- After an investigation, Los Angeles Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani was cleared and declared a victim in the gambling allegations involving his former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara. United States Attorney Martin Estrada, IRS Criminal Investigation Special Agent in Charge Tyler Hatcher and Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Eddy Wang spoke at a conference, revealing their evidence and allegations against Mizuhara.

Shohei used to get an allowance from his parents when he played in Japan. It was $1000 / month and didn't even spend it.
The haters and conspiracy theorists will continue to level baseless accusations at Ohtani no matter what. They don't care about the facts at all.
Like I said, they're just salty that Shohei wanted to stay in SoCal and only the Dodgers could afford him...
It is terrible. The person whom Ohtani trusted 100% took advantages of Ohtani's trust and took control of everything of Ohtani's life, which has been damaged severely Ohtani's reputation and integrity.
But by now many Japanese people have discovered many lies of Mizuhara, not only this gambling problem but also he lied about this college record and other past history.
I guess you're going on the route that he is a total victim. A lot of questions, that will never be answered. I still don't want to believe he was that aloof over his finances. Nobody will be able to prove it is not a cover-up. So be it. There will always be an asterisk by his name because of this. Shame on him for not being better informed and or protected.

You have never "heard all the answers" that you wanted to hear, but that is how the investigations are conducted. In the Complaint as filed to the Federal District Court, the US Attorney's Office examined, investigated, about 40,000 records of exchanges of communications, bank records, text messages between Mizuhara and bank, Mizuhara and Bowyer, and Mizuhara and Ohtani, and with others, for the "Relevant period" from 2021 to Jan. 2024. I am sure that you will find "the answers" that you wanted to hear inside the Complaints. Other than the bank fraud case, Mizuhara is still under investigations by IRS and NHTSA for other different matters that involve Bowyer and international terrorist or cartel organizations. SHAME ON YOU! Ignorance can't be an excuse for your bullish comment.

It is obvious that you haven't read even a line from this Complaint, because if you did, you would never say "a lot of quetions" - Do you think that your questions are not answered by the DOJ, FBI prosecutors, investigators, liguist experts, forensic analysts, IRS Criminal Investigators, NHTSA Anti-Terrorist Team? Ohtani's mistake is forgetting that Japanese-American are not the same as Japanese people. Ippei is raised and educated in the US.
I am from Japan living in US for 30 years and unfortunately I would have to agree. I have seen many of these hustlers with no shame who are proficient in English (not limited to Japanese-Americans but Japanese who have lived here a long time) prey on new comers from Japan.
