It's a pity that mod creators are moving away from version 1.5.97 and some even hide mods from this version on Nexus (like Arthmoor) and you have to search on your own.
los nuevos mods no parecen ser muy buenos, mejor buscar las versiones archivadas compatibles con la version 1,5,97
I've been on a bullet proof list running on 1.6.640. Special sauce too.
Any good dragon combat animations for this version?
Veteran since the very beginning. 1.6.1170 here and beside the grass, I have no complaints. that's running 1400+ mods. But come on guys who are we kidding- we all probably mod more than we actually play....
I heared that Vallhala Combat is buggy on 1.6.1170? For me there is no other way for combat overhaul, so 1.5.97 is better.
@@Trickyman26 each to their own.... there are lots of combat mods
@@leagreenall5972 I know there are, but nothing balanced gameplay wise.
Old Wildcat or Combat Evolved is not enough. Vallhala alone is not enough for me either.
For that I use Vallhala as a basement only. Then I pick Valravn+Valhalis OR Chocolate Poise+Chocolate Poise Plus+Plus Combat.
My two most favorite choices. Of course with Precision, True Directional Movement, SCAR and others.
But for all of this, Valhalla is the most important part. Without it, it is not good enough. Damage is to low or enemies are to spongy. Leveling is odd, too easy, too passive enemies, unbalanced staggering and so on.
.640 with 2k mods and I'm not budging bois
I’m at 976 mods and no crashes (yet). .640 is not as bad as people give it credit for
@@cosmiccustard9726 Yea probably my most stable list yet so far. Hope you enjoy it.
4:27 wtf
Ok I’m saving this vid in my playlist so when I get my new GPU I know what’s going on. The last Steam sale I picked up Skyrim SE In preparation so this video confirms I made the right move. 👍🏾 thanks again, your content just keeps getting better. ✊🏾
1.5.97 best of both worlds is where it's at frfr
does that allow 1.6.640 mods also?
@@lag00n54 nope .some might work but naha
@@zauce1627 eh figured
It be a gamble
And even then loot won't like it
Rn me accidentally updatong skyrim made me not play it for months still haven't
After modding that game for days
Now it's not even that easy to downpatch it thanks bethesda
@@lag00n54 bugthesda** its up to your preferences , i mean most old mods are convereting to LE now and its a good thing ,latest update = bug fixes
I'm that newbie modder who tried modding 1.5.97 didn't know what he was getting into and screwed everything up and somehow ended up using 1.6.1130.
1.5.97, got zero problems. What would be reasons to upgrade anyway?
Exactly lol no reason to upgrade, everything works on it
@@mastercheesey the unnoficial patch only supports 1.6.1130 or newer. i still dont know if it is worth it to upgrade
@@dnkpablo you can use the newest version on 1.5.97 , loot just won't like it
@@dnkpablounofficial patch author also archived the old version files like a jerk lol
@@Named9000 What an absolute bastard.
yeah but how to get mods for 6640? like skyrim unofficial patch, only up-to-date version is "supported"
I'm still on .353 with a 700 mod load order, most of the time it runs fine. Idk why this version is so hated bc there is still thousands of mods compatible with this version
Legendary edition, its never gonna get updated again. Im a simple guy
1.5.97 BoBW is objectively the best version. 😊
1.5.97 Best of both Worlds is probably ideal if you want AE content. Additionally .NET Script Framework and No Grass in Objects is something I wouldn't mod without. Personally I just stick with 1.5.97 without downgrading as I don't use AE or CC mods.
I dont know if u see my comment, but which skyrim to buy if i want ae content and also want to mod the game? Should i buy skyrim from gog or steam? Idk. I would much appriciate the help.
@@AncientLegends1I only own the Steam edition, so I'm not sure about modding with GoG. You'd have to do a bit of research for that. I do not have any data to support this, but If I had to guess I'd say that the overwhelming vast majority of modders are using Steam edition. So compatability with mods in that regard is a non issue. If you want the AE content, then get the current version of the game. You can always downgrade the game version with a patcher (and keep your AE content) if you decide to use a mod, mod list or mod pack that relies on an older version of the game.
Personnaly I have never had an issue with Steam and modding. if you are new to modding, there are plenty of great guides for getting started and best practices . Gamer Poets youtube channel is a great place to start. He has excellent, easy to follow guides to get you up and running, ensuring a successful modding journey.

Take your time, start small and enjoy the process. Best of luck to you, cheers!
The latest updates don't increase the amount of ESL/ESPFE plugins you can use, it only extends/doubles the amount of records within the ESL file itself.
There are downsides to 1.5.97. Some authors just don't want to make versions for it anymore and even though someone usually ends up porting those back, many of those ports don't keep up with updates for the original mod.
Another thing I've noticed is that many mods have received updates/bug fixes for the newer versions whereas the versions made for 1.5.97 are stuck and may never receive updates.
The latest versions change the base code-line inline coding and according to mod authors like Doodlum some mods aren't even possible on AE because of that.
TLDR: I hate Microsoft and Bethesda lol.
1.5.97 is still king
Agreed
Yup have the least issues there
I like 1.6.640 and there's no reason to update rn. But more importantly does anyone know what idle animation mod is at 1:53?
hey whats the armor your wearing name
So ive played before but never on pc. Im thinking about buying Skyrim on steam and getting into modding and I am wondering should I get the anniversary edition or the special edition or does it really even matter?
If you're buying a new game, you'll always get Anniversary Edition 1.6+. You'll need to down patch it using a mod to turn it to 1.5.97 which Special Edition. Downgrading is fairly easy, less than 5 mins. You can seach downpatcher on nexus. Most importantly, read and understand instructions on the mod page. Plus, there are tons of skyrim modding guides on youtube, most technical ones are very old but still can be used. Good luck and welcome to the family.
Honestly the only reason i wanted to backport was because of combat pathing revolution. But I decided to let go if it and just mod on the latest. An extensive mod list later with some cc included mods THEN THEN BACKPORT MOD ARRIVED damnit sadness.
well 1.5.97 STILL doesn't have a backport of Journeyman, which is go-to mod for fast travel mechanic improvement, also iirc custom skill framework has compatability issues on 1.5.97
I use the latest 1.6.1170 and all working fine but still waiting TK dodge RE
Welp....im on 1.6.353...RIP Honestly tried to get back into modding skyrim forever ago and decided to do it on SE just to keep up with the times, then bethesda sent out that update...I tried reverting after accidientally updating my game and just modding again and now im left confused as I have no idea what version of the game I should mod. Should I just go back to the og game and try remaking what I recall being an extremely good mod list plus downloading a few extras? Or should I go full force into the future here and just get the newest version and go from there. Or do I exist in the limbo of an older version of SE? Its getting a lot of new mods now but so many old mods that were converted over that I loved might not work anymore. Its all so damn confusing, thanks bethesda.
I got Skyrim in late 2021 I believe and immediatelly started modding and downgraded my version to 1.5.97.
I literally never saw any reason to use any other version. AE is literally the same thing just with slightly less mods.
Faster hdt smp also is not updated for that latest version
I’m in 1.640 and the only reason I’m not downgrading is because I have over 1600 mods and don’t feel like downgrading 😂
Interface and HUD mod plz
Good vid. I need V1.5.97.0.420 to install those big boob mods. Not the updated AE ones from Nexus but the ones that mod the big boobs to be so big that the game goes unstable, so the mod files need to be hidden on pirate websites.
Special Services?
i want ur mod list
The best version is the GOG DRM FREE Version! 1.6.659.0
man your game seems to lag every time you hit an enemy, have you never noticed?
it kinda almost locks up for a split second pausing combat with every hit, weird..
anyway
hope you can fix your pc, because those constant lag spikes would be so immersion breaking to me
That’s actually hot stop lol from precision it’s on purpose
☠️
Bruh delete this shit 😂😂😂
Can you use creations on 1.5.97 version though? I actually enjoy that content. : \
As far as i know the creation content only present in version 1.6x. So yeah you can’t
Actually there are some mods which allow some creation content
I'm on .640 and I have lots of mods that only support up to .640 tops
I use lite loader by doodlez so I can switch between 1.5.97 best of both worlds and 1.6.640 whenever I want
como funciona lite loader, puedo usar mods de 1.6.640 en 1.5.97, o simplemente puedo alternar entre una version o la otra, cargando diferentes perfiles de listas de mods
4:27 Which Version????
So should i buy AE and downgrade or SE and stay on it?
Honestly I myself like the extra content of creation club stuff from AE but it’s not worth it unless it’s on sale for like 10$ dollars but either way yeah downgrade to 1.5.97 , if you have AE use best of both worlds
@@mastercheesey Ok so i got myself SE and will now downgrade to 1.5.97. Thank you very much for the quick help! :)
@@mastercheesey Sorry for troubling you again but while modding i ran into a few of my old mods depending on the "Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch" whose author went out of his way to hide every version before 1.6.XX. Is this a common practice or could i even use the newer verion of some mods for 1.5.97?
no reason to upgrade from 1.5.97
.640 is the best for the now but once every mod has been updated it’ll be unnecessary
always latest one, then from there ofc we can discuss downgrade , i prefer AE one 1 6 40 i think was
there's another update coming
Really?? Maybe it’s small and for consoles mainly again
Do you plan to upload a wabbajack modlist ?
I also use 1.6.640 it is very stable. Have 1300+ mods. Mods that don't have update for this version has an alternative like ultimate potion ng or wait your turn, instead of combat pathing.
This video is way too meandering. Work from a script next time.
1.6.353 here
vr
I use the newest with 800 mods
Me too😆
write an annotation for the video and links for mods, there is a lot of water in the video, dislike unsubscribe.
i use the 1.6.640. its the most stable version with compactibility with almost all mods on nexus.
I wanted to mod this one but it didn't have core combat mods. This was half a year ago.
@@bluerie It has pretty much everything now. It's a fine version to mod on, don't know why this guy thinks you need to avoid it
there's also finally working 1st person mod that doesn't require .NET framework so works with .640
This has got to be the most confusing video about this topic that i have come across.
You do nothing but ramble all over the place, making it almost impossible for anyone to follow what you are talking about.
In fact, half the time i was not even sure if you knew what points you were talking about.
Come on . . . . you can do better than this.
Take time to organize your thoughts and to stick to your points instead of just saying whatever comes to mind.
Personally I enjoy the way he rambles. I find it to be part of this channel's charm and what characterizes it from the other Skyrim mod videos available.
@@Evogurl-gf4ne Normally I would agree with you, as I usually do enjoy his videos and his ramblings. However, on this topic I did find it harder to follow the thought lines, and sometimes I wasn't sure as to which points were connected to which version.
After re-reading my comment, I think I could have started with how i usually find his videos fun, and then bring up how the rambling didn't seem to suit the topic. It would have sounded less harsh.
I DO agree with his points made, and that 1.5.97 is the best version for modding in the long run.
