a level head and so maturely. I hope things look up for everyone. 💓
