Great interview. Listening to Sunil Gavaskar always enriches my knowledge of Cricket. Btw the comments here are a disgrace. "Please interview X/y/z." Why not appreciate the video itself if you cared enough to click on it and happened to like it?
Another lovely interview. Gavaskar is so genuine, especially when he says how liberated after he started batting with Cheeka. While Gavaskar did the famous act of 36 not out in 60 overs, to the utter dismay of the viewers in 1975, the same Gavaskar in his penultimate World Cup appearance in 1987, tore the Kiwi attack apart along with Cheeka and Sidhu, won with several overs to spare, in true T20 style. That a purist , who can leave the outside the off-stump balls with the concentration of a sage, can reinvent himself, is something for all of us to introspect. Thanks, once again, Ashwin.
What a surprise Mr. Raghu! I just saw this beautiful episode, and lo! Your comment appears right there! It's great to see your point, after the happy experience of seeing Sunil Gavaskar talk. I am an ardent fan of him as well. Everyday I have a habit of watching a new clipping of Sunil Gavaskar bat, from the old archives of youtube, and also listening him speak for at least a few minutes. You guys are legend. Believe me Gavaskar Sir is a true ambassador of the game not only for his batting but also for the communication skills, knowledge about the game and voice for the international cricket.
Nice conversation. I have seen Sunil G. play at ICF stadium in Perambur in 70's for Deodhar trophy. Quite approachable and very down to earth gentlemen.

Dear Ashwin, these interviews may go down as your best contribution to the sport outside the grounds.* *Pls NEVER stop. Also pls need an episode with the other great cricketing brain - Our own Thala*
The greatest thing about Gavaskar was that even when helmets were available he chose not to wear one, the only other guy who did that was Viv Richards. That requires true grit, bravery and great belief in his defense. No wonder he was the first to get to 10k in tests.
Not only that, he opened the innings, not knowing how the pitch behaves and the movement and bounce. Viv came at 2 down, and so did Sachin. Gavaskar single handedly put India on the cricket map. When India was just 25 years out of Independence Gavaskar elevated every Indian to take pride and not bow down. If Cricket is religion in India, then Gavaskar is the God. The Sachins and Kohlis are equally good, but they stand on Gavaskar's shoulders. He IS the foundation of Indian batting.
One of the greatest batsman..Yes... Greatest Indian test batsman Yes.. Greatest cricketer ? I doubt.. That needs other qualities like playing for team ..obeying captain.coperation with captain putting team interest above personal mile stones..etc

Nobody can bowl like Chandra bcz his hand would swing like 'kavan kal'(in Tamil). Also Chandra had this unique way of holding the ball in his right hand and see the base of the stumps infront of it before starting his run up.
One of the BEST interviews I have ever seen, both the interviewer and the interviewee. Straight up honest and straight from the heart. For some of us, it was a sheer delight to watch Sunny on a winter afternoon with 80,000 roaring fans in Eden Gardens in the '70's, exquisitely square-cutting. That was style, which I have never seen in anyone later. Sunil Gavaskar is still my hero. There are other players who may have scored more runs than him, but the style, elan and non-chalance with which he cracked Dennis Lillee playing for the Rest of the World in 1974, is unparalleled in the history of at least the Indian cricket.
ash, I would say that this is the best interview you have done so far. I still get inspiration by looking at what sunil gavaskar did in the 70s 80s with so much difficulties. I am still the big fan of sunil's streight drive. nobody has mastered it as much as the little master did.
I hope Ashwin interviews Dilip Vengsarkar as he was a great batsman and one of the few batsmen world-wide who performed well against the mighty West Indies of the 70's and 80's.🙏

Very interesting and informative interview Ashwin. Hats off to you . I wish Gavaskar had mentioned Dilip Sardesai with whom he had some fantastic partnership during his first tour of West Indies. I think they both were competing with each other scoring century and double century.
I have been a fan of Sunil Gavaskar ever since his debut. Not being a cricket player myself but an ardent watcher, my reason to be his fan was not his batting but his dedication to task on hand. Opening for India was clearly one of the most difficult jobs in cricket that time. Clearly visible form the number of partners he has had. He simply put his head down and worked his way. One wonders how many centuries he would have if he did not have to plod to hold up one end as he watched the procession on the other end. Thank you for being such an inspiration for me to always try and do my job right. Of course, I got out more often than you did. Lots of Love
Congratulations on the interview. It was fantastic watching the background work up and thinking behind the game. Ashwin bro, My father also fan of Gavaskar sir. He stand in the Grease like a Anchor (nangooram) in one end. My father's favourite shot of Sunil Gavaskar sir shot is square cut and fine leg Leg Glance bouncing Ball for four. That bouncing delivery coming to hip how Gavaskar sir played Leg Glance can't imagine, that ball was going through the ground not ballooned or not in a air, mainly fast bowler. In 1987 against Pakistan in Bangalore,he was playing great innings but he was out in 97. It was very sad. But that match we were lossed.
Very nice interview! Only Ashwin from current Indian cricket team understands the history of Indian team / players and can carry such a conversation. Connoisseurs delight.

Dear Ashwin, I have been following your chats. Chaalaa Baagunnaayi. This one with Little Master is out standing . The way he supported that run out (I don't like to call Mankading) incidence in IPL is really admirable. I totally support your action when the bats man tried to take undue advantage . I love and like the way you respect and reciprocate with the people at the other end. Please keep on doing this. God bless you with many more achievements and mile stones ahead.

This is easily one of the best by you Ashwin. A fantastic conversation with one of India's proudest cricketing sons. And his thought processes are so crystal clear about the game and how it should be played. It was very clear that this was an interview by not just a fanboy - it was more like a Guru-Sishya conversation. I was glad to hear about Gavaskar's opinion on the non-striker run out and I agree with him that the usage of Mankad's name with that dismissal should be stopped. Wonderful and thank you so much for doing this interview.

@@sharathadithiya448 hi bro. How r u?
@@karthikyallapragada4458 fine buddy . wth abt u
@@sharathadithiya448 that's good to hear bro. Ok good👍😀
Ashwin bro, My father also fan of Gavaskar sir.
Really good to see in youtube and it's great to hear that u r a icc player nominee 🔥🔥 keep rocking 🔥🔥❤️
Very nice interview! Only Ashwin from current Indian cricket team understands the history of Indian team / players and can carry such a conversation. Connoisseurs delight.
Ashwin you are a real all rounder yaaar... You speak to natarajan or gavaskar the same way... You are a real charm... Hats off ashwin.. You are too matured for your age 👌
Carl hooper liked gavaskars technique more than west indian greats
Dear Ashwin, I have been following your chats. Chaalaa Baagunnaayi. This one with Little Master is out standing . The way he supported that run out (I don't like to call Mankading) incidence in IPL is really admirable. I totally support your action when the bats man tried to take undue advantage . I love and like the way you respect and reciprocate with the people at the other end. Please keep on doing this. God bless you with many more achievements and mile stones ahead.
Ash, Sunny took me to 70s n 80s which I never seen. Beautiful.
Today's Kids are trolling sunny sir because they dont know how great he is .....Respect to Sunny Sir
Enjoying your podcasts Anna.

SG -- Sunny Gavaskar
Also the diamond emblem!
Right forefinger -- Andy Roberts, but with the same injured fingered he scored an attacking 40+(dont remember exactly) at Ahmedabad, where he used his first UPPER CUT.!
Ashwin Sir's listening skill is amazing! Brilliant questions and answers👌👌
Wow I didn't realise they had nominated Ashwin for men's player of the decade.
Huge achievement man. All the best.
Listening to Gavaskar baby story, it gives a scary feeling thinking about how many children would have ended up in wrong family.
Interview Kapil Paaji
The master batsman is equally wonderful to listen to as much as is batting was! :)

Sunil Gavaskar was the first superstar of Indian Cricket. He is the pioneer of modern cricket.
SG is really passionate . Even at this age, he looks as excited as a teenager.
I was very fortunate to have watched Gavaskar during my youth. Always a pleasure to listen to his analysis. Excellent interview.
I am ardent fan of sunny....What a wonderful and relaxed stance that sunny had.I tried to amulate my batting by watching him in t v...Always behind the ball. As you said he is the real and original Little Master.May God bless him and give him good health.
ASHWIN anna plz interview rishabh pant and deepak chahar plz
What about kedar jadav
This is easily one of the best by you Ashwin. A fantastic conversation with one of India's proudest cricketing sons. And his thought processes are so crystal clear about the game and how it should be played. It was very clear that this was an interview by not just a fanboy - it was more like a Guru-Sishya conversation. I was glad to hear about Gavaskar's opinion on the non-striker run out and I agree with him that the usage of Mankad's name with that dismissal should be stopped. Wonderful and thank you so much for doing this interview.
Ashwin...a very intelligent conversation.. so refreshing..wonder how a chat with the spinning greats like Bedi, Prasanna and Chandra would be!! Get it done for us....only authentic players can delight us !!
Pleasure to listen .. interview with Virender Sehwag please 🙌
So proud of you Ashwin Sir. Getting Sunil Gavaskar sir to share his thoughts. Thanks. I loved this episode.
Simply amazing !! Sunil Gavaskar's insights on the game are mind blowing. Such a GOAT cricketer!!
Ashwin , as usual very good choice of questions and a great interview !!
