Let me join the. Chorus, great to have you back. As a psychologist, I have often told patients that the best way to understand life is to work on a British sports car; nothing is easy, but if you stick with, you will succeed.
I think this is my favorite John Twist video. From the introduction about his struggles with the transmission mount all the way to the struggles with the seat. But the icing on the cake was customer imitation! Ha ha ha! I feel like John Twist is now a friend of mine.
7:00 John, I’m reluctant to tell an expert how to do something but… You have one bolt in. Turn the seat on it’s side so that the fastened bolt is on the table, 13:59 gravity will work more in your favor. Been there, done that. I credit you and your channel for helping me resurrect my late brother-in-law’s 79 roadster. 🙏🏻
Great to see you back. I did my 77 B seats this winter It was very satisfying to see you struggle like I did! Thanks for all the help you have giver given me over the years. Stay safe.
Yep, already broke a couple of those seat recline levers on my Midget. Didn't want to remove the seat cover, so just grabbed adjuster shaft with some vise grips and worked them back and forth until they moved easier. Glad to see your videos again.
Cracked off a seat rake last year. A pair of needle nosed vice grips is now a substitute. Was not pleasant on the hand but no cut thankfully. My seats have never been stripped down. Finding a replacement handle is my next purchase!
I agree that gearbox mount is a devil. Like you I finally gave up and enlisted my son with thinner fingers to get those nuts on. I even had to bend a small spanner to get it done. One of the worst jobs on the B. I hope I never have to do it again.
I had to laugh about the comment of not being able to get big hands in small places on LBC. When working on 1970s Japanese cars, I had to repeatedly ask my youngest sister to reach in/down/over/through to put a wrench/socket on a bolt. Later she had to put the bolt back in and put the wrench/socket on the bolt. The other problem was a lot of sharp sheet metal under the hood.
Hi John, Shawn & Joe here, Wondering if we could ask where you sent your seats out to have them reupholstered? Course we live in Good ole Marshall Michigan, same town as you did. I'm struggling on how to do them right. I have the whole kit and most everything we need. Want to make sure there done right. Great video by the way.
I have done enough engine swaps to know that a 70+ years old shouldn’t be doing engine swaps. The overdrive sitting in the corner has been reminding me about crossmembers for over two years. Now that I have gotten rid of the Stromberg and replaced it with two very nice SUs (not a Webber) the overdrive is next on the list. And yes I just might ask one of my nimble finger children for help. After all it will belong to them eventually.

Outstanding video and presentation. Welcome back.

Now I know why that handle is broken on my passenger seat. Glad to see you back making videos again.

I'm glad you mentioned that crossmember - I swapped mine at home, it took hours and hours.

Very helpful thank you 😊 🙏 ☺

The 23 year old scar on my right thumb will always remind me of my old 77 B.
Wish I lived closer. Like to have you work on my 79 MGB.
Have you joined your local MG club? I’m a member of my local chapter. I guarantee you’ll meet someone who can help.

For nuts & bolts go to ACE. Always the best selection.

Your welcome to text me too if you want! Your daughter's car is the same color as ours, her name is blueberry.
Beautiful car John. I told my grandson I'd pick him up from school when we're done.

Phillips screws date to about the 1930s, and MGAs use Pozidrive. 🤓
The seats in my old 73 look like a dogs breakfast, someday I will do them, if I live long enough.
Like frustration videos.
What a pain in the neck. I think I would have also tried laying it on its side and work above the hole. But thats just me. 🙃
