I went to a Church of Christ School. It worked a bit different, they came in with a card on one side it had Imagine lyrics by John Lennon, they proceeded to tell us how he was a Godless communist...which we had no clue what that even meant and were bored, cause teh song was lame also. Then they flipped the card and there in full glory was a picture of KISS decked out and they said it stood for Knights in Satans Service, and how we were NOT to listen to them. YESSSS!!!!!! YOU FINALLY GOT HERE!!!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING AND WAITING FOR THIS!!!! RAINBOW or Deep Purple Jr, if you wish LOL This is one of my favorite rock bands that never get any credit or recognition. Whenever people do reactions to Rainbow it's always the same songs, Kill the King, Mistreated or like you guys did, Stargzer and now Man on the Silver Mountain (My fav Dio sung rainbow song). All fantastically amazing songs but there's so much more to Rainbow than Dio. My favorite Rainbow singer only did one album with them and that was Graham Bonnet. Graham has a real rock singers voice. This was between Dio's pension for the Medieval and Turner's pension for the commercial. This was a TRUE rock album!!! One song you might have heard is Since You've Been Gone A killer killer tune but not the one I'll suggest because others have done reactions to it before. NOW this is up to you Lex!!! You think Rainbow hasn't gotten their due either? Do something about it and bring these 2 or 3 songs to the public's attention like they deserve to be!!! If you don't do it I don't think anyone ever will..... My first choice has to be....... Eyes of the World: ua-cam.com/video/O8FcrH1lDeY/v-deo.html This song is just so amazingly powerful. I get full body goosebumps when I hear it, EVERYTIME. The way Bonnet belts this out is so thrilling it's just stunning. Next.... Lost in Hollywood: ua-cam.com/video/mRLHHftZEJA/v-deo.html The driving tempo along with Bonnet just killing the vocals in this will blow you away. And lastly but not worst.... No Time to Lose: ua-cam.com/video/lwCsMQWkN3g/v-deo.html Possible Bonnet's best vocal on this album. The whole album is just insane. There's not a bad cut on it and no one ever does any songs from it besides Since You've Been Gone. I hope and prey you remedy the injustice that's been put on this band and this album. Let and make the people listen and know the name RAINBOW!!!!! Peace
Yrs ago my friends&I all had this song qued up in our cars&would listen to this song cranked high on way to work, to wake us up on days we're hung over or tired.
'Light in the Black' is a song by Rainbow that would be a great reaction🤘 Thank you Brad & Lex for all of your Rock, Metal and Alternative reactions🤘🤘🤘
Rainbow is one of my favorite bands and yes, they don't get the love they deserve. Such a great band with Dio (vocals), Blackmore (guitar), then later joined by Cozy Powell on drums...a true super group. Check out live footage from the 1977 Munich concert with songs like "Mistreated", "Catch the Rainbow", "Long Live Rock and Roll", "Kill the King", "16th Century Greensleeves", "Still I'm Sad" and this song "Man on the Silver Mountain". Then you will can appreciate how good this group really was.
They don't get the love because Ritchie broke up the band, forcing Dio and Cozy out with his BS. After that they became a pop rock band , and a total waste of time. Sad really. Notice every song you stated was Dio/Cozy era.
@@toddstevens13 Dio era was the best, no doubt, but the following years with Bonnet, Lynn, and White had some great songs as well, I won't discount that. Ritchie wanted to sell records and that's what he needed to do. However I see it as a blessing to have Dio keep Black Sabbath alive and have some great years with his own band. I would have loved to see last Dio era stay together for a few more years to see what masterpieces they could have done.
@@jalkabre5904 Indeed Ritchie sold out, which is his right and the real musicians, as obviously Ritchie at that point lost his way as a musician, Dio and Cozy just would not put up with the Pablum Ritchie pretended was up to his previous level. That is ok, but I disappeared when Dio and Cozy did, after that it became laughable, to me. I mean Since You Were Gone vs Man On The Silver Mountain or anything from Rising, really? We can agree to disagree and I respect you still found it enjoyable. I was a Pre-Perry Journey fan also, and stopped after Gregg left, so that is where I am coming from. Neither way is right nor wrong, just different.
Dio, one of the best singers, ever, period! The song( 🌈 rainbow in the dark), by Dio, is amazing 🤩!, Would make a good reaction video! Keep Dio, coming!
Saw Rainbow soon after they formed, when Ritchie left Deep Purple, warming up for Judas Priest. This song was the first introduction of Ronnie James Dio to a lot of people. A very young Def Leppard was also on the bill.
Would love to see the ticket stub. The timeframe with the bands mentioned doesn't really match up...by the time Judas Priest signed with CBS in 1977 (Sin After Sin), they finally stopped starving and went on a real (kind of) tour...Rainbow was a headliner from the beginning (1975) and was about to release their 3rd album (their Live in Munich 1977 album was later made into a DVD)...Def Leppard was just forming in 1977 and the boys were fresh out of high school...their first album was in 1980, so I can't see how they'd be on a bill with either JP or Rainbow before that time...there are some references of Def Leppard playing a gig with Judas Priest/Scorpions in 1980 and they were a warm up band for JP for the last part of their 1981 tour...the only Rainbow/JP reference I could find was Monster of Rock in 1980, but that was all headliners.
@@grobin3745 Wish I still had it. Don't know what to tell you other than I saw Rainbow and DL, along with 2 other forgotten bands, open for JP at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, 77 or 78.
The '70's & '80's were an incredible time to grow up... so much great music, so much progress on nearly every front... I wish I could go back and stay in that time period forever... I would give up all the "modern tech" for the opportunity....
The guitar was really good. Yes, that is Richie Blackmore and the band was his band after leaving Deep Purple. For a time the band was known as Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow. I have their first couple of LPs.
Brad, your analysis on Dio and the market kind of growing with one another was very astute. Bravo! A lot to it. On another note, you're right that Rainbow weren't huge in the US - they were in Europe, but Ritchie Blackmore wanted them to be as huge in the US as well. As a result, he switched singers twice: first to Graham Bonnet - resulting in the colossal hit single "Since you been gone" and then to Joe Lynn Turner. The band remained huge in Europe, but only grew marginally in the US, so in 1984 Blackmore decided to call it a day and rejoion the reunited Deep Purple instead. There have been two more Rainbow reunions since, however.
Lex....growing up in the late '70s and '80s as a teen was the best. Every month a band would be touring and releasing a new album. These bands had and still have talent. Most of my friends and I all played in bands or played guitar. The concerts were just on another level and everyone wanted to hear the NEW songs just as much as the old stuff. You don't see any of that these days. A recent study showed that young people today listen to 70% of their music from the '70-90s.
Rainbow was fire and they were popular. Richie Blackmore was in Rainbow and then Deep Purple. Such a classic tune and your reaction reflected it. Good job you two. Fire 🔥 reaction to a vintage metal band
How was it to grow up with this music? I was a teenager in the 80s. Rainbow was my first rock concert (post -Dio, Joe Lynn Turner on vocals). It was fantastic! Very glad my concert-going years started then! I did get to see Ronnie with his band Dio at Monsters of Rock 84 in Nuremberg, Germany. Good times!
I discovered this song the same day I heard, Take The Highway' by the Marshall Tucker Band for the first time thanks to our short lived high school radio station!! Epics.
Such a great song. Ritchie Blackmore's guitar combined with the keyboards of Mickey Lee Soule, the bass by Craig Gruber and Gary Driscoll's drums and on top of it Ronnie James Dio's voice. Greatness. Several great songs on this album. Temple of the King and Sixteenth Century Gleensleeves to mention a few
fun fact: the lead singers dad was into mountain climbing. would be gone most of his childhood climbing and although he held resentment in his youth, later in life he held his dad in high regard and wrote about him like they did here
Evile - In Memoriam You both would love that song. Very emotional ballad about loss. First written to the bands bassist, who passed away in 2009 while they were on tour.
I'm with Lex. I wasn't crazy about Dio's voice when I first heard it either. But he grew on me. And you are both right. Rainbow wasn't huge at first, at least not commercially. In fact, they didn't get mainstream success until after Ronnie left the band and the revamped group went in a more pop-rock direction. Since You've Been Gone (1979), with Graham Bonnet on vocals, was probably the band's biggest hit (top 10 in the UK and Ireland, 57 in the US). And yes, Ronnie was one of the progentors of what a metal voice should sound like and he was much imitated.
The guitarist is Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple, one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He left DP and created Rainbow ro start a band with Dio.
Here for it…Ritchie Blackmore- underrated guitarist for sure. That guy - you think you know where’s he going- and he doesn’t,then ok I got it now- nope…..he’s one you just listen and roll with…..every time. ❤️🎼🎶❤️🔥
A little back story, DIO was heading this group called ELF, and when Deep Purple's quitatist Ritchie Blackmore Quit the Band He co-founded because he felt that Deep Purple was getting away from the Hard Rock genre they have playing, Blackmore then Hired the entire band ELF. In 1975 Blackmore created the Band "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow".. In an early 90s interview, Blackmore said he saw something special with DIO. How Right He was !!!!!!!! R.I.P. !!!

Peace
200k, wooot, congrats guys!!!
This is one of those performances where you can really hear how Dio influenced Chris Cornell.
Yrs ago my friends&I all had this song qued up in our cars&would listen to this song cranked high on way to work, to wake us up on days we're hung over or tired.
It is such a joy to hear Lex use words we used to use (became slang) like "solid" and in the same way we did.
#BradAndLex I love watching how heavier & heavier yall have gotten since first hearing Heavy Metal. Keep on Rocking !
Props to you guys... it's easy to see why you've hit 200K so quickly. Your selections are simply stellar. Keep up the great work! 🏆
What a band, what a song...Saw Dio live singing this song...He is THE BEST ever
'Light in the Black' is a song by Rainbow that would be a great reaction🤘
Thank you Brad & Lex for all of your Rock, Metal and Alternative reactions🤘🤘🤘
one of their finest deep tracks for sure !!
Old school bad ass tunes.
EPIC! My favorite Rainbow 🌈 song.
Ritchie Blackmore the guitarist is a Legend!!!
The '70's & '80's were an incredible time to grow up... so much great music, so much progress on nearly every front... I wish I could go back and stay in that time period forever... I would give up all the "modern tech" for the opportunity....
STARGAZER! The masterpiece on several points!
Especially on Ronnie`s voice!
Too cool you two - love the way you rock lex - old soul
RIP you are loved and missed. Greatest song ever.
I never got to see Deep Purple, but I was lucky enough to see Rainbow twice.
Rainbow was my loudest concert
Reminds me of my school days, discovering Rainbow in my first band!
LONG LIVE ( ROCK AND ROLL) a must listen from RAINBOW!
The guitar was really good. Yes, that is Richie Blackmore and the band was his band after leaving Deep Purple. For a time the band was known as Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow. I have their first couple of LPs.
Catch The Rainbow
I've seen Dio in concert so many times. He was so good in concert. That voice was so awesome and so talented. Love Love Love.
That is what is written on Dios crypt: 'The Man On The Silver Mountain'.
Richie Blackmores Rainbow was incredible to see in concert.
Seeing Lex smile when the song begins, she is a rocker 💕
RONNIE JAMES DIO! WHAT A AWESOME DUDE! GREAT SINGER AND SONG WRITER!RIP BROTHER RONNIE ✌❤🙏
Rainbow was huge
How was it to grow up with this music? I was a teenager in the 80s. Rainbow was my first rock concert (post -Dio, Joe Lynn Turner on vocals). It was fantastic! Very glad my concert-going years started then! I did get to see Ronnie with his band Dio at Monsters of Rock 84 in Nuremberg, Germany. Good times!
Lex would've been the very life & pulse of our parties in the blessed 70's. Now, pass me the bong!
One of my top 5 Rainbow songs. You guys rock🤘😃🤘
Early 70's, Deep Purple @ OKC, fairgrounds, on about 20th row floor . Dude gets up and starts shooting at the band, he was swarmed by crowd.
Great songs. A live '95 version of Temple of the King" with Doogie White on vocals for Rainbow is a great version to sample as well.
Mickey Lee Soule
@@zdenkonouzovsky6947 Thanks. My phone changed the spelling. Have updated my post
fun fact: the lead singers dad was into mountain climbing. would be gone most of his childhood climbing and although he held resentment in his youth, later in life he held his dad in high regard and wrote about him like they did here
Watching Lex React is my Favorite Part of these Reaction songs.
There's a fun and catchy one off that album called Black sheep of the family. First band he was with was called Elf they had some good tunes
One of the most iconic rock songs in rock and roll history.
They wrote and played awesome songs!!
Evile - In Memoriam
You both would love that song. Very emotional ballad about loss. First written to the bands bassist, who passed away in 2009 while they were on tour.
I was born in 1953 and I've always loved this kind of music. Of course, I love various types of music.
Rainbow's first 2 albums are solid as fuck. Highly influential albums. Lex, had a giggle at your silent karaoke, lol. You are an absolute doll!
First 3 albums were solid in my opinion. What didn't you like about the album "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll"?
Richie Blackmore of "Deep Purple is the guitarist in this Band.
Always one of my all time favorite songs.
The guitarist is Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple, one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He left DP and created Rainbow ro start a band with Dio.
Phenomenal band, Dio' s vocals and Ritchie Blackmore's playing, this was it. ( Old rocker from the 303).
You guys are great. Big love
... 😉
Great band! Awesome song!
Powerful vocals 🎙
Gorgeous vocals!!🎉
R.I.P. !!!
Guitar player is Ritchie Blackmore. He was the guitar player for Deep Purple.
I love watching Lex jamming out on the songs I grew up on.
One of the BEST banger songs of all TIME!
Ronnie and the boys of Rainbow 🌈 this song a true masterpiece 🤘🔊🔉🔊🔉🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎤🎸🎸🎹🥁🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🔊🔉🔊🔉🔊🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💭💭💭💭💯✅ Man of the Silver Mountain ❤❤❤❤❤❤
