RE: North - There's a few reasons North prefers dads apartment... a sense of normalcy like everyone else. Possibly some freedom - less people, paparazzi, rules, security, cameramen. Plus North seems like a daddy's girl... and she probably miss him.

When my parents were separated for a few years dad’s house was lit. The parent with primary custody is always the bad guy because they have to discipline more. Looking back, pops had it easy lol
Together or separated, the disciplinarian or the structure parent is less desired than the willy-nilly parent.
Mothers just suck at parenting, they are always overcompensating for the lack of a male figure in the house. Dads are easy going because they don’t have to overcompensate for a female presence because majority of the time it’s annoying to kids ,

Simplicity wins!! Kids usually will hold on to the things that matter to them the most and I think even with all the money they have, nothing will ever beat just living a regular life with dad. As much fun as dad is, Ye might not let them be as free as we think. I do think he has rules and tells them no to things mom says is ok. And maybe in some way they respect that and him and it draws them closer to him then it does with Kim. Fathers are leaders and it will never change no matter what society says or does to change it.

@brownjaded im not sure you even know what im talking about, but you just couldn't fight the urge to protect the sisterhood. Allow me to enlighten, Mel said that her mom let her boyfriend move in with them when she was 17. She then stated this never would've happened if her father was alive. Another example would be Nia Long who bragged about dating a 30+ year old salon owner while in high school. Her dad was also absent. Point being women tend to make bad choices surrounding their teenage daughters. I.E the large number of black families that are all women and children. And before you say what about the men, 80% of babies are made by 20% of the men. Bad boys be leaving.

I wonder what society would look like if we taught our sons to honor their bodies the same way we try to gatekeep and shame our daughters into honoring their bodies. And how easier it would be for them to connect and form meaningful, loving, respectful, trauma-free relationships later in life as adults! You should want your daughter as strong as your sons and for your sons to be as compassionate as your daughters. People are so weird!

I hate this argument because it ignores the core differences that persist between men and women. There's the ongoing debate of nature versus nurture and while I do agree that we as guardians play a huge part in the people our children become. That doesn't really mean we are the ultimate decider on how our children develop. Boys, tend to (Key word is tend to) be more active as kids, coming into infancy they run more. They do more physically complex and demanding activities like running. This doesn't mean girls don't like running, but as someone who was raised amongst girls. Often times they'd ask me why I like jumping on my bed, emulating wrestling, jumping off and on the Sofa, playing street football barefooted. They'd argue how I'd get hurt, dirty or sick (all of which happened). Most boys have gone through this throughout their lives and the simple answer is I was a child with lots of energy and no where to put it. Again, not saying girls haven't experienced this, I’m saying these are what boys experience more.
This need to do crazy physical or even live a somewhat more free life is something even girls, especially girls in their teens wish they could have. The issue is a lot of girls are actively cautious because they developed this for themselves. The need to protect themselves is something you can see in their earlier behaviour again as they mature quicker than men. Another fact that people don't account for, so even active girls calm their behaviours. While boys played games like tag, or dodge ball, girls choose hopscotch or handshake games. Again, understand it's not as if guardians went and told them what games they should play, the different genders came to those decisions on their own.
This then carries over into adulthood where as a mother, you still carry that cautious approach to parenting. This is great especially for babies who are extremely vulnerable but once kids get older and as they become teenagers. Fathers absolutely shine with their understanding for the need for freedom, exploration and experience pain/loss. They realise that either their child will be happy doing whatever they like, and in the process may learn a valuable lesson after getting hurt. These are things that a mother struggles to teach their children. Again, I want to emphasise that this isn't black and white and some people are well rounded, they are of all of this and adjusting themselves accordingly. It must be said how fathers tend to never accept their daughters growing up and becoming adults, seeing them as little girls. They do this because they want to always protect their daughters which again is the natural instinct of men. Fighting this natural instinct is a big step for fathers similarly to mothers accepting or allowing their children to be more free.
I think it’s okay for Kim to feel hurt but what north said but at the same time, I need her to remember that it doesn’t mean her daughter loves her any less! And on top of that in her house, the children don’t really have privacy

I think dads shelter their daughters too much growing up my dad wasnt super strict like he always wanted us to go out and have fun as kids because thats what he used to do. The way he brought us up was just do good in school, dont be disrespectful, and do whats asked of you. And because my dad was never strict on me about guys when i told him my experiences with guys in class and that would hit on me and other stuff outside of school he was real chill about it and not so against me having a boyfriend because he knows his daughter. And because he never shuned me scolded me or threatened me. Plus he knows i have expectations as a young girl so i knew what guys were on unlike other girls
Respectfully, your last sentence contradicted your initial opening. Most fathers are strict as protectors because they know what's out there and know how vulnerable their daughters can be. Same with Mom's normally and their sons. It's an opposite sex thing to me (Daddy's girl - Momma's boy) -- but back to my point, if I took your word at face value that you were good with knowing what guys were on, that's not the rule, it's the exception and the exception don't make the rule. PARENTS need to be more involved (sons and daughters) in my opinion. Kids have way too much "freedom" and "space" and that isn't always a plus

Cap. I’m that dad & I have more rules & they still want to be here. Fathers provide structure for them to stand on & flourish. Part of that is knowing when to be lenient & when to enforce the boundary. For the kids, that’s safety. Knowing when they need a hug & quality time, vs. space. That’s peace for a kids.
This the comment i was looking for. I’m the same way with my daughters and they still rather be here. The knowing part is because men typically don’t act off emotions, so we know when to be lenient and when not to be. We can be the disciplinarian while also being the fun parent. It’s also how you communicate as well with them.

What's crazy about Mels situtation is that I was in one quite simular, where girl friend was 17 and I was 19 in her mom let me move in because I was homeless at the time.
While my baby is little she enjoys both our homes. She tells me she misses me. Right now she is not a difficult child so we do alot of fun things together. She gives her dad more grace then me. Dad can have all the excuses but me i cant miss at no time😂😂😂

We always loved being at Dad's House over Mom's House! Dad ate much better food, less rules, went more places like the park and concerts and were left alone to enjoy ourselves. Dad's House will always be the best.

Being an indulgent parent is easy when you hesitate to stand on rules, discipline, and structure.
My dad had strict rules for the house I grew up in, but my mom would enforce those rules, so he always came out looking like good cop.
It’s crazy because in my dad’s house it was the opposite. He really enjoyed enforcing the rules. He would always say, “Mom is The President & I’m the Troops!”
Lol, but at 16 I remember there being a time that whenever my mom was out of town on business, as long as my chores around the house were done, I didn’t have a curfew. I came in I think once at 02:30 am and I remember him sleeping so hard he didn’t even hear me 😂

It depends on the dad. My dad was strict, we couldn't even go outside and play, so I preferred mom. Over Mom, we got to play with the other kids in the community, and ride our bicycles you and down and all around😂 so I preferred to stay with mom.
