A friend of mine went to Antarctica about a decade ago, and it cost him $ 40,000. I didn't remember why or exactly what his adventure entailed. But getting to go for free brings new meaning to the term "priceless". Good for you! And great story telling. I enjoyed listening to you tell it.
Thank you so much Tony! I figured all the videos and pics would be important to add since I filmed the main portion in my car hahaha I'm so glad you enjoyed 😊

What a great story. So fortunate that you experienced that. I always find the unforeseen circumstances that happen on trips tend to be the ones that stick with you the most.
Thank you so much! Yes absolutely, so grateful I was able to go on this expedition, especially right before the pandemic seriously hit. And I couldn't agree more- funny how that works out. 😊 As always, thanks so much for watching
Just finished watching this with my morning cup of coffee and I absolutely LOVED this video Taylor! Speaking to my traveler soul 😍😍😍 you’re such a fabulous story teller! And you know I gotta ask - how freaking long did it take for you to edit this one?! 😱😍🎉
This was such a great video Taylor! Would love to know more about "Things to know before travelling to Antarctica" and also "Lessons you learnt from this trip". Would make for really interesting content I think. Looking forward to it ❤️

@@TaylorBell You’re welcome! I had no idea people could go hiking in Antarctica, now it makes me want to go there - I’ve done similar things in less extreme places.
The cold water hitting the face and eyeballs that can give a major rush where you feel your stomach just dropped? That's due to a whole host of nerve activities behind the eyeballs triggering a dive reflex. Interestingly, it jacks up your blood pressure within seconds from a normal of 120/80 to like 160/90 (which is nuts, mind you). I agree 100% - its a weird sensation. Few years back, I published on this concept to see if we can keep the BP elevated for someone with an open system (like a gunshot wound) in remote warfare or pre-hospital settings. Amazingly it works pretty well. Anyways, has nothing to do with my woodworking channel but I thought it was interesting that you remembered that odd feeling from Antarctica.
Really liked this new style of vid for you! Originally found your channel via Jack & Graham's podcast and it's been cool seeing you experiment/grow. Hopefully there's a way to further merge the finance and adventure/travel niches in the future!
A group of friends and I got stranded somewhere not nearly as cool as Antarctica once but we refer to those days as our “bonus trip” and those were our favorite days of the trip as well! 💓💓 what an adventure to be able to share!
You have lived so much life in just 23 years 🫠 I am not lying but seriously I have been dreaming about these for many years and the intensity being intensified from the past two years. How badly I want to visit Alaska, Utah, Patagonia, Antarctica, Iceland, Svalbard, Kergulen Islands, Falklands and South Sandwich Islands, Canada's NewFoundland and Labrador and so many US National Parks. I really wish I had a life like you
Aw thanks so much!! And yess absolutely, it's so important in a place like that to leave no trace. I think it's important anywhere but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And awesome I'm so glad!! More stories like this to come then!! 😊

I really need to visit Antarctica some day, such a cool story! I thought it was the coolest thing when I talked to someone in Antarctica through my ham radio.
9:25 OMG I absolutely love this direction board. I've seen this before from a higher view in which there was New York, Seul, Cerrillos ( I saw it on Wendover Production channel )

Hey great story! Weirdly love hearing the struggles and the part where you said you’d regret it if you didn’t jump in the water, that’s what life’s about, making great memories and what an experience!
Thank you so much!! And YES exactly, forgot who said the quote but "Do something every day that scares you" is one of my favorites 😊 Thanks so much for watching

Great video! It looked and sounded really scenic! Its nice that you got to see those penguins in the wild up close instead of in an aquarium. It's awful how because of the pilot having to fly in not ideal weather you couldn't come home right away though.
Thanks so much Audrey!! hahaha yep they were. Thank goodness for the satellite phone (and a couple students who even picked up cell service at one of the nearby research bases!!)
I'm literally crying at this moment as the video is progressing because you are living the life I have always envisaged. My eyes are moist at this moment because I've never met a single person in my country who takes interest in such topics let alone have done them. I feel trapped in my country. 😔

Ahaha thank youuu! Yeah it really is an other-wordly place, didn't feel real at times. Especially since I haven't explored too many Tundra locations before 😊
Wow Taylor, what an amazing adventure!! I'm super jealous that you got to go to Antarctica! I've always been fascinated by "forbidden" or hard to reach places - that's how I ended up visiting Moscow twice, once when it was still the Soviet Union, and why I have places like Cuba and North Korea on my "want to visit" list. Cant wait for the pandemic to end so I can start traveling again. I also really love hiking! I climbed in the Pyrenees. Just to find out I have fear of hights. But I managed for a week tho abseiling and everything. I also did canyoning. That was my favorite part of the trip there
Whaaaat that's awesome! The pyrenees are gorgeous. And oh well at least now you know about your fear 😂 Hahah I'm also excited to be able to travel again, feels like it's been sooo long. Thanks so much for watching!!

I made the tourist version of that trip on an expedition ship from Hurtigruten (pictures on my blog) but your experience sounds maybe even more interesting. At first I thought this was a video of from one of the climbing channels I follow haha. Great video/story! Would love to see more climbing/hiking/outdoor vids.
really enjoyed this. I think it might not have been so cold because as you said the warm ocean currents and it would have been summer in Antarctica at the time.
Thank you soo much, so glad you liked it 😊 And oh no the water was as cold as it gets (there were some ice bergs not too far out) but I just had a weird warm sensation when I got out. Hard to describe, but it was a cool experience 😊
Took me a minute to sit down and watch this one only because I wanted my boyfriend to watch it with me since he is a climber himself. He basically thinks you are a bad ass now haha 😝He would love to go to Antarctica, his last climb was Mt. Kilimanjaro and then he was supposed to do Mt. Elbrus last summer, but that was put on pause because of COVID. Loved the casual vibes while telling this story too. 🥰 Love to hear more travel experiences!
AW oh my gosh hahah I'm so flattered!! That's awesome that he's a climber, have you guys climbed together? 😊 Such a fun little date idea hehe. And woah those are impressive peaks!! He should come here to climb Mt. Whitney sometime when it's a bit warmer. By brother has climbed the east face of it several times and said it was incredible. But it can also be hiked up 😊 Aw well thank you guys so much for taking the time to watch this!! I'm so glad you liked it 💜
Haha, I am definitely not as talented as him in that realm. I have tried it once with him in the Red Rocks here. But, that was a slight fail on my end.. but we love hiking together 😝 Btw, totally recommend the Red Rocks if you are ever in the Vegas area for climbing / hiking. It is so gorgeous! I just asked him, he said he did the East face route of Whitney also a couple years back. He said he loved it!

Thanks for sharing this story! It sounds like an incredible experience. Someday I hope to get to visit Antarctica. P.S. Now I want In-n-out. Sadly we don’t have it here in New Mexico.
Of courseee, thank YOU for watching! You definitely should one day even though it's expensive- it was the experience of a lifetime. And HAHA I feel you, there's nothing like a good ole In n Out. You'll have to visit CA soon just to get one 😂 Love NM too though!! :)
Adversity always build lifetime long relationships with folks. Plus you got to test your metal about how strong you truly are and know what to do in a situation like that. The knowledge that you gained from your trip to Antarctica you will never forget, the lessons learned you will always treasure. Not to mention when you finally have children the stories you can tell. Or as a older woman the stories you can tell your grandchildren those are the best yet
Hello! I am so glad this got recommended to me (probably because I was researching Antarctica for my trip next year, and also having caught up with all your lateest post videos), but wow!! THAT Is an adventureture of a lifetime! I would definitely love to hear about the Patagonia expedition story, and in a similar format, where you are just talking from your car or your desk, and you have Brolls that you have filmed. This is honestly one of the best videos I've seen from you Taylor
What an incredible experience! Wow, I can only imagine. I’m a baby when it comes to camping lol. That polar plunge sounds like something else. You should’ve heard how many times I said wow throughout this video haha. Glad you were able to make it through the extra days okay! Awesome story Taylor!

Wow! The story sounded so cool and adventurous! I don't know how I would feel if I had to carry my poop during the whole trip. But it is what it is :p. I would like to hear more of your travel stories. As you said in another video, you have traveled a lot.
Thanks so much Evangelia!! Hahah yup carrying around poo is definitely something to get used to 😂 And I'm so glad you enjoyed this travel video!!! More to come for sure, I loved making this one 💜 Thanks so much for watching
Wow that was crazy and exciting at the same time! By the way love the hair! 😍 Definitely a cool experience! Looking forward to your next entertaining video!! 😎
Maybe they just kept you on Antarctica a little longer to build the leadership skills and to make it a lot more memorable 😁. White river rafting guide on one trip toppled over our raft just to make the trip the one to be remembered, maybe she was planning your trip as well 😂. I think there is no use to answer any haters, they just get fuel to the fire. They are best when ignored.
...just think of what that would bring to a resume. Everyone else is eat pray loving themselves across Europe for a semester, while you're Bear Grillsing it in Antartica.
As interesting as the subject matter is a skillful storyteller makes ALL the difference. Have you considered 'putting pen to paper' as an author Taylor? A lot of your disciplines lend themselves to writing. Personally I'm a Kindle devotee - luv me a good book! Many years ago my employer at the time enrolled me to participate in the Outward Bound program - "builds character if you don't die" lol! Would really welcome more inclusion of your lived experiences. Much enjoyed!
Hey Taylor ! Really interesting and inspiring story and I'm glad it all worked out in the end. I understand what you mean about those three last days, people gather up and start supporting each other in a whole new way I guess. Also, great leadership helps the rest of the group to stay focused and calm, great job. Next time, try to stay in the cold areas but maybe not as extreme as Antarctica ? In Northern Europe we got no penguins but you get the Northern lights and you also get to sleep in an Igloo and if you need to go to the bathroom then 20 feet away from the igloo there is a house... just saying , you can enjoy the cold in a "civilized" manner as well 😂 Now, I'm dying to know what you thought about Austria ?
Dang!!! I never ever knew that you even went to Antarctica ( I knew of Iceland but Antarctica! Seriously!?) Both of these places are super favourite of mine. Gotta say you won the competition 😭

really enjoyed this.
@@TaylorBell Yep :). I can just imagine this being like a real life discovery channel experience
@@LindsayNicolepm HAHA I'm sure you were great. And YES I've been meaning to get out to Red Rocks at some point in the near future, I've heard it's a really great spot. How cool that's he also climbed Whitney!! I love to hear it. Well, would love to climb with both of you if you're ever in the LA area or I'm in the LV area 😊
@@TaylorBell Ya, Red Rocks is literally my backyard, I live 15 minutes away! Oh, totally! We would love to climb with you, he can show you all the good routes here! And, if anything I can always be the videographer if I can't keep up haha
Dang Taylor you sure Have blessed life One day I hope to go on as many adventures as you keep up the good work I like the vlog’s
I do, I'm so grateful I got to do something like this!! And thanks so much, I'm so glad you liked it. Keep me updated on your adventures when we can start doing things as usual again! 😂
@@TaylorBell Oh I will
Sounds like it was a really fun adventure. To bad you couldn't climb some of those wild mountains down there.
It seriously was! 😊 And haah yeahh that would've been cool-- maybe if I go back again one day 😎
this girl can run an empire
Aw shucks 😊
@@TaylorBell it’s true
Thanks for sharing this story! It sounds like an incredible experience. Someday I hope to get to visit Antarctica.
P.S. Now I want In-n-out. Sadly we don’t have it here in New Mexico.
Of courseee, thank YOU for watching! You definitely should one day even though it's expensive- it was the experience of a lifetime. And HAHA I feel you, there's nothing like a good ole In n Out. You'll have to visit CA soon just to get one 😂 Love NM too though!! :)
this was cool, wouldn't mind more details on such travel experiences
Thank you!! And awesome, more to come for sure 😊
Love this type of content, that seems like a really cool experience!
Thank you so much!! Really glad you liked it. It definitely was a cool experience, other worldly even! Ahah
Taylor Bell I bet! I’m definitely planning on going to Antarctica since it’s one of the continents I haven’t been to yet.
This is honestly one of the best videos I've seen from you Taylor
more of these please!
Ahh glad you liked it!! More to come ☺️
Wow What a great life experience Taylor, well done
I actually breathed a sigh of relief when you said the plane finally arrived XD
Ahaha so did we!! 😂
@@TaylorBell it's a shame the pandemic has made travel difficult, hoping to travel around Europe this summer
This is so awesome, sounds like an invaluable experience 👍🏾🤗
Thank you so much!! It sure was 😊
What an incredible experience! Wow, I can only imagine. I’m a baby when it comes to camping lol. That polar plunge sounds like something else. You should’ve heard how many times I said wow throughout this video haha. Glad you were able to make it through the extra days okay! Awesome story Taylor!
Thank you so much Macy!! Haha yeah the polar plunge definitely was something else. Outside my comfort zone but I'm glad I did it 😊 And aw gosh haahah I'm glad it provided some "wows" 😂 Twas the trip of a lifetime. Thanks so much for watching Macy 💜
The alps are incredible
They sure are! ☺️
Interesting story. Glad you got through okay.
Thank you so much! Me too ahah
@@TaylorBell : you're welcome
You should take Jack to Antarctica!! He’s a pretty cool guy and maybe you could get ~ice~ coffee again haha!
HA! Great point there Roberto. And what a convenient place to find an abundance of ice for said coffee. Thanks for the excellent suggestion ! 😋
You could have experienced Tierra Del Fugo by the time you were waiting for the pilots to get ready
Let watch again next time .
Wow that was crazy and exciting at the same time! By the way love the hair! 😍 Definitely a cool experience! Looking forward to your next entertaining video!! 😎
Thank you Anthony!! Haha definitely crazy and exciting 😊 And aw thanks so much!! More videos like this to come in the future for sure 😊
@@TaylorBell awesome! I'm looking forward to it! Merry Christmas! 😁😎
@@anthonyalvarez124 Merry Christmas to you!! 😊
great story, great video!
Thanks so much, Mark! 😊
Yo the thumbnail looks crazy good
Thank you SO much!! Actually spent a lot of time on it despite it being just a selfie I took while I was there ahaha
@@TaylorBell yea idk how to describe it the picture looks great and it’s just something about the Antarctica that looks so good! Keep it up!
HAHA it was definitely a conversation starter during some interviews 😂 LOL will always Bear Grills it when I can, to an extent anyway hahaha
Casting call for Lara Croft. Seriously impressive and such a gifted stroyteller. Binge watching your content 🍿
Cool story. Great video. :)
Thanks so much Daniel!! Glad you liked it 😊
It seems like an epic tour❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I had absolutely no idea that Patagonia was an actual place.
Hahah yup! in Chile and Argentina 😊
Like button smashed. Great videos! Keep it up!
Woohoo!! Thank you 😊 🎉
Hey Taylor !
In Northern Europe we got no penguins but you get the Northern lights and you also get to sleep in an Igloo and if you need to go to the bathroom then 20 feet away from the igloo there is a house... just saying , you can enjoy the cold in a "civilized" manner as well 😂
Now, I'm dying to know what you thought about Austria ?
Dang!!! I never ever knew that you even went to Antarctica ( I knew of Iceland but Antarctica! Seriously!?) Both of these places are super favourite of mine. Gotta say you won the competition 😭
Cool adventure love to see more adventure travel content
Thanks so much Edward!! More adventure content to come for sure 😊
