This could be great for camping if you combine it with solar for charging during the day and then use it at night. Can't wait to hear what the run time is like.
Colorado4x4Van it can't be charged by DC power, but they are coming out with different models which can charge off a solar power system and this model can recharge off the AC outlet on some of those.
There is portable generator that charges “solar”, 12v dc car, or 120v ac, and it can charge and discharge @ the same time but it is not quite 1800w close though. I am waiting until Dewalt catches up before I get one of their power stations, I really like the idea that batteries can be changed, etc.
I was about to suggest running a vacuum off this but I seen the end text where u said u did already. That would be awesome to have a full size cordless vacuum!! No need to hassle with extensions when you go from room to room. Great video!!!!
I run mine with the new 12 amp 60v flexvolt to run a small mig welder ar 80 amps for about 2hrs. Amazing pack , i just wish that you could of charge snd use as well.
@@Rev792 chopsaw, table saw, rice cooker, pressure washer, even a 500w heater...for like 15 mins. Best used for power tools as the inverter is modified sine wave aka not good for sensitive circuit boards. I think you may be better off buying an 18v 1800w pure sine wave inverter and tying the 9ah dewalt batteries in parallel
I look forward for when this comes to Australia in a 240V variant. Be great for running dust extractors or other tools which you cant get in cordless. Or even like run a laptop or something off it during a power cut etc.
humm. the guy mentioned 240v. but that is for fast charging only? The reason it takes 2 hours to charge is that you can only get so much power out of the wall.
So is all that this does is become a dock for battery's that can use the battery power to run things or is it its own battery and charges the battery's when not plugged in
Harry hey Harry. It has no internal batteries. When plugged in to A/C it will recharge up to 4 batteries simultaneously, OR, When not plugged in it can use 4 batteries to provide 120V A/C just like a generator... Thing is though, as soon as 1 of those batteries is drained the whole thing shuts down, it needs all 4 batteries in order to work.... Hope this helps.
If you miss place that short charging cable... can you use a standard cord? It looks like the "plug" is flush with the case, thus some cords will not fit inside.
For just charging would I be better off getting four Flexvolt fast chargers? I am thinking I can get four 6hr batteries charged in an hour with four fast charges.
robalan57 thats what i do. I have 4 9ah batteries and charge them with fast chargers it charges all 4 batts in 70mins. I charge them with solar. Inverter
We use floor covering heat welders I'd be interested to see if I could put this between a spider box & the heat welder to get more consistent power to the heat welder. We often find spider boxes do not produce reliable power when running a welder
run time seems pretty small 9 minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time for running tools plus if it charges all 4 batteries at the same time in 2 hours I'd rather have a charger that charges them one after the other so at least I can use one in 45 minutes or so.
My 20 gallon husky air comp pulls 13 amps at start up, then rises to 15 amps once the tank is full and 155 psi is reached.. I use this to test my gas compressor once per month
According to the spec, Rolair 1HP air compressor in the video uses 8 amp, so 120x8 = 960W In theory, since the battery pack has 360W, if I don't count startup draw and conversion loss, it can run for 22.5 min. So, in real life, maybe it will run for about 10 to 15 min if the compressor motor restarts couple times? (with 4 5Ah batteries) I'd love to see if you can actually check the run time.
The only thing that would make me buy something like this is if I needed this as a backup for a medical machine that doesn't already have an alternative power source.
It would be good for camping and emergency power ( if you had 4 fully charged batteries ready to go and some extras) can't see many uses for it on the jobsite,
Hey guys. Love the channel, this is a power inverter,, just like those ones you can plug into your cigarette lighter. To answer your 80volt question. You guys can't compare D.C. Volts (batteries) to AC volts, they are different. I'm sure you are thinking well what about flex volts?? That different because it has to do with just a motor, lots of motors are capable of running off D.C. And AC. And that is all there is to those machines,,, just a motor.. you would never be able to take a tv from your house and hook it up to DEWALT batteries and make it work. Adding 1 flex volt to 3 of the 4.0 batteries doesn't change the power, weakest battery is what you get, adding 4 flex volts would but weakest charge/ weakest battery amp is what you get

The DCW1800 is not THAT good. Gives power for a little more than two hours . Some calculated that a fridge could run for a whole night on it or they calculated a day of watching TV etc. This power station gives up very fast if low energy consuming things are connected. Even if you just forget to switch the power station off the batteries will be drained within 2 hours . Recommend a good inverter and a few car batteries. Cheaper.
why? why would you choose this over a small generator, as for running indoor, well you still need leads for whatever your plugged in to! you also have the expense of batteries and the downtime whilst charging. so why

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. No matter what batteries you put in it, it only puts out 120 Volts AC
240 volts maybe with 4 flex volts on it? be sick if it is
Its obviously has a power inverter in it -____-
80v @ 1Ah is 80W
80v -> 120v would draw 1.5 amp for 120v @ 1 amp or 120W
That's not how it works. It is not a volt for volt trade.
a cool thing.
try using it as a home generator.
Cheaper.
nobody talks about the price of this unit. after purchasing the unit and 4 batteries seperatley you are approaching 1000 dollars.
I bought mine today at mardens with 3 4ah 20v and 1 flex volt 6ah for $371.99

You can use 4 9.0 batteries with this!!!
$600 with batteries...ouch LOL.
William Sevier i can get them for 400 without batteries
that rolair compressor only draws 7 amps
Wanted it bad, got it and doesn't have near the runtime as advertised. They are already on clearance. Awesome concept but no good
why? why would you choose this over a small generator, as for running indoor, well you still need leads for whatever your plugged in to! you also have the expense of batteries and the downtime whilst charging. so why
FYI, lithium manufacturing and disposal is far worse than gasoline
