King Charles comes to the role with an unenviably packed in-tray - but it’s not matters of state that should concern him most, but matters closer to home. That’s the view of the Daily Mail’s columnist Sarah Vine who believes that resolving the conflict with his younger son should be top of His Majesty’s to do list. ‘He’s got to sort out the Harry and Meghan situation, because I don’ think the truce was a truce, I think it was for the cameras,’ she tells our royal talk show Palace Confidential. ‘I’m not hearing anything good about Harry… he’s acting up and it’s not really a very good situation,’ ‘That needs to be resolved because he’ll go back to America and he’ll publish this book and goodness knows what will be in it. The Queen used to be the buffer - so that’s a real problem.’

HM made the choice to step down by not working Royal, but Harry will always be the son , brother, brother in law, cousin, cousin law so on of Royal Family. So HM made the agreement as the couple is not to work for them by join the communities in the country of U.K... M wanted to live in a private life to do things for herself.. Look at Princess Anne's children whose don't have titles or HRH ever since born, and doing very well living and low key lives private lives. Just sense entitlement H and M have on themselves.

This uniform thing is getting annoying. It wasn't about humiliating Harry. It was about following long established rules. Veterans who are no longer in the services are not allowed to wear their uniforms. They can wear their medals. It's not about an attack on Harry. The lack of the initials on the epaulet of his uniform was also by the book. They weren't on his uniform the day he got married. Were they trying to humiliate him on his wedding day. Again, not an attack on Harry. This is what should have been highlighted in this discussion.

I live in the US. Everyone I talk to thinks King Charles should (1) not make a decision about H&M’s children until after Harry publishes his book; (2) if Harry’s book is negative, then Charles should not give titles to the children, and let H&M carry on in California on their own. No way back if the book is negative.
If Harry agrees to never publish his book, Meghan agrees to withdraw her threat to publish her own “say anything” book, both given in legally enforceable documents, and they both apologize for lying about the Royal Family, then Charles has something to think about.

I think he should wait even longer. Remember Harry had said there would be "another book" but not until after the Queen had passed. Also, Megan has been making hints of her own book....So this one book coming out that's already written isn't the end....and Charles should do NOTHING at all...because we have all seen that once the Harkles get what they want they lie, embellish and trash the family for all they can get. It's their only skill and all they have to sell. Being there for the funeral has only given them what they lacked "new material" because even their supporters had been saying that people were tired of their rehashing the complaints of the past it had worn thin and that they needed new material. Until the Queen died they were not given an opportunity to get anything...Now the family were forced to be around them and we've seen how they have twisted and whined about everything even things that never existed.

Harry has gone from being the “spare” and playing second fiddle to William, to now being second fiddle to his wife, despite telling the world how happy he is and enjoying his “independent” life, he looks absolutely miserable. My issue is that Harry could have taken a sabbatical from his family without marrying the manipulator. He thought he was trapped living as a member of the family. I think he’s far more trapped now. And a lot less happy. He used to be fun!
I am American and I am not sure I understand first, where anyone thinks the RF humiliated H&M. Secondly, not sure why H&M deserve anything or titles they made it very clear they do not want to be working royals. Thirdly, how could any of this hurt King Charles III. I would think if Harry were to come back to Britain it would take a long time before he was adored and trusted by his country again.

There is a longstanding vocal movement in Britain to abolish the Monarchy and have voters chose a President as figurehead leader.
Problem with popular voting - figurehead president will belong to a political party. Political heads of state come from party in power.
Monarchs stay in the middle. They do vote but they don't dictate to the majority party.
Queen Elizabeth II was staunchly against Apartheid and said so privately to her Tory Prime Ministers (who were for it- Margaret Thatcher, e.g.). Remember, the last absolute kings had grisly ends. England's King Charles II was beheaded. As was France's. Russia's was shot.
Bottomline, H&M's criticisms will add fodder to British Monarchy Abolition movement.
Fortunately (ironically), the queen will not have to live through the “Harry's Memoirs” episode.

I was so amazed at how close Princess Anne stayed to her brother during the funeral. She kept looking at him to see how he was doing and had genuine concern for his well-being. I did not realized how hard working she has been. I wonder if her role will increase?
Most don't realize, however their are documentaries showing the battle she has faced while attending more events than others and focus on charities that help so many. Mothers drive and fathers driving force and dry wit.

I agree. They met 52 years ago. *52 years* They have been in love that whole time. Unfortunately Andrew and Diana were mixed up in it all, and it wasn't the perfect love story. But Camilla is clearly his soul mate. And as the 14 year old Diana fangirls eventually grow up and mature, they will see that love is not a Disney fairytale and sometime it can be gritty and messy.
She's a gentle and tough lady at the same time. No I'm not crazy about the fact that she was his mistress, but she IS what he needs and he's happy. She puts a smile on his face. I just wish Harry had the same smile.

The Queen and Charles both made it clear that Harry was still very much loved part of the private family but he chose NOT to be part of the "Firm." That's the part I think Harry doesn't like he wants all the privileges and perks but none of the work or responsibility and it simply doesn't work that way. He's no longer a Working Senior Royal therefore that puts him down the line at State occasions behind others. He's with the minor royals now and that was his choice but he doesn't see it that way....For some reason he seems to think that he should retain all rights and privileges he gave up whenever he's in the UK.....It's unreal just how out of touch and delusional he is along with his wife.

There would be no one better to assist King Charles in family affairs than the Princess Royal. He shares a close bond with her, she's his confidante, and she is so much like her mother. The family respects her. As stated in inews, ‘She’s famously got a much more direct character. She doesn’t suffer fools. She goes for the no-nonsense approach to the work of monarchy.' Seems to me that Princess Anne is the right person to "lay down the law" to Harry and Meghan. She wouldn't acquiesce to their demands and wouldn't allow them to derail King Charles' reign.

Prince Harry proposed an outside mediator, a suggestion that can only have come from his wife. Very American and it invariably ends with everyone holding hands and intoning "Kumbaya". I think King Charles needs to address the world with a clear message that, sadly, his son has taken a route that will only end badly for him. That the Royal family honors family and its privacy, yet Harry’s wife has come up with a plan that doesn’t suit our ethics, and trying to blackmail the Monarchy for her gains will never be tolerated, for the dignity of our Nation and their Monarchy Harry, his spouse, and the children they keep away from their country are no longer considered royals and have no previlidges what so ever. Any defamation or wrongdoing towards us will be faced with suitable legal actions and exposed immediately.
An olive branch would have been an apology from Megan and Harry, stopping his book and then the Royals could have reached out more substantially. The Royals reached out with quite a few olive branches, but M + H immediately cried victim about anything they could. He should start acting like a man and a father and take responsibility for his choices and their consequences. He and M should stop leaking and washing all their dirty laundry in public. Only then can healing and trust commence.
King Charles needs time to greive. Let the king and William do their job. Stop 2nd guessing what the King and William will do.
I think the couple should be sent into exile without titles. I say this as Meghan Markle will continue to lie throughout her life, as a compulsive liar cannot change. Harry and Meghan were given a year to reflect on their decision to leave royal life after which they would either be welcomed back to their former positions or wished the best of luck in their new life. Harry was fully aware of everything he would lose, including the right to wear a uniform. If he felt humiliated during his latest visit, it was most probably because he couldn't be bothered to visit his grandmother before she died.
How do you know whether Harry was blocked by Anne and Charles having any contact at all with his Grandmother.
Not to mention a very large 4-5 million pound budget for the year to live and reflect on. They should have stopped the private jets, and expensive clothes, and a home they are mortgaged out the wazoo on. Instead, conserved their money, and utilized it towards their charitable goals. They could have bought a ranch somewhere, in an area that is not OTT expensive and lesser known. Then they would have enormous privacy on 50-100 acres somewhere less known and cheaper real estate, and 1/3 of the size of the home they have, and reduce overheads. Which then would have money to build their charities on. I keep asking myself: Did they not draw up a business plan?
