Super Foodie (check). Ultimate Tracker (check). Defender of the house? Not so much. But that's OK! We wouldn't trade our little Elphie for anything. She is awesome. Love your channel. Beagles are the best dogs. Enough said.
I don’t know, my two beagles make so much noise baying and barking if someone steps in the yard, I can’t believe a person would ever dare break into our house. But, yes, if the person had the balls to still break in, the only ways the dogs would hurt him is if he fell over from them jumping up on him to be petted first before the other one gets petted and bringing him toys.
Same here... he guards my house... and all the houses on the street... LOL... this said, it's more a mix of anticipation and fear so I wonder if he is actually "protecting" anything. This being, I love that he never growls.
Yeah. My beagle would bark at people but was definitely not territorial. So she was a good alarm dog but not a guard. When strangers came over it was party time. And she loved a party.
I always find the best info and advices here so, what place could be better to ask?... Is it normal for a beagle to be so territorial and only be friends with a very few dogs and humans? Mine acts like he's a rottweiler on steroids! 🙈
They do that a lot wen small..thats the only way they know to communicate..u need to teach them to not do so by using words like NO, DONT BITE, frequently n pull away ur hand.. u may also react like u r getting hurt.. they will stop bitting.. this is my tried n perfected technique . Hope it helps u😊
They don't need that much room, but yes they are noisy and they need a lot of exercise, so you will have to take them outside atleast twice a day for long walks.
Ditto… and we regret it every day, but wouldn’t get rid of one of them for a million dollars (well, I might take the million, but then I’d go wait for him to escape the new owner’s property in the first three minutes, open my door for him to jump in, and drive to the new house in a different location that I bought with part of the million) 😋
I'm sorry, but I have to point out one statement you made at the beginning at the beginning of this video. You said something along the line of, "if you're walking your beagle and the dog catches a scent, it "might" try to go chase after it." That is a bit misleading. The proper way to say it is, "if you're walking your beagle and the dog catches a scent, it WILL try to chase after it!" ;-)
All of the above times 100 except the barking. We made it a point to discourage barking since day 1 so our beagle doesn't bark. Also no howling if we are at home. But the whining ... drives me insane.
@@iarmstrong5852 We said “no” and made a grumpy face every single time he barked to make sure he knew it wasn’t allowed. If he did it during playtime then playtime would end instantly. That kind of thing. Basically just staying consistent in showing him that barking is off limits.
The most psychotic dog I have ever seen the best way to describe their personality is a 16 year old ex wife who hates you, kept as a house pet. Never ever again. ..EVER.
Yikes, You described a crappy old Pit Bull......The alternate reality description is an "American bully". Beagles are the best dog in the world don't confuse them

Daahmm...My Groot does bark a little at strangers at home but the moment the stranger smiles, Groot jumps at them to greet them.
This video is spot on. Can definitely agree with everything you’ve said my beagle does all of that
This is spot on!!!!! But for some reason, I want another one. I guess once you go Beagle...😂
Seriously. I so want to get more beagles.
Yup! Once you go beagle you never go back! 😅
My dog is all of those things except he does defend the home and bark at people he thinks are suspicious.
Same here... he guards my house... and all the houses on the street... LOL... this said, it's more a mix of anticipation and fear so I wonder if he is actually "protecting" anything. This being, I love that he never growls.
Ohh. My Groot does bark a little at strangers at home but the moment the stranger smiles, Groot jumps at them to greet them.
@@BeagleCare nice I’m about to get a beagle so this channel will be very helpful so thank you for making this type of channel!

100% accurate. I love this channel!
Glad to hear it!❤
My beagle is 3 and dont howl/bay. Two other points to mention are the all year shedding and need to give bath frequently due to their odour.
I love my baby

Can you make a video on scent training for a beagle?
Oh great idea. Definetly. Thank you so much for this awesome suggestion.
Hi.... I wanted to ask how to stop my beagle biting me when i try to touch her 🤔..
She is 3 months old

should i get a beagle if i live in a small apartment given how noisy they are and how much room they need?
They don't need that much room, but yes they are noisy and they need a lot of exercise, so you will have to take them outside atleast twice a day for long walks.

I have two beagle

Hahahaha lol
My dog always tries to bite strangers hence the last point wont work with my beagle (:

Hahaha, yeah my bad. I 100% agree, it should have been THEY WILL CHASE AFTER IT!
My beagle is 9 and she never howled 🤔
Woow, that's unheard of.
All of the above times 100 except the barking. We made it a point to discourage barking since day 1 so our beagle doesn't bark. Also no howling if we are at home. But the whining ... drives me insane.
How did you discourage barking?

that barking is off limits.
That's amazing. We kinda did the same thing, saying NO and making a grumpy face, but we have just managed to bring down barking 50%.

@@dand3975 I owned a Pitbull he was a good boy who slept alot, very quiet and not psychotic like Beagles.
