  • When you have a Poly and Multi Hybrid Tennis String Job. How long do they maintain tension and how will the different stiffnesses of the string react to each other?
    Thank you Scott for the question.

    I've been waiting for a video like this for a while! I use the Gamma Professional in hybrid with RPM Blast. I've been using this hybrid (or similar, had Wilson Sensation for a while) for the last 15 years. I've tried so many hybrid combinations but always comeback to this one.

    I have been using a hybrid in my PureStrike G3. HyperG mains and Vanquish Crosses at 51/53 and it has been great. With playing 3-4 times a week typically break the multi's every 2 weeks or so.

    A combo that works for me is,
    Head Hawk (mains)
    Head Velocity or Reflex MLT (cross)
    0,5kg higher tension on the crosses.
    Finally found a combo that works for med.
    Thanks for all vids and play more.
    Cheers!!

    Love your channel! Big question that I’m having a hard time finding an answer on: Hybrid with poly
    Mains and multi crosses (nrg2 in fact, per your suggestion.) . I see most people recommending lower tension on the poly mains, and higher tension on the multi crosses. I’ve done the opposite, poly main @ 53 and NRG2 crosses @ 50. Is this totally back asswards? I kinda like it??? Anyone else doing this? THANK YOU, your channel has helped me fall back in love with tennis after 15 year hiatus.

    I use Tour Bite on the mains at 47 lbs and a multi on the crosses at 52 lbs. This works well for me but I noticed at after 2-3 weeks the tension loss is significant enough to impact how it plays. And I have to adjust my strokes to the loss of tension. Then after 4 weeks the poly is dead. So i have to restring. I don't think the difference in tension will affect the durability of the racket. The racket is already taking tremendously high impulsive forces every time you hit a ball and a 5 lb difference is nothing. I will say that there is an environmental impact using Poly because you have to restring so often.. Where does the old strings go? Into a landfill where it will remain for over a century. I save my old strings and recycle them but almost no one else does this.

    Good cross is head velocity mlt 17. Mains can be head lynx 16 or lynx touch. This combo provides true touch, feel and, believe it or not, spin. Do not string M's or X's above mid recommended racquet tension.

    great question. good to hear tennis spin's opinion. i used to do hybrid but now i've settled on a multifilament all the way. mostly because i don't want to worry about the different rates of tension loss between the 2. plus it's super comfortable. also, i've found that when the multi breaks in a bit and begins to get a little rough, i get some of that same bite effect on the ball for spin that poly gives you with its stiffness. the main thing i miss from the hybrid approach is that strings stay in straight lines better. i think that's because the poly is slippier and allows the multi to slide back into place. with mult all the way, i'm having to straighten the string bed a bit during the match.

    • @hafadaze9046
      @hafadaze9046 Рік тому

      Yeah that’s what I notice with multis the strings don’t snap back like polys do but they do hold tension longer than poly. With poly they’re more durable but you lose tension faster and have to restring like every 3 months at least depending how much u play. While multis hold tension way longer and you can play with it til I breaks only problem is that they tend to break much easier compared to a poly

      @elchanclascocina Рік тому

      Would you consider yourself a string breaker? For me, Multis are very comfortable, powerful, more control, definitely less spin. Issue is the most I've gotten from them is 6 hrs, with some types less than 90 mins, hybrid, full bed, any combination.

    On a full bed of Polly is a two-piece versus a one piece stringing gonna make any difference?

  • @robertjacobson941
    @robertjacobson941 Рік тому +5

    Just my opinion but after trying many hybrid combinations and being universally disappointed, I think it's best to use the same string in the M's and X's and tinker with the tension for comfort or power or spin. Unless you're stringing at 70#, frame damage seems highly unlikely.
