Wow...This is truly an epic song in every way...lyrics, composition, creativity. Not sure how this slipped past me for all these years. I just rediscovered it and I'm blown away. Surprisingly, it's not even the most popular video of Modest Mouse.
I'm in the same boat friend. I loved it so much I just attempted a cover of it here at my lil channel. I play it now every time I sit down to strum a lil. Cheers!
I found this song after I went through a full depressed and mental breakdown, music I loved was just white noise and it scared the shit out of me, but after I got baker acted and was put on medicine, one of the first songs that made me feel something again was this song, I will always cherish it because of that

The stand out track on a really interesting and varied album which I listened to for the first time ever a couple of days ago. Naturally, this track is absolutely ear worming it's way around my brain for large parts of my waking hours. A charming upbeat tune with some great lyrical ideas that has lifted my spirits a dozen times or so already.

This is such an underrated song off such an underrated album from such an underrated band
Very true.
During underrated times and judged by overated critics.
One of my most favorite bands ever! So so so sad about Jeremiah. 😥 💔

[Verse 1: Isaac Brock]
While we're on the subject
Could we change the subject now?
I was knocking on your ear's door
But you were always out
Looking towards the future
We were begging for the past
Well, we knew we had the good things
But those never seemed to last
Oh, please just last

Sayin', "Yes, this is a fine promotion"
Oh, and I'll laugh all the way to Hell
[Verse 3: Isaac Brock]

Over such and such and such
We made ourselves a pillar
We just used it as a crutch
We were certainly uncertain
At least, I'm pretty sure I am
Well, we didn't need the water
But we just built that good Goddamn!

We just danced at our own wake
All our favorites were a-playing
So we could shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
[Verse 5: Isaac Brock]
Tiny curtains open and we heard the
Tiny clap of little hands, a tiny
Man would tell a little joke, and get a
Tiny laugh from all the folks, sittin'
Driftin' around on bubbles then
Thinkin' it was us that carried them
When we finally got it figured out
That we had truly missed the boat

I genuinely enjoy the fact that the robot appears to be left handed.
Used to love unwinding outside in the warm North Carolina evenings with a few beers and some Modest Mouse.
I'm so sad and miss being young. This music used to make me feel comfortable and now I'm just sad. Life is too hard.

im kinda scared to grow up, im only 16, i dont wanna become an adult but i know if i activly try not to, i wont be able to get anywhere in life..
Its all a matter of perspective, read the book called Daring Greatly by Brene Brown, you won't regret it ♡

I showed all of 'Modest Mouse' too my dad, but he specifically liked this song. I don't blame him.

I listened to this song on repeat for months after my sister died. It always made me feel the pain. I needed it. It is forever connected.

Johnny Marr is so underrated
How could you forget. He is amazing.
The whole alternate rock scenery in the north west was something to be seen
Modest Mouse is one of the greatest underrated bands of our generation. I saw them open for REM, and REM should have opened for them.
They sound like REM
I saw them open for REM too and I can't disagree more. REM is 100000x better.
