As a friend of mine once put it… Bumblebee is basically a Horse Girl movie, except the horse is a car, and the car is a robot, and the robot is an alien, and the alien is an amnesiac soldier fleeing an intergalactic war.
Bumblebee is definitely a major step in the right direction after The Last Knight. The robots actually have characters as well as clear distinguished designs and there is a clear respect for the source material
Facts man. Huge reason why I loved it was because it actually had some good emotional weight, decent story, and pretty well done action with some great vfx. Was really disappointed that we went back to the dumb fun route with RoTB. I’m hoping transformers one is at least successful enough to spawn a trilogy cause that’s the kind of content we need more of for the franchise.
EXACTLY!!! Oh my god i mean the bayverse will always be part of our childhood but when it comes to the cartoons this live action movie right here is well deserved
This is my favorite Transformers live action by far. It has a lot of heart, great humor that wasn't cheesy and stupid, well done '80s retro as well as hearkening back to the original cartoon, cool action that wasn't over the top, and an excellent story. And it's about Bumblebee. Who doesn't love Bumblebee? It's pretty much everything that Michael Bay movies aren't. His movies seem like they were made by a 10-year-old.
@@shanajeangedeon9060 yes but the comment was talking about the transformers franchise not about them watching them so I was confused why he brought that up
@S0SV01D Because they assume the comment was referring to it being the girls entry, when it isn't, and promptly told them that the girls have already seen the other movies. Which is an entirely valid(and likely correct) thought that isn't confusing or difficult to understand at all.
This was actually a fun Transformers movie. There were sweet moments and great action. Even the opening of this movie felt like watching a live-action version of the 80’s Transformers cartoon.
This was the transformers esthetic we wanted from the start but Bay had to go and overcomplicate them. And Kristen has great taste, EVERYONE loved Soundwave and his cassettes!!
I love this film so much. It's one of my comfort movies and I just adore the relationship between Bee and Charlie. I wish Bee didn't lose his voice so he could talk to her. It makes me wish we'd see more of her in other Transformers stuff. She'd get along great with the other Autobots. Hell, she would make a fun character in the comics.
Bumblebee playing You got the Touch on the radio, even very briefly, was delightful when i saw this in the theater as it made me think of the animated movie from the 80s.
This one is easily one of the best in the franchise. I like how it was basically a girl and her car story similar to how the first one was a boy and his car story. Also, I can't help but feel bad for Memo. Charlie kept friend-zoning the hell out of him lol.
Fun fact about Soundwave (the one withthe cat bot in his chest) ,his voice is made to sound exactly like it does in the 80s cartoon voiced by Frank Welker. The line "Ravage, eject" is one of his more well known catchphrases. His earth form in a casette player, which is just so on brand xD
Bumblebee is top tier refresh to the franchise . They restarted the movies and they doing it right this time . Hope you enjoy the next movie as well. It's going to be fun.
NGL, that scene when that garage owner gave her the car made me teary a bit. Too sweet. Haylee is a tremendous actor. This movie is what Disney wishes it can make today. Btw nobody noticed that agent Simmons of sector 7 (his younger movie self) from the very first transformers movie was in this movie? 🙂
The movie was made with love, care and attention to detail with the utmost respect for the cartoon (Generation 1) us millennial grew up on. The director within a minute of the film beginning, he nailed it. Obviously, there is a lot of influence from ET as well. Even all the human characters did well. Well written. I personally have this just edging out Bay's first movie, but I wouldn't fault anyone for (just about) siding with the first film. If you haven't, after Beast Wars, I presume, watch the 1984 movie.
This is the movie that made all of us fans want more transformers live action films like this one because it pays respect to the franchise's history while also trying new things the human characters aren't front and center and the transformers themselves reduced to secondary characters and the designs of the transformers themselves harken back to the g1 styled designs this kristen stephensonpino and steph sabraw is what you should've been watching instead of those first five films made by Michael Bay because he had no respect for the franchise but the new director for bumblebee and rise of the beasts is a transformers fan who respects the franchise
This is the only Transformers movie (that I've seen) that matches the feel of the animation. I can actually follow the action sequences and can tell the difference between the Autobots and Decepticons. Thera even a story, plot and character development! So unusual for a Transformers movie
I love the sequences showing the war on Cybertron and the bond between Charlie and Bumblebee. I especially love the casting of Angela Bassett as Shatter (the red Decepticon) and John Cena was hilarious as the doofus Agent Burns. (I know I'm likely in for an onslaught of "John Cena? Where? I can't see him." comments, but I digress.) Side note: Many people speculated that the Decepticon that ripped out Bumblebee's voice box was Starscream, but it's actually a Decepticon named Blitzwing, who was originally a triple-changer. (A Transformer with two vehicle modes, plus their robot mode).
I’ll admit, I felt like if they were gonna use Blitzwing they should have made him the lead antagonist rather than off him five minutes after his introduction. He’s a big name in the IP as the quintessential multi-role soldier, and would’ve been able to play off Shatter in an interesting manner.
EASILY the best transformers movie. Has the most heart, its the most focused and complete. But thats expected when the movie is directed by an animator. Animators know how to tell stories, and make audience's love characters. The classic G1 transformers designs, the transformations in the action, voices, I wish Travis Knight would return to do another, he gets it.
@@TheSsjJoker I really liked it but it should’ve and could’ve did more. Megatrons progression could’ve felt more natural too. I hope they go much harder into the movie being animated if they do another. The possibilities are endless with animation and I feel like they didn’t use that to their advantage as much as they should have. Something like mutant mayhem did it much better in my opinion. It was still great though, definitely a top 3 transformers movie for me!

Most of the Transformers here feature the designs from G1, the Generation 1 animated series from the 80's. Michael Bay and subsequent directors for live-action versions changed them heavily. Bumblebee's design was kept the same with the live-action version, since the first Bayverse trilogy was popular and more fresh in most people's minds. I personally prefer the original designs, especially for the Decepticons.
The female Decepticon, Shatter, is a 1970 Plymouth Satellite in car form. I grew up with my grandmother having that exact make and model of car, only without the extras like all the headlights and the blower. Also hers was canary yellow like Bumblebee.
The truck and trailer at the end was an homage to the cartoon, because that is what Optimus Prime looked like. Also in the cartoon Bumble Bee was a VW bug.
