@Ashwin - I love these segments with Harsha Bhogle. Splitting the era perfectly and the insights are nothing but great and informative. And this particular episode that I was just literally waiting for just made me more happier. I mean you can see my name and the display pic and you would understand why. Again not to miss out on the other greats they spoke about. But for me as an youngster the only entertainment, love, aim, hobby everything was cricket. And I started thinking myself as if I am Sachin Tendulkar when I went out to play. These are gully cricket or the ground cricket with tennis ball I always acted like Sachin the Master. I bowled like him batted like him, tried only getting bats with MRF in the sign. All those memories are as fresh as Ashwin's smile in this episode when he heard Harsha saying Sharjah storm innings. I mean I feel the fans have a come long way now and they try to prove their Star player is better than the other. But I lived and witnessed an era wherein no one was comparing Sachin Tendulkar with anyone. Even the foreign media or players or legends. You always heard we are witnessing one of the greatest batsman of all time. The only one time Sachin was ever compared was to Sir Don Brandman. Not by us Indians but by the great man himself and the rest of the Aussies. I mean, every moment I hear is name, I could feel tears rolling up my eyes, the goosebumps of knowing what he had done for the game of cricket in India. I am 42 now but no wonder we call Sachin Tendulkar is an emotion. Thank you so much Ashiwin for these wonderful moments to cherish and congratulations on your selection to the World Cup squad. Keep inspiring. Sachiiiiinnnnn.....Sachin.......

However with the time constraints can't cover all three world cups in the short time span.

Those who followed the 90s know what Sachin meant. No one can reach that level. Not Dhoni nor Kohli nor Gill, because its simply impossible. If Sachin gets out, we switched off our TV. Almost every win in the 90s was due to him. Ganguly and Dravid came later and had a few good moments in the 90s, but Tendulkar was still India's only real hope. So often it was Tendulkar against the 11 opposition players and his own teammates. Despite not being a great captain, Sachin in my opinion is the most important player that India ever had.

1999 WC was also Rahul Dravid's world cup from an Indian cricket fan perspective. Lot of people often forget what he did in 1999 WC

99 was the emergence of Dravid the ODI batter. He wasn't regarded much as an ODI batsman before this but he started reinventing himself with the 99 world cup.

@@rrao7963 Obviously there are innings before 99 in which Dravid played well, but Dravid was not consistently picked for ODI matches until 99 world cup. After that is when he became a permanent member of the side and an integral part of the middle order.
