Keeping Dwarf and Large Seahorses Together in the Same Aquarium

Theoretically, these two extreme sized seahorses could be kept together in the same aquarium, but they do best with living conditions that are optimal for their size.

Do you use a protein skimmer on dwarf seahorse aquarium? I’m thinking it isn’t necessary for the dwarf seahorses. Thank you

I do not use a protein skimmer on my dwarf tank. Instead, I do small water changes every day, which helps remove some of the organic waste. I have a simple HOB power filter for my set-up. However, if I had a sump, I would seriously consider using a skimmer in the sump.

@@cowfishpro thank you for your reply. I see a sump and looks too complicated for me to set up. The plumbing for a sump looks very hard to setup.

@@cowfishpro I did see a small nano protein skimmer that fits inside the tank. But I heard that the bubbles it makes is bad for the seahorses when skimmer is out within the tank itself.

@@MegaMaddydog A sump can be as simple or complicated as one makes it. The actual flow idea is simple. But I agree that selecting the correct size pieces so that everything fits together well and offers the perfect flow rate can be tricky.
