The cruelest joke is that when he was ready to come back to the world, the world shut down. This song is therapy.
Same thing happened to me. Just keeping my head above water. I feel for Bo
That’s literally the middle part of the song
idk if anyone needed you to explain the song but thanks anyway
@@freehealthcare8203 Im actually thankful for people in the comments interpreting the song, because imho it has different levels of meaning so its always interesting what other people read between the lines. Maybe you are not aware, but most of these reaction videos actually fail to engage with the meanings of this song. "Sounds awesome" and "hes so funny" are not the kind of things im interested in.
Crazy to think he just noped out of comedy for the entire trump presidency - January 2020 is a curious a time to re enter 🤔
To answer your question, his comedy specials are like 20% regular standup and 80% songs.
its a perfect ratio
But his content is amazing
@@coreyanderson7505 You're right it is. I never said it wasn't.
Also its like 80% funny 20% real deep shit like this one. Perfect balance
And 100% amazing
The context for the video is that he spent a year inside his home, making and filming his new Netflix special by himself.
He wrote, performed, edited, did the lighting, camera work, etc. all by himself.
The special starts off pretty funny, and relatively ligh-hearted, but as it goes on, as he spends a year isolated in his home, it gets darker.
This song is towards the end, when he’s really struggling.
The whole thing is excellent. 10/10.
This dude clearly needs to watch it
Like the songs are great, but in context of the netflix special, its so much more meaningful
@@alextilson9741 like the whole thing. React to the react portion 🤣
It's an absolutely brilliant amalgation of melancholy and comedy and it's fucking amazing, heatbreaking, and extremely introspective.
He didn't do the editing all by himself, and someone certainly helped him produce it. He did all the writing, performing, cinematography and effects by himself.
"Dont be scared, come on in the waters fine. You say the oceans rising, like i give a shit. Say the world is ending honey it already did"
Lyrics that sounds so good to the ears but also very depressing. And sadly true
If you actually think about the lines "We're going to go where everybody knows everybody..." The only place where everybody knows everybody is alone in isolation. People only know themselves, others only have their perception of you, they don't know you.
"got it, good, now get inside"
He was gonna start to perform and get out into the world, but now the world is fucked.... So get back inside.
And he would've had a crowd to perform to, but now he's just singing alone to no crowd.
This song and this part of the special isn't really a joke... More like the universe played a joke on him
The ocean's rising, we're going to go where everybody knows.
Seems fitting the blue light gives it an underwater feel
@@AdamH7 you’re so right! Can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that. It adds so much more depth
@@AdamH7 or you know...death. Cause we all go to die. Yayyy. Fun!
Love how he has the edited in laugh tracks and applause, but when he picks up the camera and turns it around, it's just his shadow. Honestly, the editing and production of Inside are pretty fucking crazy for a solo project, you can tell it's a mixture of passion, mania, and desperation driving him, which the special itself comments on numerous times.
There is some other fluffy/weird shadow there, too. What IS that?? His depression? lol I've watched this several times and every time I see it it freaks me out.
Just white woman’s instagram alone must have taken sooo much work
Greatness and madness are neighbors.
its just, art. a masterpiece
@@StrangeTripNH If you haven't seen the whole thing yet there are amazing little clips of him checking every little thing and setting up for the scenes from that at the end of the special. Besides the obvious struggle and depressing nature of the show he is a master of the art and this was a true gem of his talent. As someone with mental health struggles, I basically had a breakdown after watching it because it hit so close to home.
Bo is just a real real creator. He suffers from anxiety and depression and he turns it into self-aware comedy. He's always used goofiness to hide behind... but as he's grown, he's being more open about his sincere intensions. He also just happens to be a funny fool.
Bo has stated he has never suffered from depression.
@@stealthkbd He clearly states on several different occasions that he struggles with severe mental health issues, even stating that his mental health is declining at points, its fair to assume that depression falls under those terms.
@@stealthkbd source ??
@@christopherpenn9283 his performances can't be taken as fact or clear insight into Bo. Bo on stage and in this special is a character. While it may highlight and exaggerate feelings he has at times it's not a diary of his life. See this AMA he did on reddit for my source.

littered in his specials are also jokes about his father and their poor relationship. Bo has stated that this actually represents the idea of many fathers and that he infact has a great relationship with his own.
It's also worth noting that Bo was not alone in this room for the entirety of this special. He lives in a big house, with his girlfriend (wife maybe?) and his dog. I'm not trying to take anything away from this special by saying that, In my opinion its truly one most incredible things ive ever seen, in any medium. Could be a definitive piece of art of the 2020's. Don't think for a second though that this special wasn't acted and constructed down to the mannerism, because it was. Bo is the master of making things work from moment to moment. Absolutely everything you see is intentional and curated.

"You say the whole world's ending, honey it already did."
Gets me every time.
When I first heard this song I thought he said “you can’t slow it down, god knows you tried. God if you’re not dead inside.” But turns out he says “Got it? Good. Now go inside.”
SAAAME
I always thought he was saying Kanye already did..until I read this comment lol
Honestly, this entire special was like a look inside Bo's soul
He also knows his audience really well, I think it’s 50% him and 50% knowing who his viewers are, knowing we’ll be able to deeply relate to it
those last 2 songs were the best thing i heard from him. laughed p hard, bopped and jammed, and cried a bit. i hope he's ok
I agree but it also held up a mirror to a lot of us
@@ericofficially my exact reaction
To make things a little less depressing, I can relate to the song 30 quite a lot. Lol. except for the line about wanting to kill myself obviously. But then again, he was joking about that line. He even says in the special to not do it. So yeah…
Just watch the special already dude. You've liked every single from it and it's just 90 min of straight fire.
Then he wouldn't have a way to lazily reupload someone else's work

This is a whole subgenre though. Not fanboying but I tune into this guy sometimes because I align with his sentiments largely. Sure it's a bit derivative but, "welcome to the internet".

That's a great quote to remember. I'll try too. I'll try too
Dkgfhkf that really does sum up the special too well wow
You would definitely like “Can’t Handle This” from his last special too.
I second this.
My two favorite Bo songs for surrrrreee
Yes absolutely one of his best songs
please react to this yes!
More depth!
Bo is one of the, if not the best comedians in the world. He’s a musical comedian, and that’s what makes him so special. His lyricism and word play is insane. He’s always had a message in his music and incorporated his battles with mental illness. “Inside” was him taking it to the next level. Revolutionary, even. The special is a masterpiece. Especially considering the fact that he did it completely on his own
He’s ridiculously talented. I have a feeling “Inside” is going to be a special that people talk about for a very, long time and it will be known as THE art of the pandemic era.
The closest person to Bo I can think of is Reggie Watts, and still not even, really...
Fancy seeing you here.
I think there are plenty of people who are better comedians, but Bo is a legitimate creative genius, something that many of those comedians who are better than him are not. The videography and production of the entire special was crazy. Even in this song, doing something as simple as blocking the light with his hand for the "Hands down, pray for me" to bring it to a more somber place was incredible. Add to that that the first movie he both wrote and directed has a 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes and won Best Original Screenplay from the Writers Guild of America. He really is incredible.
I love that Bo did a parody about reaction videos and people are still reacting to his songs
you really missed the point of that bit. he was over analyzing himself and over criticizing himself and showing how self aware he is, which is why he talks about himself seeming like a douchebag and then says he uses that as a defense mechanism because if he seems self aware it makes him seem less like a douchebag
@@mexicanvanilla14 ^^^
The fact he did this ENTIRE special by himself in a room is super impressive.
I'd recommend his songs "Art is Dead" and "Can't Handle This - Kanye Rant". I think the latter was his last live performance.
Repeat stuff is genius calling out the music industry
@@coreyanderson7505 yeah, but Art is Dead goes harder on the industry and it covers the full entertainment community

I can't get enough of this song, its seriously depressing and amazing at the same time.
The fact that he put laughs in his story about having panic attacks breaks my heart...
He usually goes by as a “comedic performer” instead of a regular “comedian”. Hes an artist at heart and it shows in his writing, directing, producing, performing and singing. The comedy is just a plus i think. He performs songs that are funny but he uses the songs to deliver an underlying message.
Damn, how did you not tear up at that “Got it? Good. Now get inside,” harmony?
This special isn't exactly... Comedy. It's a glance inside his head/soul during quarantine
it's a tagicomedy. it still has jokes. i laughed when i saw it but yea it's definitely feels a lot like an art film with mostly very dark dark comedy in it.
Healing the world with comedy
honestly, its far beyond anything close it right now, its in a league of its own as a film for the ages
I love the fact that he (broadband) laughed when bo said “IM TALKING TO YOU, GET THE FUCK UP” and then you could literally see him go from laughing to very solemn.
“inside” really showcases his talent. he’s got comedic songs and he’s got meaningful songs
His new special "Inside" was written, directed, filmed, recorded and edited all by Bo himself in this one room over the course of a year in quarantine. I wouldn't exactly call it a comedy special, there are elements of comedy but also this thing gets down right depressing at some points. I mean this genuinely, this special is one of the most impressive and meaningful pieces or artwork released by a single person in decades.
I thought it was going to end on a positive note then it turned into The Truman Show
I 100% agree. As it ended I was in tears.
@@AdamH7 It was the truman show, but he made it, in the last few seconds it's him watching that last scene, and then he begins to smile
right on
The special is about being stuck alone during the pandemic but also how anxiety and depression is being stuck inside hiding from the world all the time.
This song sounds like a hype anthem first, get your fucking hands up, all eyes on me, but after the story about panic attacks the chorus then sounds like how it must feel to live through that.
Its intense and scary but I also read how he breaks the fourth wall amazingly and picks up the viewer as almost a call to action and trying to break that sense of emprisionment.
Bo is borderline genius. He's doing things no one else is doing. Plus he's always improving and surprising us with his talent.
There is never a disingenuous moment in this guy’s work.
The songs from "Inside" are really good on their own but the emotions I felt when I watched them in context during the special are inexplicably more vast than watching them in isolation. When he yelled at us to get up on our feet and grabbed the camera near the end of this song, I had a visceral reaction because of everything that had occurred before that song in the show. After the special was over, I was depressed, shocked, thoughtful, and a little angry, but mostly I was thankful I had experienced it.
He's always been super talented musically and his specials usually stray from comedy and tackle much more serious issues (usually that he is facing). This song is from his new Netflix special, Inside, that's truly amazing. It's roughly 40% standup with a lot of satire sprinkled in, but the special itself isn't really a comedy. The arc mostly just focuses on him and his mind set during quarantine. I fully recommend. Some of his other songs that should be in the cleared for reactions are "Welcome to the Internet" and "White Woman's Instagram". Both really cool and good.
nah its like 5% stand up. the "why cant anybody shut the fuck up about anything" is the only thing that really resembles stand up.

Bro you're 100% right. He been doing this shit for a long time; making music and incorporating comedy into the tunes while he's performing. It's gotten progressively more substantial and profound over the years, but music has always been a part of his act.
bo's music and art has helped me for 14 years, hes the only that speaks from and to me
dude this isn't a joke it's depressing as fuck i can't even
It’s beautiful. Super inspiring.
The whole time he was like "these jokes. The comedy" i was like 😰😰😰
He's a former comedian who played songs who is now a musician that tells jokes.
His whole Netflix special was a roller coaster of emotions. 2020 was a hell of a year. RIP to those we lost and thankful for the ones we get to see on the other side of it. Halfway through 2021 has me feeling a sense of normalcy. Stay safe ✌🏼
This song gives me goosebumps after watching the special so many times. It's so intense
He's an amazing voice for our fear, depression, disbelief, grief, and maybe even a little hope. You can see him working thru his depression, anger and background with Christianity.. as so many of us. ✌️💗
Everyone’s talking about the water part of the song, like it’s the deepest part of the song but for me it’s “heads down, pray for me, heads down, pray for me”
Should react to Bo reacting to Bo reacting to Bo singing.
I love how Broadbands expression goes from laughing to deep in thought. Bo does that to us all. Love the content.
Even tho Bo's song can stand alone, one should really watch the whole special, especially Inside. It all ties together and provides more context. Inside is a masterpiece. Such an cathartic and theraputic experience
Bo was a huge “viral” video back in the original UA-cam era. Got signed and did a cd. Got big again and did comedy shows on stage mainly singing song that were with, silly, Deep, and self-aware jokes. But often talks about how he is struggling with and handling his anxieties. You can see it really develop and lead to this point I highly suggest watching his specials on Netflix and his original UA-cam videos.
It’s so interesting to see your take, especially without the context of the entire special, because the special is like a journey leading up to this point. Also, to not be familiar with his work at all, and appreciate the song in a vacuum like this, I’m so happy to see it. Bo Burnham makes me laugh and cry so hard equally, and I’ve been watching him since we were both awkward youths on UA-cam.
Great video!
Make sure that you also watch "Welcome to the Internet" and "White Woman's Instagram".
Also, 100% should check out his comedy specials "What" (from 2013), "Make Happy" (from 2015, the one with the Country Song), and the newest one to come out, "Inside" (from 2021, where All Eyes On Me and the other two songs I mentioned are from).
All three specials are available on Netflix
Bezos 1 and 2. Cracks me up every time.
there is also “words words words” which isnt available on netflix
l think in order too, so cool to watch an artist evolve over the course of their specials
This song is about performing and about how we’re all always performing in our lives. It’s like a fever dream that just keeps repeating and he can’t escape the cycle. Even when he’s making a special about how we are trapped in this hyper-social digital space of over expression and all eyes on me, he is still putting on a performance and is trapped.
I CANNOT WAIT for you to see the rest of the new special. It’s epic.
I’ve been a huge Bo Burnham since early UA-cam, he wrote a lot of comedic songs or small skits and I was so excited for his first special. He’s so relatable and his work on bringing awareness towards mental health has been commendable!
Ive been listening to this song on repeat for a week now and I love your commentary and reactions they were very considerate and thoughtful ❤️
Bo kinda predicted this video in the special. Kinda crazy
Bo is what this world needs💕 been listening to this song on repeat because it’s so healing
Everyone here not understanding the irony of watching a reaction video to this show
I feel a little guilty when I do watch any, but I also am just so curious what everyone else is getting out of this special and their thoughts even if they haven't seen it that I've been watching them anyway but always flash backing to that part and feeling bad lol
You know what's weirder? Commenting on a reaction video to the show...
... or did you think you were exempt from all of this bullshit? Lol
@@elbruces bingo
I was thinking the same thing. The irony is thick but my guy didn't watch the special so I give him a pass.
The best song of "Inside" for sure in my opinion. Also one of the only songs of the special where he doesn't really joke at all, it's just raw Bo.
Have to taken notice to the numbers at the top left corner of the video...they don't change. The whole album is exposing some shit I believe.
When you realize he’s singing this song for himself 😢 favorite song from the special. About to rewatch the special again
Its so powerful, heartbreaking and soothing because of how much you can relate to the song
Thank you for doing these reactions with such a broad spectrum of artists/content.
Awesome video bro, love this song. Respect to you g.
This is a powerful reaction man, I could see the song resounding with you more as it went on. I just heard this yesterday and it's some next next level talent.
Bo’s whole deal is that he is a pretentious entertainer, who’s trying to make people laugh when art is dead and comedy is inappropriate.
Or is he an artist who’s trying to show people the truth of reality by adopting that earlier persona and sometimes allowing people to peak into the life of a real person everyone else has arbitrarily decided is more deserving of attention because he wrote some comedy songs as a 16 year old and put them on youtube?
I really recommend watching all three Netflix specials in order, that’s
what. -> Make Happy -> Inside
He actually has an earlier hour set called Words. Words. Words. But this was definitely more traditional stand up just with songs. However, the earliest version of what his art is like now is from that show, it’s a song called “art is dead.” It has two versions, one from the standup routine, and one in the Green Room where he performed it for other comedians, and both are powerful, but the green room one is better after knowing the original and spotting some key word changes
As someone who watched Bo Burnham develop from his original Comedy central bit to his specials Its so emotional to see him go to be so big to dropping off the face of the earth to releasing a special including songs that make you want to bawl your eyes out esp during covid. He is a master of his craft and I'd wait a decade for him cause I know whatever he comes up with will slap harder than any song on the radio
I’ve watched this special and specifically this part over and over again since it came out. I can’t handle it. I feel seen
Broadband I really appreciate your facial expressions during this one especially, I can tell you're really feeling the song, not just listening. Quality content dude.
Okay I saw you getting emotional! You held it together but I could tell this hit you in the feels and you’re not the only one. This special is an emotional masterpiece
Thank you for sharing your opinion on this song! I really listened to it too. It is very therapeutic after the first few times hearing it.
I first came across bo back in the early UA-cam days so about 2006, most if not all at the time his content was songs, but this song in particular has been the most jaw dropping content he's ever put out.
It seems like the deeper meaning passed over his head
I was already a Bo Burnham fan for over 10 yrs now. But the way you run your reaction videos is perfect. I hate too many pauses. Just like a good movie i enjoy people genuinely reacting to it without the breaks. Keep doing you bro
Love your reaction I enjoyed his song very much as well!
Hell yeah glad you liked it, you’d honestly love the rest of his shit. Can’t Handle This from his last special in 2016, you would love it, but definitely recommend his entire Inside special that just came out
His latest special is comedy derived from fear and isolation. It honestly hit home for me and had I watched it like 6 months earlier I would've sobbed hard. All of his content was self deprecating but this strikes a new chord.
Overall I'm glad you love his content too. Stay safe out there!
He’s a total genius as you’ll go through his content you’ll have an experience like never before, your emotions will be triggered without you even knowing. ‘Make happy’ being the best special ever, this dude’s crazy talented, love his art
It’s interesting seeing people who (I assume) haven’t known Bo’s work for very long. I’ve been a fan since 2013 and I’ve seen all of his content, and I think this special really gave an insight into how we handled the pandemic, collectively but separated at the same time. I found myself following almost the same trajectory Bo goes through, from thinking about how I can help to learning more about the system we operate under (that we were too busy to truly see before) and overtime the isolation leading to worsening depression and anxiety (at least for me). This song feels like he’s at a low point and is really struggling to keep it together. It’s really beautiful and shows his mastery over storytelling (IMO) when you watch how he stitched all of his songs and skits together to create a very clear and unique insight into his lockdown/pandemic experience. If anyone who is reading this hasn’t watched Inside or any of his other work, this is your sign to go do that right now. All 3 comedy specials (What, Make Happy, and Inside) are on Netflix :)
The special is gold, so poignant and relevant/relatable. I love all these react videos since he actually does one* in the special
Liked the second you were feeling it in the intro 😂
yesterday i rewatched the entire special for the first time after my 1st watch and I'm not gonna lie, this bit KILLED me like i was bawling no joke
Bo is an amazing artist, his specials always include a deeper meaning all while making you chuckle. This special is about quarantine and mental health
This song genuinely had me in tears on my first watch
Great review💯🤜🤛
Glad you did this one bud!
You just need to watch the whole special “Inside” you won’t regret it!
Music is a huge part of Bo's comedy, his specials/shows always feature songs between skits and more traditional stand-up comedy.
I am obsessed with this track - it’s beautiful
Yes! I also fierclyyyy recommend the “can’t handle this” song.. it offers some context I think for “all eyes on me” bop, too.
I highly recommend watching the full special. It will give you a better idea of who he is a creator and this song hits a thousand times harder in the context of the special
Every single song on this special is brilliant and it is art that represents everything we've been through this year. I was teaching from home all year and I completely understand the isolation portrayed in this film. But, I don't think it's just my experience, it's OUR experience. My little first graders were feeling isolated and I bet you were too. This was the most devistating year, but this special was an amazing way to reflect on what it's been like. Hopefully, for us all there are better days on the horizon-- I'm saying this taking into consideration all of the themes of the special. If you've just watched this song, see the whole special. Bo should win 100 awards for this masterpiece!
Fantastic reaction video dude
Yes, he's very talented and mixes his talent and comedy so well! Great video man, I enjoyed it! This new special seemed more a therapy session for him and was hilarious but intense. He's a great artist.
You have to watch his special on Netflix "inside"
This entire special he wrote, filmed, and edited everything himself; I was literally a 1 man show
Bro so much emotion on the track. As an empath I feel that ish bro bro. I hope he does more like this.
the jamie foxx comparison is pretty spot on. You should watch the rest of Bo’s songs from his new special

It's really worth watching Bo's new special "INSIDE". He explains who he is better than I could :) That said, his work is about telling his truth, and trying to help tear down oppression, as best he knows how. For a long time, he did that through comedy. This special still has some of that, but it's darker than his other work, because 2020. There's a lot of really contemplative detail. For example, in this song, there's a projector on his wall, which shows the camera battery at full, and a comped-in overlay of the same image, which shows the battery almost at zero. Why?
I just rediscovered Bo in this song! This is the first I’m seeing of you. This video is just as moving as his. I wonder if you still listen to it. I’m glad you had that moment at the end.
The eye movements
Hey Man! Keep it up! You’re one of few good reaction channels here

Pretty damn cool seeing you go through the emotions of the song. Bo Burnham is a goddamn genius.
Bo genuinely makes great music that blends in comedy with creative tunes. He’s an incredible artist and I recommend this album to react to it’s incredibly dark, funny, and a unique look inside a comedian grappling with mental health and letting us in.
this is one of my favorites for sure
His comedy starts extremely funny, but more towards the end of each performance he puts out and amazing message and it gets darker and more serious. The more you watch of him you learn about everything he battles with. Definitely check out "Can't Handle this"
