The song ist about the relationship between the band members of Rammstein and also can be seen as expressing mourning over the loss of a loved person. Rammstein wanted to break up one or the other time and that is why they had even therapy sessions. But they always decided to stay together. For Heitmann (film direktor of this video) , the emotional message in the video is very important; "Ohne Dich" shows unity in the band. Richard said that the most important thing is to stick together, everything else is irrelevant. Therefore Rammstein is one of the few Bands that have managed to play in the same line up and with the same members for almost 30 years since they were founded. The funny thing is that Flake (Keyboarder) still denies that he is a member of Rammstein, because he actually never wanted to be part of Rammstein from the start because the music was too "simple" for him. Till and Richard always wanted to start solo careers. In addition, the Rammstein members constantly argued about every song, every video and every live show, how it could be done better. It actually almost came to a break up with the "Mother" video. Till shot the video alone without really involving the other band members. Rammstein not only had one group therapy with a psychologist over the years, but nevertheless they could never be without each other There were 5 or 6 ideas for this video. Some of the band members wanted to make a video at sea, others wanted to make it in the mountains. Richard wanted to make a video based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Match Girl" because it was the only fairy tale that made him cry, but the idea was rejected.. According to Joern Heitmann (film director), this is the most emotionally engaging video he has ever made with the band. For the video, the band members grew beards, because in the mountains there is no time to shave. Flake was the only one to have an artificial one. During the making of, Till can be seen wearing a shirt which makes fun of Flake and his beard. The climbing scene was shot on one of the climbing walls next to a parking lot, and the band could go as high as they wanted to. The band was accompanied by an experienced climbing team who taught them how to correctly climb the wall. The video was shot at +20 degrees. The snow was artificial, and the snow storm was created with the help of machines. Emanuel Fialik's assistant expressed his concerns about whether any of the band members would get hurt while shooting a video in the middle of the tour. Heitmann claimed that no one would have been able to stop Till from playing the falling scene. The original idea was that Flake would have to carry Till together with Schneider at 3,400 m above sea level, which was physically impossible for him. Richard admits that everyone always fights for their own scene when shooting videos and everyone wants to be able to play a part, so it's hard to work with them on the set.
Till wrote this song as apology for the quarrel that he caused when he made the video for the song Mutter single-handedly. The other band members were exhausted after the last tour and needed vacations. Till decided not to wait for the others and did it alone. As the band has no leader but decides everything via consensus, that led to a serious crisis within the band. So the song is about the band that only exists with all six original members. I'm not sure whether this agreement was made as a result of the crisis or whether this was already agreed in earlier times. The aluminium plate where Oliver punches in Till's name is the usual kind of tombstone for mountain climbers in regions where it is not possible to bring back a mountaineer that died during the ascent (e. g. in the death zone of Mount Everest).
7:30 There's actually a song about an environmental disaster by Rammstein: Donaukinder. It is about the poissoning of a river in eastern Europe with cyanide. There is no official video for the song, but a fan made one: ua-cam.com/video/qF8WFUE9mps/v-deo.html
The song describes the band cohesion and dynamics between everyone, especially Till. They can't be with each other and they can't be without each other.
If i remember correctly theres some argument about the meaning of the lyrics and it may be about drugs, but i think the video is clear - without each other, the band cannot be. They go back and drag Till with them because they always stay together 🥰
I always wait for every comment you make about rammstein and i love how you instantly understood the videos, the songs with their deep content, the band and their stage presence. You have already become a true RAMMSTEINER in such a short time. really greeeeeaaaat reactions🤘🙂👍
Hi D, thank you for your loyalty to Rammstein. In case you haven't seen it yet I recommend 'Rammstein live Paris 2012 full concert' here on youtube, you won't regret it. It's a burner (as we say in German).
Fantastic song. I saw this live last weekend on the last show from the 2023 and it was ABSOLUTLY perfect. There is also a Beta version from this song. It's just a little different. On the live show Paul plays the beta solo at the end.
Till always says that each person takes from a song what they choose. I enjoy that you try to see as many viewpoints as you can each time you listen to Rammstein. In my experience, Rammstein fans tend to be more thoughtful and really try to understand the translations (assuming they don't speak German) as best they can. It's what I find so fascinating about the band and so enjoyable about going to the concerts and being with other fans.
aah, superd..one of their best ballads..on the super geeky nerd front was those goggles the same Till used to wear in the early days when he suffered badly from stage fright?
Here is the meaning of the song "OHNE DICH" The song is a slow, black-romantic ballad that focuses on the loneliness of the lyrical I - as a dilemma in a relationship.
Of course song have many meanings. But I agree with it being geared more at "mother nature"..... Seeing the bare branches, and the birds sing no more. "without you I cannot be". "with you I'm also alone"
Been watching you since your first rammstien reaction... this was one of the songs i heard and video of theirs i first saw and boy i was moved by it... and heck ya its diffferent then their norm lol
"Weh mir, oh weh. Und die Sänger vögeln nicht mehr."😁 There is an excellent unplugged version of the song from a concert in Vienna. A thunderstorm caused a power failure at the concert. ua-cam.com/video/6VPVPSPofug/v-deo.html
The scene where Till falls off the mountain always bothers me. It doesn’t make sense. Before he steps on the loose rock, he is connected to the rope. Then he steps on the loose rock and he is suddenly not connected to the rope anymore. How does that work?
WTF?!? He is broken because he broke up with the woman he loved but couldn't live with. The man no longer finds any pleasure in life and at the first opportunity he practically tries to commit suicide. His friends are trying to get him out of depression, that's why they are with him on this mountain trip. Unfortunately, they cannot save him. What is so hard to understand? I see some stupid theories here that have nothing to do with the video and the lyrics.
@@virgiliustancu9293 Yes, the lyrics tell a story that can be interpreted, Rammstein are like that. That's basically the beauty of art. To be able to understand what reaches your heart, what speaks to you. Even after you find out the story behind a piece, you can understand another side to it. Without calling people stupid, you can be amazed at just how many interpretations a certain oevre can have and be happy it opens new doors of perceptions.
@@alexandrupatru2892 I know that story from the internet, but I don't believe it because the lyrics don't reflect that. Maybe that story appeared related to the moment when the song was released. Practically, a certain situation within the group created an additional layer of meaning. But I don't think that the composer and the author of the lyrics created the song with that additional meaning in mind.
@@virgiliustancu9293 Well, to be fair, only Till knows what he means in his lyrics. And openly saying one interpretation would defeat the purpose of the band''s art. In fact, they purposely make things be open to more meanings, from the lyrics, the pacing of the music, to their videos and live shows.

thanks for that info, I had no idea
thanks CHAT GTP! But thats wrong.
Your explanation has nothing to do with the video. This is in your head only. Just read the lyrics.
Ich empfehle Dir, die Making offs zu den Videos anzuschauen... interessant, lustig und beantworten auch manche Fragen über die Bedeutung der Lieder

Yes, that is now also the general opinion. They see each other as a unit. That was necessary when the company was founded, but it shapes it.
