Or maybe the people just don’t like it, but most critics don’t explain that much. Also “spectrum pulse” ‘s video was mostly complaining about the management, while they only signed with WM the I’m ready era, while remaining all creative freedom and with the click and so on, they were signed with “ajr productions” so I don’t see the point

Adventure Is Out There is about Ryan and Jack reminiscing on old memories that they were reminded of while looking for their socks, because they left their socks in a lot of those places i.e:- his ex’s house, some hotel in Germany, somewhere in the sea, Joe isn’t about a school bully, they’ve discussed this THOUSANDS of times since the album came out, they even said if it was about a bully, it would be lame, low and boring, Joe is about a popular friend that Ryan from AJR always wanted to be like and looked up to. It’s a song about how it feels to surpass your role models. Not dissing some bully.

A great example is the song "Adventure is Out There", my personal favorite. When I think of "The World's Smallest Violin", I think of small artists. Like, AJR in their early days, or even you guys. The small artist is the violin, and the audience is the number of people that follow that artist. I feel that this song talks about how small creators that don't get recognition may give up but if they don't they will benefit from it. "I'll blow into Smittherens, and spew my tiny symphony". I feel that lyric explains what I just said, but I don't know, I may be "overthinking" it. (See what I did there!)

I think that something AJR does is they are about the same age as the people who can relate to most of their lyrics. They can hit their audience deep with the lyrics but with the sound and beat can give us hope and show us that we can get through everything and that we aren’t alone. They do this so well. Most artists write sappy music and make it sound sappy and it makes people who listen to it more sad. AJR makes the hardships of being a kid and young adult and uses their sound to make it so positive. I love it.

The song Joe, to me, wasn't religious, but they wrote it in a way that had parallels to religion. Saying he believed in God, then describing a person, to me means back in school he had a friend, or someone that he looked up to and viewed them as 'God', like a role model and someone they wanted to be, then mentions him making fun of his last name, so much so that he doesn't even go by his last name anymore, which basically crushed him. To think of someone as a friend or a role model and then have them think negatively about you. Then the second verse mentions a girl who, on the surface, seemed like she really cared about him, but she would never go to his shows and never supported him. In the chorus he says something along the lines of 'I should have left
you in school, look at all the things I do, I've done shows in Belarus, Joseph don't you think I'm cool', and the very end of the song when he says 'maybe I'll put out this song, and I won't change your name at all' (which means whoever he's talking about, their name wasn't Joe, but they used it along with the God theme to show the parallels to religion), then says 'maybe then you'll call me up, and you'll tell me how cool I got', basically saying to the both of them (Joe and the woman referenced in the second verse) look at me now. Look how you treated me, and look how cool my life is now.

It has nothing to do with god, they confirmed it and also said they’re not religious at all. It’s that they viewed Joe as a god, because they wanted to be like him. And also they didn’t change the name, the name of Ryan’s Joe is really Joe.

    Some notes from me:
I LOVE Three O’Clock Things because it really does perfectly encapsulate that “what if they don’t like me? I feel like I’m not real” vibe that randomly shows up in the middle of the night. ALSO FUCK RACISM, good on that.
The Trick: Loving how the first verses are the compulsive/pathological liar and his real, true voice starts to show up in the chorus, and then on the final chorus there’s no hint of the liar, but it may be too late even though he’s 100% honest. I didn’t like it at first, but that’s deep and I love it.
World’s Smallest Violin - There’s something about ever-increasing final verses that really butter my biscuit. Karma did a similar thing where it was like one whole breath and this one ESPECIALLY on the line “Now come in with the timpanis and take a shot of Hennessey” just hits so well. I honestly think the songs that weren’t prereleased outdid the prereleases, though Bummerland is right up near the top of my list.

The thing about AJR is that they sing and make songs about "real situations." Even if you don't know it or "see it"
in the song, every one(or almost every song) is somehow related or "tied" to life, with problems or joys or just random things. (its hard to explain but yeah.) And even if the "situations" aren't happening in your life they might be happening in theirs.

At 35:02 I noticed the red beta in your fish tank is struggling to swim down, she keeps floating up. My beta used to do this sometimes, it's an issue with the swim bladder that you can fix. I recommend looking into this yourself, because it's been a few years since I've dealt with it, but one possible cause is constipation from overfeeding; you can feed her skinned frozen peas to help her pass it. Also try to give her food that sinks, in case she's gulping air from the surface when she eats. And the biggest tip, which really helped mine a lot, is adding some aquarium salt to the water. And antibiotics if nothing else helps.
I'm loving the reaction part of the vid lol, just noticed the tell-tale signs and wanted to help if I could.

Hey guys, you guys are interesting. First time watcher of your channel. I really wish I had someone there listening to this album with me for the first time. I've been a fan of AJR for about two years now when my son and I were playing our alexa game when we dont know what song we want to listen to. We just ask alexa "alexa, play..." whatever word, phrase, question comes to mind. I asked my wife what song she wanted she said "I dont know but I'm ready", so we asked to play "I'm ready" my 1.5 year old daughter and 4 year old son loved the beat and we played it over and over again. I had no idea what I was walking into when I went to listen to their other songs. Yeah "I'm ready" is fun with a great beat, but to me? That's not really them at all.
I think sober up was the next one I listened to then birthday party, damn these guys are deep. Legos I didnt like at first but it grew on me and I love it now, I can go on and on and I didn't know when these all came out chronologically.
Back to OK Orchestra now. I listened to it on my ear buds+ while driving the RV at least 10 times last week all the way through. No album by anyone has ever done that to me. That obsession (for lack of a better word) for this album started on 4/4/21, I'm still listening to it every day all the way through.
I'm curious what you guys think of the album now that you have probably listened to it more than once. Yesterday I watch a full interview with AJR about this album which cleared some mysteries up. All but why the god references in Joe. I'm guessing because they believed in god back in 8th right along with believing in this popular guy Joe whom Ryan idolized and kinda still does today but that faith in god faded like you talked about.
Anyway, loved this album! What a lyrical journey and so many eargasms from the production. It was cool to see your reactions.
