      You know, you're probably right. Somehow, she just manages to make it interesting, even when she's just cutting up some foam board.. That's one of the reasons I love her videos so much. Always interesting, even if we're just watching paint dry. (which we do a lot.. hehe)

    Aw thank you so much for sharing my book and dolls. It made me feel emotional to get to see all the dolls on your hill 🖤 I can’t wait to see the miniature model with all the adorable houses people are sending!!!!
    So excited that you’re going to add Delia’s wacky jutting porch! I always loved that porch. I NEVER noticed the stripes on the foundation before!!!! It’s so fun seeing all these little details you include that I never even saw before.

    Very nice, Ara. I think that your foam brick technique looks fantastic. Jonni's Mache recipe is really great and so strong, I've used it on a couple of projects, but by no means did I ever use nearly as much as you did. Your Beetlejuice house is HUGE!
    p.s. I find that using a jig saw with a fine-tooth blade makes easy and clean cuts in XPS foam. It doesn't tear the edges at all. That's how I cut all of my larger pieces.

    some tips from working on model train layouts w/ my dad: to make more detailed grass you can buy flocking from most hobby stores in the model train section. you just spray down with a mixture of glue and water, then sprinkle the flocking on.
    you can also find foliage in the same section, they'd make great shrubs and such!
    you'd have the best luck with things in O scale, which is 1:48, or G scale (anything bigger than O)

      I did! I already have the static grass applicator and will be testing it out on this project as soon as I can! I think it will give it a realistic look. I hope😊

    The foundation is looking amazing. I can't wait to see the direction that this goes in. I finally bit the bullet and started the cottage again. I'm working on the living room, I'm just a messy crafter so need to work out how to fix my mistakes.

    The wash and dry brush was a great idea, it pulled it together, I was actually thinking just before you did that, that it was really contrasting and odd, but you fixed it so wonderfully. the garage is a great idea too.

    I see that Stormy was equally as helpful to you as my pets are to me. They are really good at showing me where the weaknesses are in my structural design. XD I love the base and I think you're right about ageing the white stone, it was really bright before and I think it would have been like neon against everything else. Looking forward to the next set of ideas you give me that I don't have time to add to my long, long list of projects. XD

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  2 роки тому

      Haha yes! Always so helpful! 🐶 I am so glad you agree with the color of the stone. I do think it would have been a bit too bright but its so hard to know until the house has all it's siding and roofing! Thank you BJ!

    I never even noticed that the base of the house was black and white striped! Well done! I do crazy cakes and this is how we get the weird and fun shapes lol. I’m pretty confident you could take on crazy cake making 😂 seriously though…you made that completely from scratch and it’s 💯 custom…well done!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️

      @BentleyHouseMinis  2 роки тому +1

      I don't know about that lol.... every time I have made any 'decorative' type dessert I have always wished I could use some actual glue. Nothing ever seems to stick together for me in food form😄 Thank you so much Jenny!!

    Looks fabulous! I enjoyed the toilet paper clay method, I’ll try that! This was a great step that seemed like a big one, which is a great feeling.
    Oh and I agree on the foam wire cutter vs a blade, it’s definitely good for sculpting and taking large chunks off but detailed work is easier with a blade, it also seems like the wire burns off too much and uneven. It’s funny I’ve never had a vehicle big enough to get the foam home without cutting it 🤦🏼‍♀️

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  2 роки тому

      That toilet paper clay has been a life saver in many big projects so I highly suggest it! Good to know I am not alone in my preference of the blade. It was wobbling all over the place lol!

    Your always such a joy to watch. I got a giggle out of you saying something about being an extra gluer. Instantly brought me back to the Adam's House when you said permanently gluing items down made you nervous. Lol yup been falling you for a bit now. As always it was fun Checking in with you!!

      Lol! I remember that! When I know its something I want to glue I make sure it will never come unstuck again😄 When I am not so sure I want options. Its the crafters dilemma I think! I am so glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you Kelly!

    what you can do to make strait(ish) cuts with one of those cutters is clamp a metal ruler (or any other strait bit of metal) to the piece and use that as a guide

    I went to my local coffee shop where I eat frequently and they know me and got as many egg cartons as I wanted. (I now have a life time supply because they just throw them out.) Plus there are egg flats rather than the kind we get at the grocery store, so they are a bit easier to cut and work with--a bit. Still lots of cutting. Just an idea and it fits with our reuse theme.
