  • Watch me play through Thatgamecompany's Journey (PS4) for the first time. I went into this game with little to no knowledge the game's premise and gameplay. I laugh, smile a ton, and cry many happy tears.

Yup, the game is still good to play.
Played it a month ago for the first time. Not blind, but still found new and old people.

This game came to me at a time that I really needed it so it hit me all that much harder. So beautiful. Also the song that plays at the end is about different heroes journeys sung in the native language of the story.

I completely agree. Playing it at a time during the worst of the pandemic, and not being able to physically go anywhere, it was so nice to literally go on this journey with another person around the world. Never actually speaking to them, but still connecting. Getting lost in this world, but still finding our way. It was such a beautiful adventure, and really helps to reflect how much better life is when going through it with another person. Thanks for watching!

That was just one of my favorite reactions to this game. Felt so good watching someone truly appreciate the experience of this game.

Thanks for the kind words! It's still a gaming experience I think about often. Few games have ever evoked such emotion in me. Journey is definitely something special, even 10 years after release. Thanks for watching!

I can't think of a game that has ever aged so well, and that I think will continue to do so. It's so beautiful, and so touching. Hard to believe it's a PS3 game.

Agreed. Been playing the game for the last ten years and it never ceases to send me back in the feels. An absolute masterpiece of a game.

Everybody takes the same path, but everyone's journey is a little different than each other's. Yours was special and interesting because you had a companion from early on that stuck close to you til the end. Like real life, many go through the journey completey alone and never find someone. So your journey was lucky and interesting.

You got lucky, some have to play again to unlock the trophy for ending the game with someone. Beautiful game, and yes you do develop a bond with those you travel with.
I have played it multiple times now, and guiding other through the game, showing them little secrets and teaching them how to avoid traps is another experience.

I don't even know what to say. THANK YOU. Thank you for providing time stamps for my playthrough. I have yet to play this game again after my experience here. I don't have intentions of playing it again any time soon. I'm excited to recommend this game to my friends and have the opportunity to watch them play and experience this game for the first time. It truly is something special. Thanks again!

This game has no dialogue, but the emotion they managed to give me when i played this was amazing. I never experienced this much emotion playing a game before.
the losing of a friend you made along the way, someone you’ve never met before and only communicate through sounds. that companion journeying with me and staying me all throughout, even as i fell of the mid way bridge twice and then ending it all together. A beautiful friendship for the journey, happiness at the end and yet also a slight sadness for never knowing who this friend was and the knowledge you’ll never know.
It was just great, especially for the length of the game. Loved it.
Your gameplay brought me right back to that moment, beautiful man.

Late to the party but your commentary is so nice. You’re super chill and also very curious and receptive to the game so it’s a joy to watch you. And your voice has kind of an ASMR quality that fits the game 😂 I hope to see you more playing more often!

I knew Journey existed since its release, but only earlier this year I played it for the first time, and I'm in love with this game. I'm often playing it and often watching streams of people playing it. Your reactions were great. I find it funny that your fellow wayfarer didn't exactly journey with you. He was often a few steps ahead, chirping as if saying "c'mon pal, c'mon! what are you waiting for?". Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Happy 2023!

Possibly best soundtrack for a video game ever. As of now it’s been the only video game soundtrack to be nominated for a Grammy

As many others have said, by far my favorite Journey Let's Play. You're good at the game and you understand a lot of the mechanics right off the bat with very little trial and error, plus you follow the intended path very well. Even besides that, your own commentary was very respectful, insightful, pleasant, and in keeping with the atmosphere; no silly yelling or cheap streamer jokes being cracked and ruining the mood. Never a doubt in my mind that you really cared about trying to see what the game had to say. And your partner was lovely as well. Great that you got a fellow newbie. As much as it's neat to be paired with a veteran player, it's great to see you two exploring everything for the first time and having a purer experience in that way--and both of you were so, so elegant.

THANK YOU for such kind words! As I've responded to others, Journey is game I keep thinking about and have such a lovely memory with now playing. I'm just so thankful that my experience playing it can bring others a smile, especially folks like yourself that I presume have a similar fondness for the game. Thanks for checking out my video and taking the time to leave such a wonderful comment ☺

@@RE-LOOIE Of course! I just felt like I had to say something; you're the best Let's Player I've seen run through this game. I return every once in a while just because your commentary is so chill and insightful.
And I am a bit of an old-timer with this game, haha. I played Journey when it released to the PS3 in 2012 and I've been consistently obsessed since over these past 10 years. No joke, it comes up again and again in my mind in a lot of things I do in life, especially ruminating on the joyfulness of existing, which itself is probably something I do because of this game. Sounds sappy as hell, but it's true! So it's great to share the love of this experience.
I also want to mention that I found this because the composer for this game's music, Austin Wintory, remastered the soundtrack with the London Symphonic Orchestra. The whole thing is on UA-cam with commentary from him. Worth looking at. :]

Wow...I've watched a LOT of Journey blind playthroughs (pretty much every single one on UA-cam actually, because as you said once you've played it all you want to do then is watch other people have the first time experience too), and this was one of my favourites :) Loved your reactions...this game makes you feel all of the things (wonder, joy, fear, sadness...)

Very nice comments on one of the most emotional gaming experience ever. « Apotheosis » the soundtrack while ascending the first final level is incredible. It’s very difficult to explain what I felt while finishing it.

I know I'm crazy late, but I just finished playing this game and immediately ran to see who else has played it and their reactions.
Anyway, if you like games like this one, Thatgamecompany actually made another game like this called Sky:Children Of The Light. It's got the same moral and a few of the same mechanics/level designs, but it's an equally beautiful, if not more beautiful, game.
