I remember perfectly well when I bought their CD Coming Up in 1996: the excitement of opening it and listening to it at home from the first song to the last. When I later listened to their previous album Dog Man Star and then Sci-Fi Lullabies (the best double B-sides album ever!), I understood that our love would last forever. Caviar!
The last few years my I've watched my favorite bands fade away a non appearing Cure album U2 descend into Disneyland but Suede are blowing me away I love this band I had faith Brett's solo work grew him and Suede would return seasoned but Night Thoughts and The Blue Hour have been more than I could have wished for this is going to be the album that makes Suede the best band in the world today
just got a notification that my ltd coloured vinyl album has been dispatched. possibly the most excited about a suede album since just before head music! 🙂
last year i watched their live and they still got it in them, and this year they still give us some new tracks, that's why i love them over twenty odd years
I do! That rasp was there on the live versions of Coming Up songs. It's not new. I find more emotion in his voice now. Perfection is not what make things great. It's the flaws and idiosyncrasies
OK, I’m gonna say something unpopular. I LOVE Suede. They’re my absolute favorite band - more so than even Zeppelin. And I’m deeply grateful that they’re still creating great music and that there’s still a possibility that I might one day get to see them in concert in the US. But Brett’s voice doesn’t sound good to me when he tries to hit the high notes, and it makes me sad that that lush, glorious voice seems to be starting to fade. It’s definitely ballsy of him to push ahead anyway, and I wouldn’t want the alternative to be Suede no longer making music, because I’m selfish and want that beautiful creative force to continue as long as possible. Wondering if a solution could be writing songs that don’t push his voice into places that it can’t comfortably go, or if that would be too much of an artistic compromise. Really sorry to say this, and I'm not sure if honesty is welcome. Despite what I’ve just said, I love the new stuff, and Suede is still better than any band out there as far as I’m concerned.
I agree his voice isn’t as strong as it was. But that is what happens when you get older. Look at Elton John and boy George their voices have changed too. Brett’s voice changed though as early as coming up. Maybe all the heroin he was taking changed that. Still this song still sounds better live than the studio version.
somehow there will be facts about any recent qualities that we can't deny..but in the end we will still sing along with them right? I hate to see some declining too, but I will still love them and weirdly the songs will still stuck in my head like any other earlier songs..
or just sing it lower and get neil to do a higher backing like the chilis and u2 do. it's a shame because of the new age we live in that u have to preface any critique so much - used to be that it was only a sign that you were really paying attention and invested to critique whereas now i guess u can just be a visiting troll or hater but yeah i fucking love them too. 🙂
your imperfections are so beautiful
With decades, many bands loose the Power. Suede gain It over and over again. Masterpiece
This band is the real deal. Making the best music of their careers and all our lives however many years in. Love you guys so much.

I've always thought that Brett had two little Bretts inside with different voices... Now I'm sure...
This is the rawest track I think I've heard from Suede. I love it!

Brett's voice is getting better and better
Do you hear that rasp when he sings the title of the song? I don't consider that to be better.

Muy grandes!
liking this track, getting strong Smiths vibes
Richard, to misquote Paul Newman's pivitol line in The Hustler... "You play a beautiful game of guitar." :0)
Stunning, needs to be a 12" vinyl with Turn off your brain and yell :)
Imagine how much better this song would be with the 25 year old Brett singing it.
uau
Suede are the Man City of bands. Radiohead are the Liverpool
Where's NEIL?
Simon doesn't age even a bit
I used to think that.
nice teeth, Brett
