    My husband was looking at various peoples channels and I noticed that you had mentioned problems with warping wood. You can fix this problem by (soaking in water or spray water or steam it)for several minutes and then let it rest absorbing the water. Then you wrap it in plain paper, then place it on a level surface with weights on top until dry. I have done this for wooden antiques that you would think had to be thrown away. It works well and can save your things. This can also help you bend the wood for your projects. I would experiment and see what you can create. As an example those beautiful a chairs that Eames designed with bent plywood.

    Good project Roger and excellent explanation of the layers. I love using Dollar Tree wood for testing and simple stuff like ornaments. One thing I've heard (and do) is with 220 grit sand paper touch up (with the grain) the wood to get a smooth surface. I think I may have heard that sanding tip from you or maybe Rich from The Louisiana Hobby Guy in another video I watched.
    Second thing. Have you tried spray adhesive? I have a can and may try it. Lay the upper layer face down on some parchment paper and give it a good two pass shot. After waiting a few seconds you can place it on the lower layer, put a clean parchment sheet on top and add a weight that covers the entire project.
    Thanks for the files. I'm going to head over to your site and download them.

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  Рік тому +1

      3M 77 spray adhesive also works well, but can be a little messy, depending on the parts. On large layered projects, I use the 77. On smaller things, I prefer CA glue.

    Hi Roger I'm a bit confused, so sorry for the newbie question, from the layers tab you had two, the one for the ornamental design and one for the word welcome, both at line mood
    At 10:16 you said it does the "line engrave" first and the "cut" second. Shouldn't the cut have its own tab? Where am I making the mistake many thanks ❤

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  Рік тому

      The engrave is the first layer. The cut is the second layer. Always do an engrave before a cut.

    • @rogersshop

      Depends on material thickness, and option of graphic. The most complex with engrave and cut on 1/4" plywood is 58 minutes. Base layer, about 10 minutes.

    I’ve been looking for a way to ask a question. Can I cut 3mm mdf with my d1 10w laser. I found setting of 350 mm/m @ 100% power 1 pass. Does this make sense to you

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  5 місяців тому

      Yes, and maybe.....MDF can be finicky, depending on the manufacturer and sometimes differ in density from maker to maker. Your starting point sounds good, but run some tests to see if scorching is an issue. If so, try a faster speed, but two passes.

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  5 місяців тому

      Should not do that. Check that belt tension is not too tight. also, try to identify where it is coming from. Does it do it on both X and Y axis? Or just one? Could also be a loose sprocket (pulley) on a stepper motor.

    • @_DarkestNATION
      @_DarkestNATION 5 місяців тому

      just the x axis where the laser is, I'm pretty sure it's coming from the timing belt pully inside the housing that I can't see. I've tried both loosening and tightening if I loosen it anymore the teeth don't catch. the higher the speed the louder it is of course.@@rogersshop

    Is any of this done in inches for those of us in the USA.

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  6 місяців тому

      Dimensions are in inches. Speed is in mm/min, which is the most common use for diode lasers. mm/sec is used mostly with IR and CO2. The metric system is not difficult, as it is base/10 and is easy to learn if new at it.
