That's true of all Babymetal songs. The studio albums are way over engineered, particularly on Su's voice, so the live versions sound way more natural.
Same. I didn't like this song at all when I first heard the studio version, BUT when the fan cams started popping up when they first performed it live on their tour...I became a fan of this song.
I agree, saw it live in Belgium and it was one of the songs i didn't like that much before i went to the concert.
At the live show itself i thought the ceiling was gonna come down with the amount of energy that coursed through there.

Agreed. I saw them on the Babylok tour that wrapped at the end of 2023, and BxMxC was on the setlist. Their albums aren't bad, but they are beyond belief when they are live.
It shows Su-metal's special ability to take a song that disappoints in the studio and turn it into something great live. This song is one of them. I had the chance to listen this song live and it was an incredible mystical experience.
This is the first time I heard that this song disappoints in studio version. That’s crazy, first time i listened to it (studio version btw) I freaking loved it
Su crushes this as a consummate performer. Her every expression and gesture projects such confidence and authority that you can easily imagine her as a pirate queen, wordlessly ordering the execution of some noble hostage with a flick of her wrist. 100% pure stage presence.
I believe Su talked about how their newer songs (like this one) represent a new era for BABYMETAL, their sound and choreography is more mature, which is to be expected. I love them just as much now, if not more. I really like Su's voice with no "auto-tune" in this live performance of BxMxC, but the sound quality is not doing the song full justice like in their official music video. The MV itself is also awesome, this song packs some serious punch.
Edit: The band has been experimenting with a lot of different styles in their latest album and I respect that, you can't grow if you don't push boundaries. Some styles will be more popular than others, but their execution is perfect and that's why I love BABYMETAL.
Guitar Lobby placed Suzuka Nakamoto on rank 6 of "the best female metal singers of all time who have helped define and transform the genre" in their 2021 and 2022 listings. As by far the youngest on this list of pure epicness. :)

I totally agree with you about BABYMETAL being so special and Su-metal's versatility as a vocalist. Their level in all the aspects is insane: the songwriting, the choreo, the stage setups and effects, the Kami Band, Moa (Yui at the time), the Avengers... all looking for perfection. And, of course, Su owning the stages like THIS.
"BxMxC" is not probably on my top favorites list but I have to admit that Su kills it live. That a capella part is so freaking amazing and the instrumentals from that breakdown till the end is fire. 🔥🔥🔥

My feelings about this are 100% in line with yours. At first I was a little disappointed with this song. It took me a little longer than you, maybe 3 or 4 times of listening to it, until I noticed how awesome it is.
And on top of everything is Su, who leveled up again for this. The way she not only raps perfectly, but also somehow manages to appear totally legit fronting this badass music, totally baffles me. She is such a tiny girl, but at the same time she is such giant on stage.
I love that they can still make me go „WTF“ after years of soaking in everything I could find about them. There are so many new elements not only in the music, but also in the choreography and their whole appearance, it just never gets stale. What a fascinating band!

Yessssss!!! You got to one of my favorites. Can't get better than Babymetal mixing metal, dubstep and rap lyrics. I read somewhere that Su studied different rap styles so that she could develop her own flow. Awesome 🤘🦊🤘

This song may not be in my top 10 favorite BABYMETAL songs, BUT at a BABYMETAL concert, this song would be the one to get me the MOST hyped to yell and headbang/jump around. I would definitely lose my voice and be tired out from this song during a show.🤘🦊🤘
I was so happy you got a kick out of that cheeky look from Su. I noticed that too, and I just love the subtleties in her performances.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Su-Metal is singing about some established style which used to be revolutionary and literally "stylish" but has turned already obsolete like an "Illusion of Rusted Chain" (last phrase of Su's rapping). Lyrics are suggesting breakthrough in or change to the status-quo (including the status of BM itself). When I heard this song in CD for the first time, I was skeptical that this challenging song would be played live on stage. But they did it flawlessly with clear vocal and sharp choreo. I witnessed it twice on Day-7 & 8 in 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts last year. I, a poor skeptic, had to beg our Queen & Princess for their forgiveness. 🥶
Awesome you're enjoying your journey into the Foxhole, another great reaction, but before going further in this Metal Galaxy era I really recommend you to watch "The One" live at Tokyo Dome 2016 since the official is great but heavily blocked and with studio album sound, and if you watch before that song "Tales Of The Destinies" then the experience will be full since both songs are tied together but split in two parts, you already q BM fan and you need to listen that special song, and you know where to find those songs: Babymetal Reactor Resource.🦊🤘🧡
BxMxC (or just BMC) probably means BabyMetal Cypher but fans like to have fun saying stand for Bring Moa Chicken, because Moa loves fried chicken 🍗
SuMetal is taking a real challenge with this new trap/rap metal song, she needed to find her flow and boi she can spit some bars and killing it on this one with the attitude. She actually rap since their very first song Doki Doki Morning but of course this one is on another level. But the hip hop and rap elements are more clear on songs like "Iine!" or "Onedari Daisakusen" way before this BxMxC song.
This song was the last one added to Metal Galaxy 3rd album and is an exclusive track (along with "↑↓←→BBAB") is clear that they took a challenge on this in such short time, and no wonder why they push this song during live shows outside of Japan.
The MV and album track got an auto-tune effect for artistic reasons but just like you saw live is when SuMetal voice really shine without those effects and the girls with the badass dancing.
This one is a live compilation of Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 along with 10 BABYMETAL Years Budokan 2021 to curve those copyright blocked.

To truly appreciate this track, you have to listen to it with a quality set of speakers/headset and at FULL VOLUME! The pounding rhythm and the drops are too good!
its by far my favorite song, cause of its power and the low C tuning or whatever they tuned their instruments.. freakin loosen their strings man. also her rapping is so damn powerful, love it.

I don't know about the Masked Singer (she would smash it of course), but apparently she can spend hours singing in karaokes singing anything and everything (but not Babymetal's songs I think I read).
This is what she said about 'BxMxC' I have 'borrowed' this information (again) -
"SU-METAL: That was my first rap experience. For most of my recordings up until now, I would sing “la la laa” to create a sort of vocal line, and then lyric writing began based on that. But it was different for this track, they had a backing track and lyrics, and then told me to try rapping. So at first I was still trying to figure it out. In hiphop they call it…it was like…ah, I forget!
MOAMETAL: Wasn’t it…f-…fall?
SU-METAL: Uh…what was it…
KOBAMETAL (who happened to be there): Flow?
SU-METAL: Flow! (laughs) To get a feel for the flow, I made a lot of different attempts to figure out what would be good. Like how to descend and ascend in pitch, and which timing would be the best to try the pitch changes. Even for the same phrase I’d try going a little ahead of the beat or a little bit behind it, while keeping the whole track’s balance in mind."
The amount of pitch change Su-metal can do so quickly, and the perfect syncopated drops and stabs really opened my eyes to how great this song is. The first few times I heard it I thought it was just ok, but it's in my top rotation now.

BxMxC got me crazy when it was released. I think it's one of the best BABYMETAL song ever.
You're getting near to the epic trilogy songs: Starlight, Shine, Arkadia. I'm still waiting.
About their interviews however, at best are funny. I'll comment more when you review them. There is nothing you can dig about their personal life, this is anti-idol, the reverse of idol life. Their personal life is very well protected from public. The closest they got with their fans are during Asia tour, I guess, in Singapore or Jakarta.

From the beginning, BABYMETAL have felt that if a song sounds too much like a single genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song.
For the latest studio album, 'Metal Galaxy', they metaphorically traveled the galaxy in a spaceship picking up new influences.
Su has also described this album as being like a toy box, with all kinds of different things inside.
Somehow it all still sounds like BABYMETAL, and nothing else.
Her range on that album is nothing short of amazing.
Based on the songwriter and the lyrics, "BMC" almost certainly stands for "BABY METAL CYPHER", or "BABYMETAL METAL CYPHER".
They say "Tekina Metaru Saifa" (Metal Cypher like) several times in the song.
Like many folks, I still prefer "Bring Moa Chicken".
In a BABYMETAL interview in the Japanese magazine PMC, this was the first question:
Q1: How’re you feeling now?
Moa: Hungry! I need fried chickens.

It's hilarious that you've done that many babymetal videos and you've still barely scratched the surface. This is a perfect example of Su taking on a challenge and killing it. She has always pushed herself to be 200% and it shows in absolutely everything she does. Great reaction
For 'behind the scenes' type stuff, the frog video is essential BABYMETAL viewing: ua-cam.com/video/gX3l79UWaWE/v-deo.html It's less than 5 minutes, starting around the 7 minute mark in the video linked. No subtitles, but you won't need them.
While BABYMETAL are unique, there are other alternative idol groups doing similar genre bending with other types of music. BiSH, the punk band without instruments, is one of the best known. A track like TOMORROW is an easy place for a rock fan to start, or maybe jump in the deep and with something crazy like FREEZE DRY THE PASTS. If you don't mind EDM, I'd also recommend seeing some of Perfume's mind blowing live shows - they're with the same company as BABYMETAL and the production values are equally high.
Speaking of seeing Su on pop celebrity shows… you should check out Sakura Gakuin sometime.
Yes, Babymetal is unique, and wouldn't have worked without all the effort and talent of everyone involved.

@@GOTGames Those are great songs recommendations but Shine is part of the official "Trilogy Of Lights" a special set that fans took unofficially as a tribute to Mikio Fujioka (beloved Kami Band guitarist) past away and YuiMetal withdrawal, the order to listen and experiment those songs are:
- Starlight
- Shine
- Arkadia
...and those are the final songs of this Metal Galaxy album, that's why I recommended you a few more songs from Metal Resistance and then dive a little bit more on Metal Galaxy before arriving to this set of special songs, but do as you wish, just remember the right order to listen this trilogy.🦊👍

The other great Rap Metal song comes from Yui and Moa doing their Black Babymetal thing on 'Onedari daisakusen', a Rap Metal number about how girls twist their dad's around their finger to get things (a subject that, I note, the likes of Rammstein and Maiden haven't dared take on!) - ua-cam.com/video/0b7hZ-qpJKg/v-deo.html .
