A10s have a 90m loiter while F35 only has 30m. 4. A10 pilots are CAS specialists, F35 pilots have to be air to mud, air to air and CAS. In the long run some training is going to get shorted and it won’t be air to air… 5. Did I mention A10s have successfully returned to base with a wing and a half? 6. How quick can you change the engines on a F35, oh and if your one engine on a F35 gets hit you have how many engines left?

F35 scares me more because the gun is actually accurate
A10 is very unique it’s bulletproof, mostly all-around you can carry three times more arsenal, weapons compared to F35 tactical and ground advantage, the purpose of using A10 is to support our ground troops 👍🇺🇸🥇
The problem is that the a10 can be shot down
The F-35 in non-stealth "beast" mode can literally carry TWO 30mm pods, plus it's internal 25mm....and still lift as much weight in bombs and missiles as an A-10.
....all while retaining the ability to exceed the mach.
1. The usaf doesn’t use GPU 5s, they used them for exactly 1 day during Desert Storm and decided they were shit.
2. If they did put GPU 5s on a F35 you would eliminate the stealth capability.
3. A10s have a 90m loiter while F35 only has 30m.
4. A10 pilots are CAS specialists, F35 pilots have to be air to mud, air to air and CAS. In the long run some training is going to get shorted and it won’t be air to air…
5. Did I mention A10s have successfully returned to base with a wing and a half?
6. How quick can you change the engines on a F35, oh and if your one engine on a F35 gets hit you have how many engines left?
While exceeding Mach… so full afterburner to hit Mach and now your loiter time is 5minutes?

...But even the best designs have their day. Even in Desert Storm the F-16 and F-111 were as effective at killing tanks. The A-10 can loiter...but so can a high flying F-16, F-35, Mud Hen, or bomber...and ALL with just as good of accuracy. You may have to vector in a fresh F-XX to the fight, but it can get there mighty damn fast...like "Crossing Texas in 30 Minutes fast".
Meanwhile the 30mm isn't effective against modern MBTs, while APCs and Troop concentrations are all as vulnerable to 20 and 25mm fire as they are 30mm.
Meanwhile the A-10 has been mostly relegated to fighting the same way everything else does.
Biggest differences at the F-35 will be able to tell enemies and friendlies apart. The British will love it.

An A-10 can probably take 3-4x the damage an F-35 can and still return home.
The F35 wouldn’t take any damage because it’ll be high up sniping tanks with whatever glide bombs or missiles lockheed martin develops
To my knowledge, there's been 5 damaged A-10s and only 1 known has managed to RTB
