In my experience, before going boost. 17 BRZ full bolt ons, with full tank e85. I was equally as fast as new gen minus end of rpm range in each gear. New gen would pull on me slightly on long straights. But now that I'm boost well I smoke em lol. Great video as always thank you!
that's one way to solve that problem! 😂 but that makes sense, from all the dyno comparisons I've seen they're similar with a very slight edge to the 2nd gen
Hey Dadhats, I was actually at the same SCCA event! I was in the black 370Z running intermediate. I actually just posted a video about the same event a few days ago too haha. I’ve always wondered if I would run into you but I didn’t know what your BRZ looked like. I’ll definitely come up next time :)
Hey man, how many miles do you have on the brz? Looking into potentially getting one as a track car, anything you recommend being aware of looking out for?
I think around 58k. they're great, I'd def recommend them! the early model years (13,14) have issues with coil packs overheating but were updated and fixed in the 2015 model year. 2017-21 manuals also have the 4.3fd that is noticeably quicker. also they all require an oil cooler for track use 👍
Lmao, the first event of the year is always rough. My car was giving me shit too! I had to rip the shift boot off in the paddock since it kept getting wedged in my shifter and blocking me out of 3rd. That last session was great though!
@@dadhats your welcome, it's a mind thing your going so fast your mind thinks it won't hold but it will. stay to the left all the way to the cone then turn in and hang on. it gives you a better shot at the apex. stay safe.
Couple questions about the car. 1. How’s the peak power RPM? 2. Do you have any engine modification plans going forward? (I.e. keep it n/a or boost it) 3. What’s with the dash trim piece?
it's good it pulls all the way to redline! I have a video showing the dyno sheet if you're interested. def keeping it na, not worth taking the hit in reliability in my opinion. I've considered a kswap, but they aren't cheap. I'm more interested in suspension and chassis tuning anyway. that was something the previous owner did and I didn't want to replace that trim piece, the anime stuff is very permanent lol
bad positive connection can cause something called a load dump that can explode every electronic device in your car. it can create long 100V+ transients on the 13.8V bus. devices are meant to be protected against stuff like that, and OEM devices should be protected, but you never know. aftermarket devices are often made by dingdongs who frankly should not be selling any electronics at all, so if you have stuff like aftermarket temperature sensors, can logging, etc, just be very wary about the dangers. finally, if you have phone chargers, make sure you use a good one because i personally had an experience where a transient on the 13.8V bus caused the phone charger to get damaged, and send transients into the phone and kill the phone.
@@dadhats I picked one up last year single owner less than 40k miles but it blew up on me in a month of owning it. Fully stock too. Got a rebuild now but it makes me scared to push the car at all. You seem to be doin good though, keep it up man👍🏾
That’s a poorly placed flag station imo but the flagger was waving a yellow right before the Datsun gave you the point by. I assume the black flag was because you passed under said yellow. I just got a C5 track car myself and might take it to Thunderbolt some time in the future
agreed idk why they put it there. I def missed that flag bc I was busy looking at the car slowing down in front of me. they actually black flagged the entire session to get that mustang off track!

I haven't been on track for over a year and also got the 4.3 diff in my 2016 BRZ earlier this year. Back on track this weekend though!
nice dude good luck!
Is the tune OFT or Ecutek? Who did it?
tuned by xero limit in Easton pa on ecutek 👍
Just ran into your channel. Love it, I would love to race you one day, I'm an owner of a gr86
appreciate you checking out the channel! if you're in the area let's do it!
Love the channel! What transponder/software are you using that you have on your windshield? Thanks !
appreciate it! gps is a Garmin glo 2 I think and the app is race chrono
I haven't tracked in a hot minute as well, looking forward to my next chance!

@dadhats oooh. I didn't think a NA car would need an oil cooler, I'll keep that in mind
Thank you
@@dadhats I got a 97 miata in stead 🤣🤣
Hopefully we will have some battles this year at tnia

tell me about it! lol I think I was behind you at one point in this and looked like you had an issue before you pointed me by
Nice line, turn in later in t9.
thanks! that one always gets me, it's deceivingly late

Man how many track miles have you put on your BRZ?
that's a good question. I would guess around 5-7k? not rly sure tbh

For those of you that were confused, this is NJMP not Watkins Glen. Go home dadhats, your drunk lol J/k rear diff seems to have helped out!
I meant my last time on track was in October of last year at Watkins Glen! lol
NJMP Lightning to be precise. Not sure why this is not mentioned in the video title or description.
Brz, it's a cute toy. Any decent driver in a c8, would destroy it.
