News of the Times Episode 287 | 1907
It is 1907 Croydon, South London and wealthy widow Mrs Blume has unexpectedly died a few weeks after taking in her new lodger. Even more surprisingly, she has left her considerable estate to the same new lodger. The daughter, who has been utterly cut out of her mother’s will and had seen her four days before her death, is suspicious and contests the will.
And from here, a tragic tale of more deaths unfolds as the lodger scrambles to cover his tracks. Poisoned stout, wrong victims and masonic pleas for help are all part of the dark tableau of the Croydon Killer in today’s episode of Sinister Saturdays.

Yes, we thought so too! And also not a very nice man! 😈There were some unsubstantiated tales of a mysterious death of one of his children as well as stories of his very bad treatment of his wife.The whole marraige proposal thing was one way, we guess, of trying to hang on to what he had stolen...🤔

Yes, well said1👍 She was supposed to have been a lovely lady and well known in the street. The poor Becks! It is a painful way to die. And really, his target was never touched. There were stories of another mysterious death of one of his children, but we could find no proper facts about this - only speculation. Alos stories of wife beating. Just a bad guy in general. 😈

Thank you! 🙏 he was a bt of poor serial killer, wasn't he? Got the first target, but missed the others and killed two, almost three, others by mistake! There was no chance at all of a reprieve at the time, although the UK had moved away from executions. Thank you kindly for your support!🪄🙌

Yes, he was a different type of serial killer altogether wasn't he? There had not been an execution for amny years at the time, but there was no question about execution for him. 🤔
