- In my opinion one of Taliesin’s best HDYWTDTs
I don’t think it’s fair for me to say I’m proud of how this turned out because of the simple fact others put in the real hard work and I just rearranged the pieces
Instead I think a more accurate sentiment is that I’m immensely satisfied with what I’m sharing
I really liked the change from Anders being just a bard who secretly followed the Whispered One in the campaign into someone more obviously vain and opportunistic for the animated series. The silver tongue was also an excellent addition both for the simplification of concentration mechanics as well as a fantastic visual of an abuser’s power

Ok, but the transition over "You're the face I saw when murder entered my heart" is *chef's kiss *
Indeed. Smooooooth.
Very smooth, I loved it. Literal chills
Pure ❤. It’s almost like they got the original voice actor to record for the show or something.
@@snbwz its more a compliment to the editing of the video than a "damn those two guys sound pretty similar"
@@oogwaysenpai454 yeah, for sure.
The nat 20 being conveyed as the bullet perfectly lining up to hit Anders the way it did is way too perfect
For real when I watched, I thought “surely that’s a nat 20”
This is why Taliesin is my favorite cast member. He comes up with these lines that sounds like they were written by professional writers on the fly all the time. I mean, once in a while we get "Life needs things to live", but for the most part, it's gold.
"Life needs things to live" is totally gold. Right up there with "Help, it's again"
Life needs things to live is still so on brand for Cad though.
"Help, it's again" is the anthem of my life.
@@Slade0120 Yeah but it was Percy who said it 😂
It's bad, we're running.
No Mercy Percy gets scary with those nat 20s. and its so glorious to watch.
In the animation, before Percy rolls that nat 20 and shoots Anders’ jaw off, you can see his eyes dart around, him mentally calculating his trajectory.
Also, when Percy blows what’s left of Anders’ head to bits, the eye of Orthax fills the screen for a second, as Percy’s demonic benefactor has another sinner soul to consume.
Plus, the bloodstain from the shot that disarms (or more accurately disjaws) Anders is a visage of Orthax.
Having an eye for detail is amazing.
When I first watched this episode I was totally sure that "ok this scene is obviously made up or exaggerated heavily by the rule of cool."
I was so naive until today...
From memory, I don't think they made a lot with the rule of cool for the show. They have obviously added some comedic stuff and cut short some others, like in season 1 with Vax, Scanlan and Percy having trouble with a door (no surprise), it was actually when they visited a temple in Whiterun, and not trying to sneak into the prison. Also, I don't remember them having urine thrown at them, at any point.
@@Phoen1xChan if anything they downplay how competent the crew, particularly Percy, can be in the show.
Uhm actually moment
Not a Whiterun temple my man
@@ИгорьСеминога Pretty sure the temple was in Whiterun.
thats no mercy Percy. its scary when he gets going with those nat 20s
Gosh I miss campaign 1. I know I can always rewatch it, but just the feeling of wonder I’d get from each episode was so magical. I never feel anything even close to that with Campaign 2 and 3.
Hi! I’m new and want to get into Critical Role. Should I watch the show or the campaign? I’ve also heard some people say that (if you watch the campaign) you should start with episode 24. What do you think?
It's hard for me to think what it'd be like to watch the show before the campaign, but I guess it could be nice for visualizing most of the characters.
I'd say give episode 1 a try, and if the audio quality is too bad or it's just too difficult to get into, skip straight to episode 24. But I definitely recommend eventually going back and watching the whole thing, because there's some great stuff in there.
Hope you enjoy it! Too many people are skipping straight to Campaign 2 and it's not nearly as good of a story.
Tal has so many ice cold lines in the Briarwood Arc
Never forget his coldest line:
Life needs things to live
"I'm going to take a leap of faith and assume, contrary to all evidence, that you're a smart woman"
1:00 top tier editing 💜
I think it's funny when people that didn't watch their game are complaining that Percy is just a cringe edgelord. When in actuality all of them were playing a character they wanted to do for fun without the fans influencing their decisions. In fact a lot of the choices the main cast made in game weren't to appease the masses, if they did then campaign 2 would've been a whole lot different when it came to who ended up together.
his lines are just so raw that you cant change them
I can’t get over how in the show when Percy get taken over, Matt sounds just like Alucard
There are so many different Alucards that come to mind though...Vampire Hunter D, Hellsing, Castlevania, the list goes on. 😋 I'm guessing you mean Hellsing Alucard though.
@@MrsLAnderson24 yeah I mean Hellsing Alucard haha sorry
@@cosmorror3907 Didn't mean to come off as mean or rude in that comment if so. Was just thinking that there are so many characters with the same name. I didn't realize just how many characters I knew of were named Alucard until then.
@@MrsLAnderson24 no no no you didn’t come off rude at all!! I understand how just saying Alucard can be confusing to most people haha, no harm done 😊
TLOFV just keeps reminding me how much I love Percy and Talesin like *chef kiss* the lines, the arc, the dramatic deliveries that sound fantastical and not forced at all, I love it all
You edit these so well, most people just play the two clips separately one after the other, it's much easier to grasp in your format. Great job 😁 Keep it up
the way i screamed when you edited the show melding into taliesin saying the liNE- PERFECT
This is funking insane i had no idea so much it was off the cuff and lucky roles. Gobsmacked
Omg I love these side by side so much. I was watching the animation and was assuming all the rolls please make more
you are a saint for making these. so epic!
god bless this man Taliesin
The editing is just perfect
And yet, so many great moments from the table never made it to the screen.
@1:06 Matt looks REALLY invested in what Taliesin's saying in my opinion.
love seeing these its a nice element to see how the stream and animated series are similar while also different
when i saw that shot percy did in the show, i knew it was a 20, cuz that shot was out of this world
I rewatched that scene from the animation like...50 times, it is just so damn cool!
SICK EDITING!
This scene gave me chills
Taliesin doesn't hold back at all... gotta love that
more omg i did know that i need this video so bad
Loving these
Wow. Your editing is amazing.
taliesin tha god
Friend of mine got me to watch Vox, realized I'd been sleeping on Critical
This is great
Possibly the rawest line in the campaign, if not all of Critical role, if not all of rpg actual play history.
These are great! Thanks for putting these together.
Jezus. Those Videos are sooooo gooood
now i see why it was a double ricochet, it was a nat 20
I'm *NOT* a gay man but Taliesin Jaffe aka Percy has a voice that could melt tempered steel.
Vex'ahlia is a very lucky woman
Geez, imagine if he rolled a 1
Bruh this is why the show is so fucking good
F awesome
Thats so well edited!
Digging this series! Subscribed!
Need more of these!
These are great!
i love it
Holy wow :O
Superb editing.♥
Damn. I forgot Percy did that.
That is the koolest shit I ever seen
I'm getting Chills xD
I miss no mercy percy
I want more of this. You have earned a sub from a single video. Not bad.
That was awesome! I need More of these please!!
Damn 😫💖
I knew this series was based on tabletop when watched it, but goddamn, I thought those "epic" moments was added to the show for sake of good storytelling, not taken straight up from the game
Also I always felt a bit awkward about Percy's character, cuz I knew that it had to be that one brooding edgelord player that depicted so much in DnD memes
Edit: I have to apologize for assumption about Percy, it seems whoever gets crow themed powers automatically becomes dark, brooding and edgy. Btw the more I watch S2 the harder for me to believe it was based on the tabletop game, even though it's already has been an established fact
probably safe to say most of the 'epic' moments from the show are going to be right from the game
I thought that when i first began watching critical role, then towards the latter half of the campaign, Percy was easily one of my favourite characters. Now Vax is pretty consistently broody with good reason throughout the whole campaign lol
I NEED to see Kevdaks death compared when they finally get around to that story line. :D
@@thegeneralmitch there is a teaser for it for this season. Cant wait!
This is a large part of the reason why they are the TTRPG show. They are very good at improv.
Hardest line EVER
Life is short. Do something to a bagel.
Am i the only one thinking demon percy sounds like fucking Alucard???
where can we listen to this campaign? when i go to spotify i cannot find this one and i want to listen to it since i've seen the show
All of campaign 1 is actually on a different channel called Geek and Sundry, with a few exceptions at the end.
This is the full playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PL1tiwbzkOjQz7D0l_eLJGAISVtcL7oRu_.html
@@Aureolelegends is that on Spotify? I can't find it, is kraghammer before the campaign In the show?
@@zictruswow This scene is from the episode called (podcast version) "Vox Machina ep. 33 - Reunions". Kraghammer is part of a story arc that was mostly cut from the show.
In The Legend of Vox Machina S1, the first two episodes are a rewritten version of events from their home game pre-stream (as an introduction and because some stuff is relevant to later plotlines), and then episode three onwards corresponds fairly closely to episodes 24-35 of the campaign, with the cliffhanger jumping ahead some (ep. 39).
@@TimpanistMoth_AyKayEll Thank you :D
@@zictruswow Unfortunately I don't think it's on spotify? Just gonna have to open UA-cam and listen to it like a podcast that way.
This is too good for words.
Technically Grog can't be charmed if he's raging or goes into a rage while charmed but I'm not sure if he did in the show or fight in Season 1 but regardless yeah cool scene.
i think he might have gotten controlled at this point just because he didn’t remember the at berserker ability. but during the fight at the ziggurat he remembered mid fight which is shown in the show when he shuts his eyes lol
Domination is different than charm
Foda demais!!!!!
If this is what Critical role was always like I would SO be into it. I’ll take Vox Machina all the same tho
This always bothered me, because isn’t grog immune to being charmed as a berserker barbarian?
IIRC he wasn't raging at the time, Berserker Barbarians are only immune to charm effects whilst in a rage.
@@luketfer There were times when Grog wasn't raging?!?! Lol
Only if he's raging
The interesting thing here is also Travis decidely not Metagaming as well. Grog is a Path of the Berserker Barbarian, when they rage they become immune to all charm and fear effects and disable those effects for the duration of their rage if it was cast on them before, which includes the spell Dominate person. Grog raging would have ended the mind control instantly but Travis decided to not have Grog rage and instead be fully mind controlled which led to this scene.
Kinda cool that it's based on an actual game. The show is probably quite good if you've followed the game as well. Sadly I'm not particularly interested in watching a DnD game.
Tis why d&d/ttrpgs are the best, yall.
