    Far more important than tension loss is the loss in Elasticity which reduces the energy return to the ball when struck. Poly loses elasticity far more quickly than multi. I've had freshly strung poly die in my bag after a week not having hit a single ball, whereas multi is still playable after 2 months. Conclusion : If you play with poly, make sure it's freshly strung, otherwise, say goodbye to your elbow.

    Harry you need to put a time limit on pick-up! 6 months and you don't pick it up then it is abandoned and on to Ebay it goes!

    So great video as well, but if I play with nxt Wilson string even at 16 gauge I can break the strings in under 8 hours of play, compared to solinco hyper g soft which will last me a week or longer. Nxt strings 20 something bucks hyper g 16 soft 11.99. I will stick with hyper g.

    When using the ERT, You’re supposed to hold the racquet at the grip, Not the yolk. Also, tension loss is insignificant compared to loss of elasticity. Even though both strings loss tension, the softer string did not lose its elasticity,,, the poly did. The result is, the poly is dead, even though one ball has yet to be struck.

    polys already lose a lot of tension in the first day. please do a video of tension loss for gut, multi, poly all in the first 12 hours.

    • @bmanbusee3812
      @bmanbusee3812 2 роки тому

      If not mistaken from my reading, think natural gut holds the best, followed by multi and last poly..

  • @cj_ssfsm
    @cj_ssfsm 2 роки тому +3

    So multi and synthetic holds over the poly and co poly?

  • @markbrodeur1707
    @markbrodeur1707 2 роки тому

    No surprise here. Poly loses tension quickly. Multi also loses some tension. I'd be interested to know what the tension loss is with Kevlar/synthetic hybrid and also with a full natural gut job.

    So the Hyper G after a year plus is at 37lbs. If you now strung an identical racquet with Hyper G fresh at 37lbs, would it feel and play the same as the one that has been in for a year, which has dropped down to 37lbs from original 50lbs.. Interesting experiment to try Harry, can get coach Gu to do a blind test, see if he can pick the difference.

    • @atomicampao

      In my experience, it will not feel identical. The new string will feel “crisp” and “springy” like a new string should while the old string will feel dead and unresponsive even if they were the same tension. This is because the old string has already been “stretched out” while the new string still has a lot of elasticity. My experience is only with poly and synthetic strings though; I do not have much experience with natural gut.

      Never pre-stretch anything but gut. But still, why bother even with gut? Especially never pre stretch poly. It's like a ball point pen spring, pull it above reference tension and it's ruined.

    Did you measure the original tension using the same tool?

    Then this test is bogus dude.
    Best you string some up fresh and redo with same tool. See you in a year.
