I wish rappers would go back to rapping like this. I listen this song everyday on my way to work. Busy Bee holding and rocking that microphone stand does it for me. Love it!
Busy Bee was the greatest crowd pleasers in the world, also little Rodney Cee was the funky four plus one, in those days it was all about the street, and having fun, old school rules!
Busy Bee is one of the greatest old school singers on the planet. He is very powerful with lyrics that are meant to bring the mood to the world. Busy Bee didn't want his songs to talk about things that cause sadness or anger.Rodney Cee did great and must feel lucky to be singing alongside Busy Bee.
This here is the culture at it's finest!! HIP-HOP culture!! You could literally go to a jam, yes I said JAM, and you would feel good about going!! Being a part of something big!! 👊🏽🎤🎛💯
Wouldn't be so sure. Something would always develop anyway, maybe with some delay, maybe a bit differently. For example would you think there would be no air planes if the Wright brothers wouldn't exist? Mixing, sampling and then talking over it is something that would have been used eventually anyway. Scratching was "discovered" by accident and if it didn't happen to Theodore, it would have happened later to some other dude etc. That's not to shoot down these legends, but all this nostalgia is sometimes unfair towards later generations. I mean, by your logic there would have been no Busy Bee without all the soul and funk artists they sampled.
You saying that like early hip hop never talked about street stuff though. I love how people push the narrative like each thing was super peaceful and everyone held hands.
When it came to rap I was one of the best shockin rockin off south east and west I'm like mickey mouse and the sun of Sam when I rock the house don't give a damn I LOVE THAT PART TRUE HIP HOP LEGENDS IN IT'S PUREST FORM
Back then HIP HOP was everything so vibrant in the early 80s Runnin the streets I just hated the fact that I had my mom's worried about me it was like the streets was literally calling me LONNIE COME OUT TO PLAAYAAY!!! would come home and be glad to let her know I was ok didn't have cellphones back then
Busy Bee, the Harlem flashy guy, and Rodney Cee was the hard G'd up kat... This is the essence for all you knuckleheads that don't know... You feel the authenticity when watching the movie. 82'! the year of the air force 1 sneaker! The year Doc J had krazy hangtime and all that... Aaaaah!
1982. I was rocking Jordache jeans, Olde English iron on lettering, on my sweater, Playboy shoes, and playing high post, chilly most, from coast to coast! BX life...
greets from Germany guys! Damn, grown up with the Sound of Grandmaster Flash and Busy Bee, then Run DMC later and Wu-Tang Clan and so on!.... Hip Hop for live! And as i saw the movie "Wild Style" then later - it needed a lil longer to get to Germany here - and saw what he painted with a Can, i was realy flashed!... never saw anything else bfore but i thought: Man, thats what u want! So i took a can, searched for a place to practice... and what can i say, im still a writer till now...
for me one off the best exempel for real rap history from the past , there was a time without comercial sale out , no lps or singels only live raps , peace to the real rapper from the past it dosent mather they big or local ,
Some of most funky shit. The beat, flow and underground/warehouse party feel. The essense of the genre unlike the commercial crap today, where the primary is about twerking, money Ladies, gansta and drinking Cristal 😉
I sometimes daydream about being born 10 years earlier and in the states so I could have sneaked in some of these events, attended block parties and so. Me, being a white boy, would get the looks and maybe they would deny entry initially but I would just express how much I love the music and adore the culture and that I would not disturb anyone, just enjoying everything silently. Eventually they would first ignore and then accept me, not as one of their own, more like a mascot thing. I would make a few friends and they would show me around all the secret places and gatherings. And I would try to help them whenever they would have problems in the white world. HipHop is - or was back then - love and passion and always transcended racial issues, at least at the core.
I've lost count of how many times I have watched this movie. RC is the better rapper here and more articulate. BB is good, but by far a better showman. I often wonder if these guys reherse and practice their lyrics or do they just hink it up on the fly.
BON, là on y est!!! voix un peu canardeuse de Starski mais le sample derriere flingue au moins au tant que les cold crush a venir!!! la creme du rap newyorker et un film prafait!! leçon d'histoire!!! important.

the first 30 seconds of busy bee's rap always gives me goose bumps on my skin. so stylish!
I was about 7-8 years old when hip hop started peaking and I'm 51 now!
"Hey Sucka Nikka, whoever u Are..." HARD BODY!!!!!!!!!!
Lil Rodney Cee's flow and lyrics are tight as a 40-year old virgin
"I was too hot to handle too cold to hold/ because MC stands for mic control." Rodney Cee

@Sherrieff Hammond I don’t believe you. There was plenty of violence. And crack was just beginning to hit the stage. Let’s not exaggerate.

Busy Bee turned it out in Live Convention '82... Never take the local 😅!
There would be no biggie Nas 2 pac or jay z without these legends
Can't remember which one....but one of those old school hip hop movies had a young Jay Z popping in the crowd.

Hip hop always had fights and some threat of violence remember it came from gang culture it had crews that they were affiliated with for protection 💯
