I still don’t understand why state and territories put such a high barrier on a provisional visa. 491 visa holders are already forced to live, work and study in designated regional area of Australia before they are eligible for 191 PR. Getting a 491 invite really should not be a competitive exercise compared to 190 PR.
As for using AI to process visa applications? I mean, PTE almost eliminates human assessor and still can accurately reflect the test takers English language ability via computer for years. Why not?
Maybe AU does not want people to come or disinclines people to come AU by doing so. I also do not understand why most of the states have much more quota in 190 than 491. Does not AU want to develop regional areas? I am pretty sure that so many people would comply with the rule of living in DRA for 2 years while contributing the regional areas enormusly, even by starting a new business. Big cities are full, there is housing crisis, traffic problem etc. Still issue thousands of 189/190 and encourage people to live in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane etc.
Estelle it would be nice if there were plenty of 491 places and the system did not need to be competitive, but when they shrink that is the ineviatable outcome. AI will definitely make its way into the decision making process but the assessment of documents will remain a human approach I think
If even NSW has to reduce the 491 requirements ( after an extreme quota cut), i suppose not many are that interested in that visa class.
@@nguyenanhtuan1196 local experience as various TR visa holder is extremely hard to come by, even though it varies from occupation to occupation. Topped by high bars, (12 mo + working for ONE regional employer) no wonder interest is not high.
@@nguyenanhtuan1196 its not that people are not interested in that visa subclass its that the application bar is quite high so most would not qualify.
Can you make a video on this years state nomination program . Which state’s priority was which occupation and what do you think next year will happen in nomination
Yes good idea, we will
Hi Karl, thanks as always, however it is really hard to belive that 491 processing time is at 9 months, me myself waiting for 12 months (13th ongoing) and people i know, crossed 15 to 18 months at status as received. I wonder if the numbers are just to assure than actual action.
My file was just opened and status went from received to initial assessment. I applied in Nov 2022. They asked my police report again as it was expired. So lets hope they grant me a visa
Every case is assessed independently, as well DOHA might internally decide to prioritise some types of applications (e.g., single, no work experience, simple travel history, no criminal records) over others. Your case might have been deemed too hard to process (cue to last Karl’s video) by case officers, or something else is happening.
All in all, nothing much we can do other than waiting and maybe writing complaint emails about lengthy processing times.
Yes in reality 12-18 months seems to the reality. hang in there Pratik for I'm sure your turn will come soon enough
Could you please make a video about 482 holders and what will happen to them if their occupations removed from the new skill core lists that the government will announce at the end of the year! They are already asking for proposals and removing alot of occupations
Any news about 491 NSW offshore application?
Hello Conrad, 309 visa average processing time has been increased to 24-48 months
Well that is probably the 90% figure not the median one, but still that is bad enough
75 points for priority occupation as retail pharmacist on 491 visa isnt enough to get a nomination ?!!! TRULLY FRUSTRATED
yeah the 491 has slowed down so dont expect much before the next FY
16 months (491) still waiting 😢 no commencement/No S56
Yes some applications are taking much longer. May take longer still so be prepared to wait them out
For 186 TRT, do u still need employer nomination after working for the employer for 2years ? Shouldn’t it be like just submit all the required 2y proofs from the same employer and receive 186 TRT.
That's the way it should be but unfortunately everyone needs another sponsorship application by their employer
Hi Karl,I am waiting 17 month now! When we can expect grants?
Well, if they break the law, they should be punished. Visa conditions are given for a reason. If a migrant has been refused, further for another visa would mean they do not qualify. Wouldn't that be right Karl?
They are in fact not breaking any laws but are reluctant to home after being in Australia for 10 years or more. There is no need to make criminals out of them
@@ailsaustralia some indeed do not break any laws and just try to make a living in Australia, working legally and being law abiding people. Others on the other hand, either being tricked or deliberate, intentionally take advantage of the protection visa program and its generally lengthy processing times to maintain ongoing residence under bridging visas. Australian government wants those people out.
I think the reason there aren't many people apply visa 491 parthway1 to NSW it's not because of the time of working in NSW regional area but its minimum TSMIT, just wonder how many occupations in regional area could earn more than $70k before they changed min TSMIT to $70k
Yes that is a good point. Come to think of it having that TSMIT requirement is not really appropriate as a requirment for a skilled visa application
Thanks Karl! sadly, have been waiting for 190-it's been >12 months and still nothing! SO FRUSTRATING. Upon Lodgment, it was 5months!
Considering some of those 2019/2020 invites have yet to get their visa, while feeling sad for you, I am not surprised to see you have waited this long. You may consider writing complaints to DOHA and see what they might come up aside from generic responses.
yeah I understand but on average 12 months is usually the average. It could happen anytime so hang in there till it does. Remember you are one of the lucky ones
I am waiting for 190 grant too, more then 12 months and still nothing.
"👋 Hey Karl, your video was super helpful! 🙌 I'm on a 491 visa in canberra and wondering if there have been any updates since your video was posted two years ago, especially regarding remote work opportunities in cities like Sydney. 😊 Finding IT jobs in Canberra has been quite a challenge due to clearance requirements. Your insights on this topic in a new video would be highly valued. Thanks a bunch! 🎥💼"
Please keep in mind events of two years ago are well out of date! Lets see what happens in the new financial year before we will cover the updated state requirements
Please contact a registered migration agent or lawyer to address your concern.
Please make a video on longer wait times for grants. Applicants are stuck in their lives and not able to make major life decisions because of Home affairs's incompetency.
yes long processing times are an issue. But you should always plan your lives that perhaps the visa maynot be granted and only make solid plans after the grant date
Hi Karl, Thank you so much for your very useful videos, my friend has submitted his 491 visa application in Apr 23, we thought we will get update within 12 months processing time, but recently it changed to 24 months, do we need to wait another 12 months though we have uploaded all documents properly?
Thank you Karl for your prompt updates. I highly valued and greatly appreciate your efforts.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your support Krishna
i think it may be used for just only screening and the decision would be made by the officer
Or “auto-grant” simple and straightforward applications. Maybe we can see wild swing of visa grants of 189/190/491 from days to 12+ months.
At the moment yes, but things can change quicker than we think
Any news on what's going on with the BIIP? What's going to replace the 188A or 188E visas? Is there even a plan in place for small business people/entrepreneurs?
It seems there is not at the moment but perhaps they are plannig something
How is 491 visa processing time 9 months. Most people I know wsited more than a year and their file is still not open
Yes I understand many of these times do not really seems to be realistic but it is all we can get our hands on.
Hi Karl,
If 491 visa granted, do I have to live in the state that nominated me? Does it will affect future application for 190 or citizenship later if decided to stay in different regional area instead of the one who nominated me.
Thank you
Will you make a video on the new Core Skilled occupation list draft?
I'm wondering if it will be adopted for all the other visas currently based on the MLTSSL
Not until we have all the details, stay tuned
When will 192 visa application start ? It has not started 29th March from what I have checked
Not sure yet, stay tuned
9 months for 491, but I am still waiting for 12 months now.
Hello Karl
What will happen to the 408 pandemic visa holders. Most of 408 visa holders have worked 3, 4+ years in the country full time paying taxes. 482 holders have a pathway to pr after a few years. Since our jobs are not in the occupational list, we should leave the country? As I remember we were told something will change in February for 408 holders , when scrap 408 in last September.
As always the case, when your current visa is about to run out you ether depart or apply another visa. Please contact a registered migration agent or lawyer to discuss your options.
Yes we know that overall the government has not recognised or aknowledged to value 408 visa holders did for the country during the Pandemic. Sadly the country just uses people when it needs tem and throws them onto the junk pile when they are finished with them.
What about 2024-2025 allocation? Any possibility to open RDA or other direct invitation program?
We will see soon for the next FY allocation. Stay tuned
Hi Karl, my wife's visa got denied twice, on the latest occasion my student visa (me being in Australia) with my wife who is back home got denied saying I was supposed to have 66k aud in my sponsors bank account so now my sponsor put 81k aud in her bank account and we applied again. I have 6 months to finish my Master's degree in Regional NSW. What do you think are the chances of getting it approved this time?
Dear KARL
It can be seen that situation is a mess right now. Will there be any impact on the candidates who have already filed their 491 visa back in February
You've filed the 491 visa? Congratulations. None of these changes will have any impact upon you
@@ailsaustralia yes I have filed
Thank you Karl. Do you know how long the 491 subsequent entrant Visa takes to be approved.
Hmmm, they are definitely taking longer than they should. Expect up to 6 months is possible
@karl 491 says 9 months Processing time but me and my wife have been waiting for more than 20 months now, the anxiety and depression of waiting for this uncertainty is the worst feeling ever, special when they don't have any processing format where people who applied after me for same profession got their visa before me, Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks
I really wish I could help. Visa processing can also face delays based upon the type of points claimed such as work experience and if this needs to get verified, that often slows down an application. Hang in there they will get to you
I always try to watch out your best guidelines.
I need guidelines plz...
We received s56 (for spouse English) and submitted PTE result in first week of December 2023.
Till now we did not find any response.
What should we do ?
14 month since we submited fee and dox.
Should I call helpline and ask for details please?
Regards
Nothing much We can do here other than waiting and fingers crossed. I know this is a nerving experience but they will get to you so keep yourself in good shape and don’t collapse especially in the health front.
After supplying these requested docs while it is a good sign there is no timeline they have to finalise an application. Hang in there!
Hi Karl, it would be great if you can gather and present some timelines after s56 issue to grant fpr 190 visa.
There is no timeline after a S56 request I'm afraid. Often they are just used to rpepare an application properly and they wait in a pile for a case officer to get to them
Responding to s56 requests by no means means DOHA has obligation to assess your application within a limited timeframe. We wish there was, something akin to SLA, but that’s unfortunately not a thing today.
Hey Karl!
Regarding the TRT 186 stream: Now that the Skills in Demand Visa is expected to replace the Visa 482, would work experience under the Skills in Demand Visa count to the 2 year requirement under a 482 Visa?
Work experience will count for both visas we expect
@@ailsaustralia thank you!
Is it advisable to move to regional at this point ? To avail this opportunity in next 6 month?
That depends upon many factors, please book a time to discuss
Hope you’re well
I have submitted my EOI with 90 points for 491 in September. I have 5 points of NAATI. I was concerned that after 30 june new policy will be changing the point system. Rumours are NAATI will be removed. Will that effect my already submitted EOIs or it will be applicable for new submissions after the policy?
Definitely when the points changes so will the requirement for people to submit new EOI's I feel. Any outdated things like NAATI, if that occurs, will become useless. However I doubt that it will happen in July since there has been no discussion on this issue which the Minister promised would happen.
Subclass 186 Direct Entry Cabinet Maker applied May 2023, haven’t heard back anything. What’s the current processing times?
Usually about 12 months is the realistic time frame
Thank you.
Thank you for your great videos.
What about the processing time of the 482 please?
That is relatively small so we don't bother about it
@@ailsaustralia Thank you so much for your answer
Those are granted with lightning speed today so don’t worry too much.
I lodged my 491 for NSW off shore on 29-02-24 and last status update on 20-03-24 in fitter general 323211. What is the priority of my occupation in NSW and would I receive grant in less then a year, as per DOHA website the global processing time decreased to 12 months from 17 month of 90% cases.
You could expect the grant will take place in the next 12 months
@@ailsaustralia thanks for your answer please will you tell me about my occupation priority in NSW.
Hi Karl, there are thousands of pharmacists offshore who have passed KAPS and also registered by aphra but are waiting from a long time for invitation. Please make a video when will we receive invitations?
Unfortunately not much I can say for it is the same for many occupations with many people registered their EOI's. Best of luck to you all.
@@ailsaustralia thank you for your response.
Is there any change for 189 invitation round in this fiscal year?
They have been few and far between. We will discuss this shortly
Always wait keenly for your informative videos Karl. Any update/ indications for age cap on 485 visa?
No unfortunately not, but that will come by July we expect
Hi Karl, were waiting on a 190nsw for 14 months, do u think there will be any more grants this financial year ? Thanks
There could be so fingers crossed for you. Don't worry they will get to your application eventually
Hey Karl, where do you get these visa processing times from?
The departments website
when can we expect a 189 round invitation Carl? Any idea?
No one knows. All we can do is crossing fingers.
Yes as Estelle mentioned, that is a mystery at the moment but we will cover some possibilities in the next edition
Is it possible to change from a COVID visa to a student visa to study a master's degree?
You can try. It will depend if the Uni will give you a COE at all. Good luck!
Mr. Karl, I am one of your followers. I am happy to see your beautiful and useful posts. I am from Iraq. Do I have the right to apply and get a job in Australia?
After the partner visa is refused , when it is submitted to the aat for review the decision , can the aat decision be positive ?
Absolutely TW the AAT will generally give you a new fresh hearing of your circumstances and it easier to win at the AAT than dealing with the department
@@ailsaustralia thanks Karl
Hi Karl, hope you are well is remote work acceptable for 491? Company based in Sydney but working remotely in a DRA? Cheers.
Absolutely remote working has been used for years now to gain PR later
Hi carl ,
Any idea when will next 189 round going to happen?
Not really but we will discuss this in the next few weeks
Can you tell me how much time it take to get nomination approval in 482 medium term stream after lodging nomination
Fairly fast nowadays, especially if your employer is already a standard business sponsor, unless department holds adverse information on your employer and needs to check things beforehand.
Usually 1-2 months
When will they start granting 491 visa in bulk ...they r too slow nowadays
Yes before the end of the FY they tend to slow down
As if they were so fast before 😂
Greetings Karl. I have been watching your amazing videos and have been hooked since long for updates from your side.
I will be really happy if you could also discuss about the situation about Pharmacists and their situation, currently as being a priority occupation, still many of the KAPS qualified skilled workers are stuck since March 2023. Due to reduced state allocations, a lot of us are worried about the future of this healthcare sector because even employers are not aware of the process of sponsorship process for offshores. Can you please highlight or talk about these issues in your future videos. Appreciate your efforts.
This year has been a horror one for everybody waiting. We all need to wait to see what allocations the states are given. We will know that before July so hang in there. Thanks so much for your positive feedback
Can get a 482 visa sponsor after finishing cert 3 in age care?
They are out there but still hard to find
Is this processing time applicable to those who have applied since last year
in general yes
Hi Karl
What are the options for mechanical engineering technicians in WA?
Need to wait for their new requirments after July for they are closed now
Thank you, Karl. I appreciate your work as it is helping many people like me.
my boyfriend 6 months covid visa expire on this July. He apply two years training visa of this july so we plan to our wedding end of this year and apply my visa. so is mandatory pte for my visa
Looking at the current and future circumstances, what would you prefer, building experience offshore and applying skilled visa or coming to Australia on a study visa and aim for PR. Which one is the better option for PR?
Thanks for the amazing video as always.
One thing that’s certain is work experience will be favoured more and more as time goes on. You also have to take into account the innate difficulty of finding “matching” jobs for Australian work experience as TR visa holder. There is really no generally better option without assessing your own circumstances. For example, Can you endure 5+ years of wait for a chance to be invited while working odd jobs as temporary resident like i did before getting invitation?
That depends upon alot of variables and which occupation
@@ailsaustralia Occupation is Mechanical Engineer, but what should be the case generally?
@@FaizalAkram please contact a registered migration agent or lawyer to address your concern.
Using AI is probably a bad idea as there are loopholes when it comes to scanning submitted documents. To the more knowledgeable individuals who has IT experience, people can put hidden message as instructions on some areas of the document, usually the headings, which will instruct the AI to ignore all the message and approve the document. In this case, the Government should look into this matter before considering using AI into their current system as it can still be exploited.
Hmmm, interesting. Im sure they also must be aware of that but good point
No doubt there will be tons of training and vetting against human officers performance before AI can be truly put into action. We won’t get our visa applications AI assessed too soon.
Hi one of my friend live in South Korea and he was in over stay (without visa) his wife wants to migrate to Australia with her husband.but she afraid to apply visa because of her husband’s migration history.any advice please?
Overstay will usually not affect a visa PR visa outcome if it was some time ago. Obtaining another temporary visa again though will be very difficult.

Possible they have shifted 189 places to elsewhere
@@ailsaustralia damn.. from 30.5 K, how many places do u think they might shift next year... 10k???

@@saadhassan7431 You might be right but I still think that most of the states will prioritise educational, healthcare, social worker, agricultural, infrastracture etc professionals. I have a strong feeling that this trend will remain. As for 189, I am doubtful about its future. DOHA will introduce the new skills in demand visa and encourages people to find an employer and come with this visa. No more lottery. We will see the next FYs quota soon. Until housing crisis get mitigated and point test system overhauled, I am not that optimistic.

Hey Karl. Thanks for the video. The visa processing time for the 491 visa seems to be a huge joke and insult for everyone who's waiting for them. The official website shows the 90 percentage is 12 months what is an absolute bullsh*t because the real time is 15-25 months. The department has almost stopped issuing them and switched to 190 and 189 (which almost completely consists of priority occupations) making the 491 visa is more unwanted and unattractive. O'Neil has turned everything upside down and created a huge turmoil blaming the opposition for her mistakes. The Labor party, which seemed to be known for its friendliness to immigrants, has become even worse than the Liberals. I bet the Liberals will come into power in the next elections, start blaming the Labors and demolish everything what the previous party has done what will extend the processing time again, but we have to wait, and wait, and wait...
Yes they should have the backlog well under control. However they did issue a large number of invitations the year before and this has in fact contributed to the slow down for 491 applicants. Hang in there for it will be worth it in the lond run
Trust me, if liberal is in power, 491 processing time can be blown out to 48 months while liberal cuts funding on Department of Home Affairs. Even today they still have no idea how to operate the immigration system. Labor government despite all the woes, actually tried to fix this mess, however unprofessional and/or unethical you may feel. While I am not happy about some of their policy changes and believe they totally miss the mark, they did issue several massive waves of invites when they just got into power, creating the golden year of migration after several years of standing still and pandemic.
@@estellebright2579 I'm pretty sure the Liberals won't be able to improve the situation, that's why I wrote the processing time would be likely to go up in case of coming into power. However, the Laborers haven't got anything better but created another mess instead. You wrote that DHA had put lower quotas for 491 than for 190. I don't understand it either. But they're keeping complaining that they have no people to work in the Regions, and keeping defaming 491 visa more and more so that nobody will want it, and the processing time is the best demonstration. Both parties have failed not only managing immigration but ruling the whole country. The 2-party system must be torn down once and for all.
How many 189 places have been shifted to other visas??10 k or 15 k??
No one knows. And DOHA doesn’t announce such move either.
Unfortunately Karl doesn't work for the DHA 😂
I suspect many will be shifted to the 186 quotas depending on how many people on the short term 482 visas will apply
