Short answer, yes... I have 2023 2500 laramie, same rig... it drives great, ... Park it next to a Ram 1500 every day..both great trucks... I have a short commute, getting old, go Big!@@GoodOlRoll
I have a ‘21 2500 6.7 Cummins 4x4 short bed, been thinking of trading for a 3500 hemi because of the price of diesel, wife’s a travel nurse and I pull a travel trailer around the country 40ft Jayco bumper pull, is it worth it or will I regret it
no. Not if you want to keep it forever. The 6.4l is the only gas motor to ever be fully forged from the factory post 2019. In 2019 they forged the wrist pins.
My 2021 7.3 f350 platinum only got 5mpg towing and the transmission blew up at 16,000 miles, meanwhile my 2015 ram 3500 6.4 is close to 200,000 miles with no major problems.
We had two 6.4s at work o escape b,ew the tranny at 72K the other ate the cam at 67k. They were faster off the line than the 7.3 but pulling the same weight the 7.3 walked off a d left the 6.4s and the 7.3 is still going at 79k with no issues at all. But it is what you like, I guess.
I have a 2022 ram 2500 gasser.....I pull an Arctic Wolf 3550suite 5th wheel, and have had ZERO issues with having enough power......or any mechanical issues what so ever. This dude just doesn't like Ram trucks. To each their own....I have had all 3 major makers trucks, and currently the Ram is the best I have driven in quite a while. Btw, I average 15-17.5 mpg empty, and pulling my near 11,000 pound unit, get 10-12. Not too bad
My 22 Ram 2500 runs great. I only have 12k miles on mine but my mpg is getting better. I am averaging 14 to 16 depending on the hills and wind. Pulling my 7k lb camper getting 12 mpg. I don't think that's too bad for 3.73 gears.
I haven't regreted it yet. lol My AEV Ram power wagon is 6 years old unlike your new Ford. New Ford engine. You don't have to bash Ram to try and justify your choice for Ford. It's my hard earned money thank you very much. I owned a Ford once. It burnt to the ground in the parking lot of my work which was a chemical plant in 1995. Say what you want about RAM. This is my second one after 12 years of trouble free miles on the first Ram 1500 03 quad 4x4 Hemi with 114,000 miles. I dont like Fords chime, aluminum body, body design, interiors, Fords history with fire and fire recalls. I tow a 10,000lbs toy hauler off road in soft sand and don't think there is a better truck for that job. Enjoy your Ford and quit being a hater.
As a Ford guy, I must say these 6.4 Rams with the 8 speed really get after it. I lined up today with one in my 2017 6.2 f350 and 4:30 gears. I may have messed him up from 0-60, but he reeled me in and passed me right at 70mph. I had a frown on my face for a few minutes lol but oh well, he had more gears and motor than I did. Time for some cam swaps and pro charger! 😉
@@trinidyjohnson9295 Same here. I have 2 Ford F150's, a '99 with a 5.4 and a '13 with a 5.0. Both have been great trucks. Ended up adding a '23 RAM 2500 6.4 as I needed something bigger for towing. It's now my daily driver as well. My wife drives the '13 now, and it still looks and runs like new with 86k miles. Fingers crossed the RAM is as solid as my Fords have been.
Was a ford guy early in my driving life, been a GMC guy for the most of my driving life, bought a 24 Ram 2500 Hemi in April, absolutely love it. Pull a 14k equipment trailer and a 14k dump trailer with it. Pulls better than my last GMC 2500 gasser. Drives and rides a lot nicer than any of them ever did also. Is it perfect, no, but none of them are.
My 2022 tradesman with a 6.4 and 4.10s is amazing. I have pulled numorus loads over 12 thousend pounds up step grades in arizona with zero issues and no overheating. my friend and I compared his 17 cummins to my truck and was very suprised. While he did pull better up the steep mountain grades he didnt pull away from me.
Love the title of this video lol. So when exactly am I supposed to start regretting it? I have a 2022 with the 6.4L and 4:10's. Got 20k miles on it about 3/4 of those . Were pulling a 15k gooseneck dump trailer. I have never had any issues. Where I live it is not flat. Honestly my opinion you are talking out your ass man. Yes the 7.3 is more powerful. It's also 10k more for that engine lol. This is just a click bait video. Also spoilers alert. The vin check thing only affected a small amount of trucks. Mine hasn't changed so there's that.
I’m coming from a 2021 6.7 lariat f250 to a new ram 2500 6.4 Laramie - I love it. I like the interior and screen much better, the ride is much better and I haven’t had any issues with the 6.4, it has good power, sounds good and is a ton of fun for a gasser.
I think the hemi in these trucks are great. It feels a lot faster than any diesel when you are driving it. The 2021 PW 2500 feels fast. And not fast for a truck. It genuinely is quick and the transmission shifts well, the gearing is great. The problem is if you want a crew cab long bed, and a ram, the only real options is a hemi 2500 or a Cummins 3500. You cannot get a Cummins 2500 as the payload is significantly reduced from the hemi and while the max towing capacity goes up, since the payload is so low you can't even haul more because the rear of the truck will be pushed down too far. You can actually probably can haul more with the hemi 2500 than the Cummins 2500. Therefore if you want a diesel crew cab long bed and a ram, you must purchase a 3500. Now the problem with the 3500 is that it is nowhere near as comfortable to daily as the 2500. You only want to purchase the 3500 if you really need that towing capacity otherwise a 2500 is a much better daily driver. Also, that hemi will feel a lot nicer to daily than any diesel, diesels are slugs when you are not hauling. Therefore I think a crew cab long bed hemi 2500 is a great truck and a perfect daily driver. If you really need the extra towing capacity then get a 3500 Cummins. Edit: another thing I forgot to mention is reliability and repairability. Diesels have gotten way too high tech and complicated for me. That hemi is dead simple and naturally aspirated. Just that is a significant reason for me to consider it over a modern Cummins.
Disagree, love mine... Only 8500 miles about 60% towing, but it is a great truck FOR MY NEEDS pulling a 7K travel trailer 1000 lb tongue weight, light off roading and transfer station duty... The 7.3 is intriguing, but I'm good and didn't like the thought of week long trips in that Ford Cab... Just my opinion...
Oh no, you didn't get a bad one. I jjust did a 1700 mile camping trip and averaged right at 8.3 mpg. AND...that was an improvement with new tires over the OEMs which did around 7.8 their last time out. I figured the difference was worth around 30 bucks on the trip. That 392 cubic inches is a thirsty beast. But, without the trailer on the highway, I hit 16 quite often if its flat, no wind and cruise control and I hold my head just right. Those days are few and far between though.@@trinidyjohnson9295
I have a 22’ Power Wagon. Very happy with it. I like the interior a little better over the ford f250 but is starting to look dated. Power is adequate for my uses and living in LA I like the shorter size. I was trying to get a Ford F-250 with the 7.3 back in early 2022, but wasn’t able to get one if my life depended on it. I’ll keep the Ram for awhile for now
The fan clutch on my 2022 RAM 2500 Hemi locked up and it was roaring. The dealer agreed that the clutch was faulty and replaced it under warranty. No further clutch failure was encountered.
I have a 17' 1500 5.7 and I noticed mine appeared to do that a few weeks ago when camping near La Veta Pass, Colorado. Camped this past weekend and didn't notice it. Wonder if I'm going to have a problem down the road.
I have had 2 rams with the 6.4 hemi tow my camper everywhere without any problems. You sound like a fanboy of the Godzilla motor hope you like working on it
I do like it....I think after having 15 rams over the past 20 years, I can say the cummins would be my favorite from t Ram. My uncle loves his hemi 6.4. I just like a lot more aspects of my ford and the 7.3. I actually loved both my v10 rams from the late 90s....man those things crushed today's v10 from ford. I feel though that the quality is down from 16 ram mega cab I had built for me. I used to sell rams and chevys and gmc and ford's. I would be absolutely ticked about losing trailer tow rating and payload, as that will hurt on warranty stuff. That was very odd of ram. It definitely fits the bill for a lot of people and as long as they are happy that's the best! Safe travels and fun camping.
No regrets here. 6.4 is awesome! I had a 2005 5.7 2500 manual transmission for many years and only major issue I had with it was replacing the clutch. Matter a fact every dodge ram I’ve ever owned has been an awesome truck. Keeping up on the maintenance is the key.
Simply put the Ram is the oldest truck with the oldest body style and an engine that was designed 10 years ago. Is it better than the GM 6.0 and Ford 6.2, sure. But both GM and Ford upped their game and now it’s fallen behind. ZF 8 speed is awesome though, if I were to get a 6.4 it would have to have the 4.10 gears.
ive had a 21 6.4 with 3.73s, and ive had a 21 7.3 with 3.55s. the Ford ten speed is absolute trash. sold it and highly considering. Rams vin decoder is still there. ive been doing it shopping for the past week. youre payload is your gvwr-curb weight. they cant change that. if you got 3.73s, then its 14k, if you get 4.10s its 16000+
Had an f250 for only a few months , the intior was nice I liked the quality feel of the dash.I traded it in for a 2024 ram 2500 because compared to the ram the ford drove like a u hual 26' box truck ,very un responsive steering and the seating position never felt right. This all maybe due to it being an xlt not a lariat or higher ,though the ram 2500 is just a tradsmen with the crome package basically im very happy with it and plan on keeping it many years,I just wish it didn't have that MDS crap in the motor!
I have a nephew who is a Dodge fan ( Ram .. whatever one wants to call them ) and his last pickup he bought which is a few years ago now is a Ram 2500 crew cab long box and it has the coil suspension and 6.4 hemi. He seems to like it, claims it gets not bad fuel mileage and certainly better then the GM 6.0 gas engine ever got as they were never known to be good on fuel unfortunately. He had two different 1 ton dually diesel Rams before that which he had mechanics tool cabinets on and had at least one trans failure and the newer of the two had an injector tip fail that took out the cylinder, fortunately it was still on warranty as the engine had to be rebuilt. He drives a Ford 3/4 for his work that has the 6.2 gas and he certainly likes his Ram a lot better for ride and the major issue his company Ford has had for high speed steering wobble repeatedly. I like the Ford pickups but that high speed steering wobble potential has cooled my interest in owning one if I end up with that issue. As to going to the Ram dealer and having a pretty dismal experience, indeed a lot of that has to do with people and not a product, oh well ... no commission for that salesman 😆
I have a '19 F250. Had same issue with steering wobble at 14K miles. Took it to Ford and they replaced one of the bars and the steering shock. Then for my own comfort, I put on a dual shock steering stabilizer. Handles dirt roads great, definitely a much better ride.
@@jeremyvoight7360 With the truck my nephew drives for the company he works for, some of the others are having the same issue he has been having with the similar truck and yes his started doing that at a similar mileage to your truck and it was brought to the dealer and each time they claimed there was nothing wrong and then eventually Ford came out with that new steering shock and for a while that solved the issue ... then it came back again as I suspect that single shock can't cope with the forces as it wore in. But also and this is mind boggling but at just over 60 thousand miles the front wheel bearings are being replaced for the second time, that is very odd and I don't know if the steering wobble has caused this or just the luck of the draw. Something to check on yours though to make sure there is no play in the front wheel bearings. I don't want to sound like I am ragging on Ford, they all have issues and far too complex a systems on trucks that are potential problems.
Disagree with the author. I traded a 2019 F-350 gasser for a 2023 Ram 3500 gasser (4.10 rear end) because of the dreaded Ford Death Wobble, but that's a different story. So far the Ram has outperformed the Ford. I'm currently pulling a Reflection 337RLS 5th wheel. Where the Ford struggled on hills, the Ram cruises. Granted I'm talking one tons and he's talking 3/4, but the engines are the same in the two classes.
I find that the 6.4 gas engine warms quiickly in freezing weather and generates plenty of heat in the cab. Heated seats and steering wheel are very nice. I have to reduce the fan speed once the engine is fully warmed.
Here’s my issue with Ford and Chevy - finding a gasser with the options I want is extremely difficult. Ram is the only one who seems to stock an HD gasser with more than a handful of features. I don’t want a work truck, I want a well optioned gas HD, today. Not months from now because I had to order it. There are 2 F250s with the 7.3 and the features I want within 150 miles. Chevy has better inventory but it’s still difficult to find what I want.
That's understandable for sure. I've had tons of rams, loved em all. I haven't had a gas ram since my v10 2001. Ram currently here has way more inventory and they have packaged the trucks well since 2011, and pricewise they are less than ford and less or equal to chevy. I don't like the active fuel management in the 6.4, but many do. If it has what you want and pulls what you need and the price is right, I'd go for it. With two of my 4 sons still at home (all almost 6 foot plus) I'd have to get a mega cab again and that really hurts the towing numbers of the ram. And I don't see myself buying a diesel again. But my uncle loves his 2500 ram 6.4 it's a 21 and many do.
@@automotiveinquiries9673 agree 100% on active fuel management, it’s on my 1500. It’s completely unnecessary and does nothing for fuel economy. I also get the cab size issue and it makes sense for your use case. We have no kids (and rarely have anyone in the back) so it’s not a factor. I do like that 7.3 (quickest gasser up the Ike gauntlet!) I just hate the order time. I’ve watched a few of your vids and enjoy them.
A big reason the Ram 2500 has less payload than the F-250 and Silverado 2500 is Ram sticks to a true Class 2 9,999 lb GVWR while Ford and GM both go over that. A lot people want Ram to increase their gvwr on their 2500 series trucks for more payload. The limiting factor might be the coil springs.
I test drove a 2023 f250 today and was disappointed. I wanted to love it but it was not the case for me. i have a ram 1500 now and want to upgrade to tow my new 5th wheel. i will drive the ram to compare. my trailer is only 9500 lbs dry so i don't think Ram will have any problem.
Yeah, I was thinking a GM in the 6.6 gas too until they are having the same problem as the 5.3 was with 1qt of oil consumption in 100 gallons of fuel...no thanks!
He just sounds bitter, but he has stated that he has had several RAMs before. However to be fair, I hate Ford the way he hates RAM. When I was in the military, we used nothing but Fords, and they were in the shop, enduring life support all the time. From my experience, we were left stranded several SEVERAL times, so that was just my disstain of Ford. I like and would like to purchase a Chevy and GMC, but Ford is a mechanics Dreamland.
My 2022 F-250 Super Duty is junk (7.3 Godzilla)… 3,800 miles: leaking trans fluid, shifting bad, grinding gears from 5 to 4 and 4 to 3, shakes at idle, infotainment system blacks out until I restart the truck, etc. I’m so disappointed because the engine seems great, but everything else is a let down so far…
@@CountrysideLawnService Yep, it unfortunately is making me very wary of grabbing one because depending on how long it sat before being shipped off it could have issues. My hypothesis is that the trucks that sat have weakened plastics due to sitting in the elements with no maintenance or run time. So any lubricated parts likely dried out and the plastics used on the externals as well as orings probably cracked or weakened significantly. It should be a recall imo. It is a real shame because I have just absolutely loved the idea of getting a 7.3 Godzilla but the new 2023+ trucks imo are too expensive and don't look as good as the 2017-2022 models. Unfortunately I need more than the 6.2 2017-2019 can offer and I don't want a diesel...so i gotta find myself a nice 7.3 with no issues.
I had a 2021 F-350 7.3 . I hated the 10 speed , it only shifted good in tow / haul towing a load . I felt that the trans was gonna be a huge expensive issue down the road . I was comming up on the end of my factory warranty ending and I traded it in yesterday on a new Ram 2500 6.4 8 speed . Runs great compared to that wonky shifting ford 10 speed! No regrets at all. I’ve had two Ram 2500s in the past . A 2014 5.7 and a 2018 6.4 both great plow trucks and made me a ton of money!
Your channel is doing great, Can I suggest getting a selfie extension for your phone to come back from your face a bit and then look into the camera like your talking to your mom.
I always get a kick out of those obsessed with Ford (only God knows why) put out videos slamming all the other brands. I have a 2022 Ram 2500 with the Hemi, I pull a 39 foot 5th wheel with NO issues with power, and get 11-12 mpg pulling it. I think these Ford guys that put out these videos slamming other brands are just trying to convince themselves that THEY made a good purchase.....good luck!
I've built a few gasser 3/4 ton Rams on the website and they seem WAY more expensive than Chevy and Ford. I've been comparing LTZ, Lariat, and Laramie trim levels and adding a few options. In fact, it seems to me that an LTZ Chevrolet is a sweet spot for sticking around that $70,000 mark.
If you go diesel for towing purposes Cummins+Aisin 3500 srw is the only way to go for light to medium duty towing now if she's (the truck) just a princess then gasser and Powerstroke or Duramax all day. Me when I found out in the end of 2016 that the 6spd manuals on the Cummins trucks were being phased out by the end of 2018. I ran out in the last week of 2016 and ordered My 2017 Ram 2500 4×4 crew cab 6.4ft box 6.7 Cummins 6spd manual Tradesman with every possible option you can get for that trim level for $52,499.00 out the door. Which was $5,000.00 cheaper than the half ton sport 4x4 Ram. A FAR LESS RELIABLE TRUCK.
I miss my 06 h.o. manual.... beast.....I had the aisin..h.o. in my 16... it was s great truck.... interior of that laramie felt better than today's laramie.... feels like they went down in quality....... but the cummins with 6spd is awesome.
I had a ‘17 f350 dually that had the dreaded death wabble. I dunno if they got rid of that or not but that’s the reason I’m not keen on the Fords. That wobble was not fun
Some of.our 18s had it. Across to ford it was the front end stabilizer strut/shock. I haven't had the wobble in any of my ford's, I've had 8 super duty trucks. I've never had any issues with the suspension on my rams or chevy/gmc trucks. But I get it, that wobble can kill and at least make someone's but pucker.
I call B.S..i work for KDOT we have two f250 crewcab lwb gassers 2022 models and out of all the chevys and rams when have on the yard lot the f250s are by far the biggest POS... every time you turn around one or the other is in the damn shop for something and we dont work these trucks hard either. taking a crew of men to the job site or maybe tow a message board from time to time. The ford tough quality is laughable.
I bought my Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi for working in the bush, so lots of off-road low m slow. I absolutely love it's capabilities and ride. The only thing I regret about it is the 66RFE, sure wish it had a different option for the tranny department.
It's crazy....I think they did it because they had people overloading it based on the ratings.....several trucks I looked at lost several thousand in tow rating...
@AutoMotive Inquiries I think you're right and it seemed to have happened not long after that post went viral about that guy with the 3500 and bed camper with the bent frame.
I had the 17 1500 with the 5.7....had 5000pound airbags and pulled a 32 foot camper that was 10.000 pound and sume change......pulled it awesome....now I have the 6.4 ram......the gas mileage is a deal braker
@@DM-tf6mk the difference in fuel mileage while towing is like night and day.... Right around 13 14 for that 5.7 and anywhere from 2 to 7 mpg that 6.4.... and that's no joke I love the 6.4 it is a monster but the fuel mileage is a deal breaker with no load I get about 8 to 10 around town and the best I've ever got on the freeway with engine management activated so it's only running on 4 cylinders is 14 miles to the gallon
This is 100% fact. Go to any campground and look what trucks are pulling heavy campers and 5th wheels. You will see mostly Fords and Rams. My wife and I noticed this every time we go camping. Maybe there’s a reason?
My friend you must be lucky my 2022 Ford F-250 is 16,000mi deep new transmission and my 7.3 has had finicky problems like spark plug wires I guess and a rear main all has been well but I wouldn’t say any of the three brands are that much better than the other I liked my 2020 ram 2500 hemi a lot..
I have a 2022 2500 Laramie 6.4 with the 4.10s. It pulls like a train. The only thing I don’t like is that it hunts for gears a lot when towing and rarely goes into 8th when towing. I have been towing with Cummins for years until going back to a Hemi. Maybe that’s normal not to downshift into 8th when towing.
When in Tow/Haul mode it really isnt meant to shift into 8th. Its like an overdrive. I usually manually set my gears into 6th and just let it cruise. Also, when not in Tow/Haul, if you manually set the gears to 8th it disables the MDS and allows all 8 cylinders to fire.
@@andycarrell7320 and the best engine. Transmission issues are blown out of proportion online. Tuning and adding hp had been a big problem for transmissions on all makes. They are only made for so much horsepower.
Id go with the 2024 Chevy. Even the hd work truck looks better than the interior on that ford. That plastic trim on the doors and the seats looks cheap.
I'm actually not anti ram at all, I think.ive owned close to 15 rams in 20 years. I sold my 16 mega dually diesel to the neighbor. But in true form all manufacturers build something and then find a way to make it cheaper. I found tell the difference from my 16 to the 22. It felt cheaper. That being said, ram is a great truck, but it does lack inseveral areas, but thays because the hd ram is basically the same as it was in 10. The 1500 got the new crew style but ram reps when I met with them back when it came out, they said they would run the current hd with only minor body and interior changes as long as they can to save money. Ram is good, not for me at this time, and I think they need to step to the plate like the other big names.
Ram’s popularity came about based on price. For the longest time you could buy a diesel Ram for what you would give for a gas Chevy or Ford. Now Ram is as much or higher than the other two since there’s no real rebates to speak of. With that said I think Ram will start heavily discounting this year. The facts are they have the oldest truck on the market. This overall bodystyle came out in 2010. They are noticeably smaller than the other two like you said. And you left out the 6.4 has cylinder shutdown technology. That in my opinion has no place in any truck but definitely not an HD.
You have a point on pricing and aging on the cab in particular. After buying mine with a sticker MSRP of 63,600, last March, I continued to "build" my 2022 HEMI until they shut down the ordering on the Ram Build site. My same truck went up close to 10,000 bucks between March of 2022 (Built Dec 2021) and November of 2022 MSRP Monroney. I thought I got an OK deal in March of last year. By December of 2022, I got a killer deal...same truck... I had a 2021 1500 where they really improved the inside and when I got the 2500, it was a letdown. Smaller cab than the 1500 by like four inches front to back, no telescoping steering wheel, old style cruise control manual shifting so I felt like I was in a "classic" 1500... Even my 18 Renegade had the improved cruise control. But, overall, it is a very good truck and I'm very happy with it once I after marketed it as I desired... The dogs are the only ones suffering from the space loss... IF RAM had used the 1500 cab as an upgrade in 2019, any issues I had would be solved.
@@Redfour5 nice to hear an owners perspective. Personally I like the styling and I feel like they have enough room as they are. And if you never get in a GM or a Ford (or a 1500 Ram) you would probably think people was crazy for mentioning the room. I considered a 2500 Ram while I was waiting for my 2500 Silverado to come in (ordered October 8, 2021 took delivery December 14, 2021) but ultimately the cylinder shut down technology turned me away. I had just had a lifter failure in a 2021 5.3 Silverado and was waiting on it to get fixed when I ordered my 2500 6.6 gas Silverado. So around the time I ordered my Silverado I had been pricing Ram’s. I couldn’t find any Big Horns local but had a decent offer on a Tradesman. But the cylinder shutdown and coil rear suspension was the main reasons I decided to just wait for my Silverado.
The 7.3 is a piece of crap. The 6.4 is the only motor to ever be fully forged from the factory post 19. Even though the gm looks better on paper, the 6.4 will outpull it by a lot up hills. The ram having that fully forged motor, you have to do a break in. I got 11mpg the first day. After 3k miles i was getting 15. Now i have 8k and 55mph i can get 19. If i have to run around town, 15.
lol. Now talk about those transmission issues ford and Chevy have. Used to be ram now it’s switched. Also talk about how ford and Chevy are 10-20k more in price.
Chevy 6 speed transmission has high failure rates and Chevy frames rust through in 10 years if you live in salt country. Lot's of luck in your Chevy journey.
Lost me at ANY complaint about a Laramie. especially if you said you did your research on the vehicle. So you obviously no NOTHING ABOUT trim packages and what is lost. I’ve a got buddies well over 6’-5” who have no issues sitting in the back. Don’t buy a damn truck looking for a caddy. I love my SLT.
Trading a 24 Chevy 2500 for a 2500 ram gas today. Chevys electronics are trash parking sensors never stay working Apple car play is jittery it has a horrible ride steering is terrible and in the custom truck you get a plastic feeling steering wheel and no audio controls. A dated Nokia phone looking cluster. Allison in the gas downshifts so hard it will throw you through the windshield. I traded a Laramie 1500 for the Chevy and I’m going to a big horn ram all these issues under 1,000 miles not to mention the random flash of every warning the truck has to offer
Little more to it than that, but I've had 18 rams, so not a ram hater, but definitely lower quality than my 16 mega dually diesel. But I feel I owned enough and gave enough of my money to ram/dodge /chrsyler, that I can speak freely.
my ford f250 worse decision I ever made word fuel mileage engine failure at 50k miles all said Mr new ram 6.4 hemi 2500 tows better and better fuel economy than ford Godzilla
Oh Christ don’t get me started. I’ve already posted numerous times on his videos, so although I’m sure people are sick of it, I drink another beer and do it again. 190,000 miles on a 2016 and 3 engines. Yes my maintenance was good, I especially tightened up after the first engine. Plus I was told it’s because the engine doesn’t get enough oil at idle, so the first new engine I high idled it to 1200rpms even if I got out for just a couple minutes I’d idle it up. Still blew those lifters and cam out and then I thought, I better look for a new truck while this next new engine is still good. This last one was the shortest. Was seeing metal shavings in the oil at 30,000. Gave my wife the “oh fuck” look, she returned with a Vietnam stare and a week later driving to work… there she blows! I’m awaiting my 2023 F350 and have contemplated going out in the driveway, taking a long drag off a cigarette, throwing it on the front seat, closing the door and walking away from this heap of shit ram. Never again and I’ll do everything I can to advise people against the 6.4. Til the next 6.4 advisory message… good night.
I agree I have a 2016 ram bought new lil bit gutless mileage average bout 15 but I don't drive super fast and I as well maybe lookin to ford or new gasser chev not sure yet alot is gunna depend on the price
@@Polack-ml9fh LOL...my 2016 Outdoorsman 1500 now has 273,000 miles on it, and I treat it rather harshly, pulling a 9,700 lb travel trailer the last 6 years, making up roughly 120,000 of those miles, have hauled hundreds of tons of lumber in it up and down WV mountains, and have only had to replace the water pump at 147,000 miles.
@@Polack-ml9fh Yeah, if I ever jumped up to a 3/4 ton truck, I'd definitely go with a diesel engine. I know there have been issues with the 5.7 Hemi engine, but you have to treat it like a work truck, put it to hard use. That's what it was designed for, to be under alot of stress. Using the 5.7 Hemi as just an everyday commuting vehicle with a lot of idling time will case issues, especially keeping the MDS on. Work that engine hard and it will give you very few problems.
@@RS-ms1bz well my 6.4’s got worked hard and couldn’t handle it and they don’t have MDS. Never had problems with old ford 460’s, v10’s or Chevy 454’s or 6.0’s like I did with this hemi garbage.
Maybe you’re a little sore on the ram prices? I went from superdutys all my life to my first ram 2022 Laramie. fit/finish and ride are better than the superduty. The 6.4 has plenty of power
I have a 2022 RAM 2500 Laramie 6.4/3.73 4x4 as a daily driver with minimal towing and an empty bed most of the time. No regrets.
What kind of MPG you get?
Wouldn't it make more sense then to go with a 1500 if you're not towing or hauling anything?
@@andycarrell7320 I was die hard ford for years, after three lemons out of four brand new trucks it’s no longer the case.
Something about those 2014-2016 rams they got right. I’ve got 320k miles
love my 6.4 ram, 130k miles no issues. had one ford once, ONCE!
ONCE 😂😂😂😂
At 131k on my 6.4, and no major issues so far
A had a ford one. A 2020 f250. Traded it at 30k after a power steering pump explosion
I did not buy my 6.4 hemi to compete with Ford or GM trucks. The payload is adequate for my needs and the interior is comfortable. No regrets.
Same here , it does everything I ask and is a very comfortable 3/4 ton.
why are you filming a Ford while discussing a Ram?
I have a 2022 ram 2500 gasser.....I pull an Arctic Wolf 3550suite 5th wheel, and have had ZERO issues with having enough power......or any mechanical issues what so ever. This dude just doesn't like Ram trucks. To each their own....I have had all 3 major makers trucks, and currently the Ram is the best I have driven in quite a while. Btw, I average 15-17.5 mpg empty, and pulling my near 11,000 pound unit, get 10-12. Not too bad
21 bighorn 8ft bed 6.4 highway empty 20+ MPG
Runs like a Swiss watch !
You guys are smoking crack. I never get over 16 mpg on my 2500 6.4. Towing anything immediately takes it to single digits.
Not many people would admit that......I'm also a Ford guy.....driving a ram 6.4......go figure
I have a 23 ram 2500 with the 6.4l,I love it,I've owned ford's and chevys,this is hands down the best yet!😊
I drive a ford f350 dually for work with the 6.2 and my hemi 6.4 will eat its lunch!
Agreed, 💯
FACTS!
Okay either I got a bad 6.4 in my ram or nobody else cares about gas mileage cuz truly so awful it is a deal-breaker
Every ford I’ve had experienced catastrophic failure, my GMs and so far my 6.4 Ram have all been pretty much flawless, but I maintain them too.
I’ll keep the Ram for awhile for now
Have a 2020 Ram Power Wagon with 6.4L gas and 4:10 gearing… It pulls like a beast! And guess what, I do not have the diesel maintenance costs!
You sound like a fanboy of the Godzilla motor hope you like working on it
I do like it....I think after having 15 rams over the past 20 years, I can say the cummins would be my favorite from t
Ram.
Saying it’s better than a 6.0 or a 6.2 is subjective. 6.0’s regularly go for 250k plus. 6.4’s eat cams at half that mileage.
Nope
ive had a 21 6.4 with 3.73s, and ive had a 21 7.3 with 3.55s. the Ford ten speed is absolute trash. sold it and highly considering.
I appreciate the feedback and glad that the Ram is better for you and is performing better than the ford you traded, that's a win win.
I find that the 6.4 gas engine warms quiickly in freezing weather and generates plenty of heat in the cab. Heated seats and steering wheel are very nice. I have to reduce the fan speed once the engine is fully warmed.
How do you do that
Here’s my issue with Ford and Chevy - finding a gasser with the options I want is extremely difficult.
@That Paul Guy I appreciate you watching. If you get a new one, let us know what you snag.
Take it from a guy who has a 3/4 ton ram it is definitely the coil springs as the limiting factor
Correct but they sure do ride nice
I rather have it at 10kgvw. Then I can legally tow 16k without cdl
I have a 22 Bighorn and love it.
Whatever truck you bought is the greatest we have F350s where I work and I bought a Ram 2500. The Fords did not impress me
I test drove a 2023 f250 today and was disappointed.
How's the 7.3 now? Blown up 😆 🤣 😂
I have to agree with him on leg room. I just purchased a 2500 limited and I’m having a hard time getting comfortable in the driver seat.
It sounds like you got one of the trucks that sat outside in yards for like an entire year with no computer chip because of shortage.
@@yungnachty4474 my exact thoughts… sounds like it has 2020 problems with a 2022 stamp
You can keep your Ford, you'll be crying soon.
i don't see why anyone buys a truck without an eight foot bed hell just buy a car
I love my 2022 power wagon. It really dont care, rock crawler extraordinaire! Power 410 horse please bro! You need to check yourself! Lol
I agree the chevy trim for trim wins across the board in price. And the tow and payload ratings will be higher in the chevy.
Good info. I would be ticked off to find out my truck has been de-rated.
Yeah, I see a civil suit coming, but crazy they did that.
With all the problems with ford i cant fathom why anyone still buys them. Buying a ford is a toss of a coin.
What rear end did the hemi have? Because Im pretty sure the Ram with 4.10 gears and air is comparable.
Lmfao ford 7.3a blowing up at an alarming rate . Death wobble , garbage trans . I’ll keep my 6.4 ram forever . And I’ve owned them all .
I have a 17' Ram 1500, and you're exactly right. I looked a little while ago, and the tow rating and payload page by vin is not available.
@trinidyjohnson9295 what's the difference in mileage between the 2 when towing? Thanks
Probably because the GM and Chevy seats are short, narrow and very stiff. Im looking to switch brands, just not sure who Im going with.
I own a nice big Ram HD and I’ll always call it a dodge Ram.
19k on my 2022 ram. The 6.4 kicks ass and it's fun to drive!
Why would you apologize? It is what it is.......
Ram is most reliable truck. Best motor. Best trannys. Best interior
You’re kidding right?
I agree.
Talk to some good mechanics, ram has the worst transmission of the big three , as far as reliability
@@andycarrell7320 and the best engine. Transmission issues are blown out of proportion online. Tuning and adding hp had been a big problem for transmissions on all makes. They are only made for so much horsepower.
@@wesleydean4228 the 6.4 is a hot garbage. I can’t imagine a legitimate mechanic ever saying that’s a reliable engine.
Id go with the 2024 Chevy. Even the hd work truck looks better than the interior on that ford. That plastic trim on the doors and the seats looks cheap.
If you're so "anti Ram", why'd you buy it?
You are showing a Ford talking about leg room
So what engine is in this Ford you are showing
Just talking perspective think I even mentioned that...lol....but yes....you are correct...7.3 zilla
Absolutely 💯
This is 💯 correct
It'd be nice if ram offered a 1500 6.4L.
The ford 7.3 has a design flaw that makes the lifters go bad
Small percentage of them in mostly over idled fleet vehicles supposedly.
If a motor is electric, why is it called motor oil? Department of motor vehicles, motorcycle, etc. Too funny with some people.
The fan runs because of oil and trans coller
dont get a ram it has a hump in the back seat floor and to many hard materials inside lol
Camshaft and lifters anyone?
Fag
All manufacturers have valve , lifter & cam issues
@@josephpuchel6497 there’s not another engine that eats them like the 6.4 hemi.
problem with driving a ford is carrying that dam purse around
Gm is owned by china and most vehicles they make are made in china except trucks because they know we check.
Dodge is dead it’s now Ram 😂
What a crybaby lol
I agree I have a 2016 ram bought new lil bit gutless mileage average bout 15 but I don't drive super fast and I as well maybe lookin to ford or new gasser chev not sure yet alot is gunna depend on the price
Oh gutless? That’s nothing, the fun has just begun. Wait til you start putting engines in it.
@@RS-ms1bz good for you. I got a 2016 4500 with 190,000 miles and 3 engines. 6.4 is hot garbage in a work truck.
After I saw the Trump flag on the back wall, it then made sense as to why you complain so much.
If he was a Biden fan he’d have purple hair and have a rainbow flag on the wall. How can any decent American be a Democrat? It’s an oxymoron.
Maybe you’re a little sore on the ram prices? I went from superdutys all my life to my first ram 2022 Laramie. fit/finish and ride are better than the superduty. The 6.4 has plenty of power
