Went through Army Basic Training at FT. Jackson in '92. I can't believe how different it looks from when I was there. Coed training, pull ups etc. The PT uniform was grey sweats and shirts. I could run a 7 minute mile by graduation day.
I enlisted in the US Army on Sep. 11, 1940 at Fort Jackson was in Company L, 13th infantry, 8th division. We saw much action in the European Theater in WWII I was born in 1921.
AndyRips How long ago were you there? I went to Jackson in late 2017, we did do ten pullups every once in a while during the "climbing drill" and some of the trainees who had airborne contracts did do some pullups once in a while before we entered the dfac. But I was surprised to see that the Army in the modern day, doesn't do many pullups not only in BCT but beyond.
2:09 reminds me of so much BCT!! Especially when this one guy name Dunken instead of saying “Use the pads, Drill Sergeant”. He actually kept saying “Use the pads, Mother-effer! Use the pads!”. 😆
I did only when we were out on our Field training exercises. I was absolutely pissed when I realized that we were doing fucking pt right after waking and getting out of our hastys with only 30 minites of sleep. God I hope I won't ever have to wear soaking wet dirty ocp's like that again.
By the end of the 10 mile ruck march after the 4 night FTX I was so drenched in sweat that you could almost squeeze my OCP's and see the sweat come out. I smelled like death. My feet were blistered as hell and my ass was chafing bad. I could barely walk because my ass and my feet were killing me. It took me a week to recover from that FTX.
I really need to work on pull-ups. I was doing 18 in college. That was about 6 years ago. Now I can barely do one. I'm pretty worried for basic training.
Spawn and Batman they aren't a graded excersise in basic. They just make you do it. Your graded for running 3 mile, pushups and sit ups. So I wouldn't worry about pull ups. You'll get it in basic. But in the meantime, go do the pt test everyday and do the assisted pull up machine at the gym
No your right sorry i meant 2 miles. And then push ups and sit ups. So just go practice that everyday and youll be solid. Really its not hard. Just dont give up on yourself.
Most of this stuff I was doing at a young age but I'ma have to retrain cause I let my body go but this slight work the only problem I might have is getting yelled at
There so weak today so different then when I went to basic training in 1984 soliders are so weak today compared to us back then I'm 54 years old and still continue to go to the the gym have been physically fit most of my life by the grace of God l love the lord
Did my basic there in the 80's. Unrecognizable to what I'm watching here. The co-ed thing I don't get. Everybody trains and tests together but have different requirements? Some things the females were good at like sit up, but running and carrying a load much different.
Defender if you're that worried about it then contact a commander and have them report the posts. There's a .01% chance the posts would be reported to youtube and deleted and a 99.99% chance that whoever got the report would laugh themselves into a coma over the stupidity of someone whining about people posting ship dates on youtube.
I remember this one while I was in Ft. Benning, I really cant recall the name of it but every morning we had 2 hours of PT before breakfast and the pull up bars where the last of the exercises. Fun times,
Pull ups are not in the APFT. These prt drills (climbing drills) are meant to help build upper body and core strength to get these privates in shape and able to pass the APFT. These and 4 for the core are great PRT drills.

Looks like only her neck is moving.
I was there in 1995, Delta 2/39 "wardogs". My how things have changed! This is the most relaxing PT session I have ever seen.

Coleman Allen ECHO 2-13 "40 ROUNDS" Battle

What platoon? I was 1st platoon
WickedNewb 2nd
Coleman Allen í want to know what u do after u finish everything??
these young people have a lot of courage ,god bless them all
They letting them run on a paved track? They made me run on a clay dirt track because they said it adds a minute to the required run time lol.
Jieddo was that in benning?
I ran on a paved track in 1985. Any runner, or other athlete will tell you it adds nothing, so shovel the hardass act somewhere else hero.
This was all a breeze. after 2 months the P.T test is a snap.

when i went thru basic at Jackson in 62 we ran in fatigues and boots ......sometimes with m1 at port arms ...
I'm 57 and this looks like good I'm used to exercising too bad I'm too old to join
served Fort Jackson back in '94 and it was non of this training back then! I never did any pull ups on bars, or bad women mixed in with men...
What?? There’s no time to “fuck like rabbits.”
The shots don’t keep you from wanting to either.
I was there in 94 too
We like it here, we love it here, we finally found a home. Hooah!
That’s one thing that made me scratch my head about basic how we didn’t do a single pull up at basic. Think it should be a must.

Damn, I'm glad they never made us conduct PRT in our OCP's
