I started reading his books about 30 years ago and I thought what he said sounded reasonable so I followed his advice to a degree. Since then I've tried low-carb and Vegan Diets and always I return to a pseudo-Mediterranean diet now I'm remembering a great deal of what he told me so long long ago and I'm happier and healthier thanks to his guidance. Thank you, Dr. Weil.
i love andrew weil ideas for eating healthier. i was always interested in learning more about what he did to help other patients this by far amazing. i love his outlook at life. a lot of doctors don't really treat the problem. they come back with other issues for patients. I love to be able to get to the rid of the problem so that the chronic conditions don't keep happening
I also could not help but notice that he looks overweight-however, he has said in the past that he thinks there are advantages of body fat, even a certain amount of obesity, as we age-as long as we have a healthy diet and lifestyle. Check out his videos about that. He is around 80 years old now. Very interesting. I'm not sure what to think about that, but I'll reserve my judgement for now. There is so much conflicting information out there. Who knows what, anyway???
Kathy Strom: It is logical really, since one then has something to draw from in late stage of life where one mostly loses too much weight, often with health issues. Some overweight also poses a cushion a protective layer against the harshness of the world and makes one a bit calmer, sturdier, phlegmatic. Not to mention the reserve it poses in the event of hard times with starvation. There is a difference in where the overweight is at, the apple-shape, Stomach area, (which he may have (although I haven't looked/seen closely)) is the bad one, whereas pear-shape, bottom- and hips area is good. As you correctly mention, the diet, pure cooked warm water intake as well as daily movement and soul-spiritual practices and good relationships is A and O. The best is if the weight is spread all over the whole body. A skinny person can be more endangered than a fat one, if he doesn't move, no sunlight, no healthfood, no water, resentment, materialism, lack of good relatinships and meaning in life... :-)
Why don't you reserve your judgement forever? What a rude comment to make on someone who has made such a difference for so many people. How would you feel if you were him and you read the comment you wrote? That's so hurtful. Let's be kind.
@@wendyhaleysd I'm sorry you felt it was hurtful. I didn't mean it that way, and I think Dr. Weil would understand what I meant. I wasn't judging HIM for being overweight, I meant that I was reserving my judgment about his prior ADVICE about the value of being overweight and even obese in older age. I've been exploring the importance of carrying extra weight as we age, and that goes against all my previous understanding on that subject. In this video, I observed that Dr. Weil is a living example of his advice. I still didn't quite get the value of that until my 97-year-old mother recently had a stroke and had to go to a nursing home because I could not lift her. She immediately started gaining a huge amount of weight there, and I was concerned for her health until a nurse told me that the overweight patients do MUCH better there than the underweight patients. That confirmed to me that Dr. Weil was right. Being in my 70s, I'd been striving to be lean, but I'm rethinking that now while still eating healthy and striving to be stronger. Anyway, I no longer RESERVE my judgement about Dr. Weil's advice about the value of obesity in old age... I now understand it. Claudia Bothner in her previous comment was right.
He looks good!
It's hard to understand how the food plan Dr. Weil promotes has not decreased weight and fat? Excess fat and high BMI must impact Glucose levels and inflammation. Wondering
How did I manage to not find this?
The reposter over and over: “oh, I love that.
I taught myself and felt good enough with A Weills breathing, but was vehemently dissuaded from ever holding my breath by a combined Chiropractor, Naprapath and Ostheopath. I still wonder what the truth is. i think doing his breathing without ever gettingb help to change into the caklm system, but continuing having astressful, sleepless, = malnourished "life" is not good. For it to be good, one has to have a reasonable situatioin and calmness, like himself.
What's up with his bellyfat??
Me thinks the good doctor has been secretly wolfing down cheeseburgers.
I'm not sure why Dr Weil's body or weight is not the same as other plant-based doctors like Dr. Colin Campbell, Dr Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr Neal Bernard, Dr. Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr Joel Furhman, and other PBD doctors.
Is he manifesting/walking his message? Sorry... I'm just seriously curious.
I do know that belly fat is a great source of inflammation, lol.
Then why is he overweight????
Why is this wonderful doctor so overweight ? OMAD for 3 months and he will have lost most of that excess weight.
I do not mean to disparage anyone here, but this doctor is overweight with a huge belly. He looks puffy, pale and unwell. This is not a picture of good health at all. There is obvious inflammation in his body.
He is 80 years old...
Was thinking same
People have mentioned that he is overweight, but what about his skin? He looks like an avocado had hate sex with an older, more disgusting avocado. There was something wrong with the relationship and that was the only catharsis that they could find without violence.
Why is he so round in the tummy???
He’s obviously not practicing a true anti-inflammatory diet with that beer gut.
Awe so so sad to see this man looking so unhealthy!
He has some belly fat, I ll give you that, but still, he s very sharp and active for a 80 yo
That is what I have been saying for years! He is fat and yet he is preachng to us about health. Shameless!!
He doesn't look unhealthy! He's 80 years old and his face hasn't really aged at all! He's slightly "overweight, " but it's been proven that a little extra weight for elderly people is actually better than being too thin! Having a little belly for 80 year old man doesn't mean he's "unhealthy" !
You are expert by just by looking at people.
Dr Andrew knows what he is talking about.
I see a wise man sharing his knowledge.
He doesn’t look healthy.
