  • PART 2 IS OUT NOW! go check it out!
Hey guys! Sorry for the late posting (again) :D This video was inspired by some of the videos I've seen of people trying to fly their RC cars with wings strapped to them! This is just part 1 of flying an RC car! perhaps for part 2 the motors will work well and i'll try driving it straight off of a cliff!

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a car should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The car, of course, flies anyways. Because cars don't care what humans think is impossible.

If in doubt... add rocket motors. Great video, yet again. You're a genius, man - how come you're not working for Boeing or Lockheed-Martin, or NASA? No, seriously, some of your R/C designs are astonishing. You've made stuff fly that shouldn't even be considered even slightly airworthy. The huge cargo plane you built and flew was awesome. You do great work, my friend.

I have played with candy rockets. The best mix (I have found) is 59% potassium nitrate, 29% confectioner's sugar (the kind with corn starch in it) and 2% charcoal. Mix this by weight, not volume. The charcoal works as an accelerant and makes the rocket fire without needing to drill all of the way through it to gain thrust.

Wow, another solid video. On sugar rockets..make sure to rough up the ID of the tube where the nozzle clay will be to prevent blow outs. Also warming the fuel before packing makes for better performance. these are 400-600 psi motors, they need at least 800 psi packing pressure otherwise they will CATO. This is a non event as pressure makes the nozzle blow out since PVC is quite elastic.

Peter every place you have put something spanwise on the top of the wing you are killing the lift in that area of the wing for the whole cord of the wing. The gap between the wings and body are also killing the wings lift and likely causing a lot of turbulence over your control surfaces.

I would like to see what plane could be built using only the the electronics from a Traxxas Slash, transmitter, reciever, motor, and servo, (and an extra servo).
Velineon 3500kv brushless motor and speed controller would have to be controlled by the 'switched' third channel on the TQi transmitter, so either on or off.
The throttle trigger on the transmitter would be connected to elevator servo and
the steering wheel would have to be connected to the rudder servo.
What prop would be useful, and how would it be attached to the motor?
Not because it is a good idea or would even work well .. but for the hell of it and because I have a Slash :P

What You could try is a fuse line of different length on a rocket motors. That'd make total burn time longer at cost of maximum thrust, of course.
The other thing I'd like to see would be rockets mounted under CoG, like 45 degrees upward. Just to assist an electric version's takeoff. And put some caps on rockets so they'd jettison after they burned out.

Id give it a go with a lighter car then that + add in a motor with a propeller & it should manage to fly.
