as a lover of mono black decks, its amazing to get Krikk in arena now!
Krikk the prick has been around for years and is one of my favorite and one of my original commander decks when I discovered the format
he's my main edh list and I lovingly call him, in french ''le p'tit Krrik'' which is a play on a swear word for just how he is for everyone around the table. Gotta love my mono black list with him :P it's a love letter to magic, really, even got the actual Urborg land in there. which is a glorified swamp with niche payoff that might never come up...but hey better than a swamp! :O Maybe?
I just put together a K'rrik aristocrats commander deck, as a more budget friendly alternative to the typical storm combo deck and it has something like 30+ infinite combos. All the cards arrive in the mail today I'm so excited to lose all my friends.

You can see the Phyrexian symbol hovering for a second over your life total, indicating you click there. It's the same way that Magic online does it. You click your avatar/life total. It's not an ability in K'rrik so you don't click him.

Greetings Dark Lord, okay so I realized what was causing you to not be able to pay the life and it's obviously due to MTG arena auto selecting the "optimal" option and all that, and it's actually so simole.
When you pressed full control you can notice that the life counter is slightly glowing with greenish colors this meaning (I assume) that you can actually click to pay phyrexian manas that way because otherwise the auto select will try to make you lose the less life possible even so that doesn't let you play more spells.
Hope it helps for anyone if someone finds trouble with this in the future, anyways love the content as always it's cool to see you again over here, missed you!

@@fibsh7453 You don't click the life total to add the mana. K'rrik allows you to pay life instead of paying mana so you don't even need mana to pay.
@shinnin23 K'rrik does not change the cost to phyrexian mana, it just allows you to pay life instead whenever you would pay {B}. A subtle difference but a difference nonetheless.

@@fibsh7453 I got what you meant, just want to make sure people understand the distinction between abilities like that of Channel, which allows you to pay life to add mana and then use that mana to pay for something and that of K'rrik which allows you to pay life instead of paying mana for something. For example, the former will not trigger Verrak, but the latter will.
As to last play, you cant use delighted halfling mana to cast peer.

Clicking your character to pay phyrexian mana without any directions from the client is a very bad UI decision. The client should indicate somehow where you click to pay the life. Very stupid. This makes me so angry. Arena is supposed to be easier for newer players but they don't give hints on the simplest actions and program some really ridiculous defaults.
I've lost so many games because I forgot I can't use mana dorks as blockers automatically by spending my treasures because the game is programmed to always auto pay with mana from creatures over treasures.
Wouldn't exactly call K'rrik new when it was first released almost 5 years ago.
At 20:50 you had enough life to pay the black mana but not enough generic mana to pay the generic cost. So would need 4 generic but you only had 2.

Yeah the design is stupid, they should have made k'rrik give you the option like how he does for himself, rather than clicking life total.
The difference is K'rrik has phyrexian mana symbols in its cost, so you choose to either pay 2 life or pay {B} when choosing modes in step 2 of casting a spell, that's why you get that window before paying any costs and then by the time you pay the costs there are no choices involved, you have to pay the life.
Kr'rrik's ability does not change spells to costing phyrexian mana, it just gives you the choice to pay 2 life instead whenever you would need to pay {B}. This happens during the payment part in step 8 of casting a spell, after you have had the chance to activate mana abilities. In Arena it seems step 7 and step 8 are kind of mushed into one step though and you can pay costs and activate mana abilities at the same time, which could cause problems with convoke but seems fine here.

@@Tharkon Appreciate the explanation, but the UI is still a mess. They could have made the casting of all spells with K'rrik in play act the same as casting K'rrik. Or something. No explanation of how it works in the UI. Just "figure it out". Seems like a bad decision. Maybe they could have had some helper text on the card or something.

the only way to fix phyrexian mana is to pay 2 life + geting 1 oil counter. thats way, either die by 20 damages, or die by 10 oil counter

Oil counters are mundane. They do absolutely nothing to the player.
