Fpv has also kept me clean. I'm 12 years sober from my vice, heroin and opiates and drinking 24/7 I have smoked a little herb here and there (less than once a month) just when we sometimes go camping. The first 5 years I LIVED in a gym. 110% gym rat. Then I got a better job that required more time, I bought a house, I now have a kid. But FPV 5 years ago had me HOOKED. It kept me from thinking about drugs or drinking. If I was stressed to my usual relapse point, I'd put my headphones on and go fly my micromotorwarehouse brushed fpv drone. Then I found bardwell...its been a blast ever since. I recently took a year off of fpv, did a lot of fishing (redfish, sheephead, snook, flounder, sea trout, snapper) and enjoyed my time with my new baby boy. I can't begin to tell you how important fpv is to my life. I recently got a gig with an old boss who does multi million dollar landscape designs and wants me to do some fly through of the property beforehand after for his website. Can't believe it's come this far

@@parkourguy5903 I'm one too. It's crazy, what we can build around ourselves, when we focus every day. It feels so good to be building constructive things, and not wasting life digging that hole to nowhere.

Shorts is a good way to advertise your channel.
The secret to Shorts is disable notifications on your shorts.
Nobody clicks shorts notifications. So if you send out notifications and nobody clicks, the algo penalizes you
Don't use notifications. Your target audience is people who've never subbed.

Data that I have seen does not bear this out. Conversion rates of shorts-viewers to long-form viewers is abysmal. Like, 0.01% or lower. People who discover you via shorts generally want to see you make shorts content. People who watch your long-form content generally discover you through the regular YT interface.
Like, speaking for myself, I have never gone from Shorts content to Long Form content. When I start watching Shorts, I just flip through shorts until I'm done and then go do something else. When I go to YT app or browser, I scroll through long form content or look up something specific until I'm done. My shorts algorithm contains completely different creators and types of content from my main YT long-form algorithm.

@@JoshuaBardwell that all depends on your shorts content. It might be more difficult for a niche hobby topic like this, to find something that reels in new people. But that's how most creators are using shorts these days: to find new subs, not to appeal to existing ones.
