Its pretty wild that Su was able to do that song so well having never rapped before. Its not the most complex rapping but its not easy to even do basic rap without sounding cringe if you don't have a lot of practice. She went straight from zero experience to a full song and somehow totally pulled it off. I think a lot of that comes from the fact that she was literally performing in front of entire arenas as a literal teenage child. If you can sing in front of 15 thousand people before most kids have a drivers license...then you aint gonna be scared to do much.

Great reaction. BxMxC is older, was released in 2019 as part of the Metal Galaxy album, but only on the Japanese version of the album. Then later in 2020, after the song became a great live act, an official video finally came out. BABYMETAL still has rap elements in the song "Iine" (MV) and in the song Pa Pa Ya (official MV).
A great song also is "Headbanger Legend 1997" , Yava" (with Kami-Band Intro) and "Megitsune" and many other else.

Great reaction. 'BxMxC' = BABYMETAL Cypher (almost certainly, but there are still some of us holding out for Bring Moa Chicken based on her answer to the first question in a fairly recent interview - "How are you feeling right now?" Moa: "Hungry, I need to eat fried chickens").
This was originally a Japan exclusive track on the third album, it was not on the international edition. However, they were playing it live in the European tour last February ... and it hits so much harder live. Su also kills it on the vocals, she doesn't need the autotune to do it either - anything like that is only on her pre-recorded harmonies etc on the backing track.
It was released as a single with this video in October last year as part of their 10th anniversary celebration. Sadly Yui left the band in 2018 after a 12 month absence for health reasons, so Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo - Su has always been lead vocalist, Moa has concentrated more on the choreo and dance ... and she is so good she can win a rap battle just by dancing. lol
They also talked about 'BxMxC' in a recent interview.
SU-METAL: That was my first rap experience. For most of my recordings up until now, I would sing “la la laa” to create a sort of vocal line, and then lyric writing began based on that.
(Typical J-Pop recording has the session singer record demo vocals once the arrangement, lyrics and melody are finished. Then the group uses that demo as a guide to do their recording. BABYMETAL doesn’t record in the J-pop style, they do it like a rockband.)
SU-METAL: But it was different for this track, they had a backing track and lyrics, and then told me to try rapping. So at first I was still trying to figure it out. In hiphop they call it…it was like…ah, I forget!
    MOAMETAL: Wasn’t it…f-…fall?
    SU-METAL: Uh…what was it…
KOBAMETAL (who happened to be there): Flow?
SU-METAL: Flow! (laughs) To get a feel for the flow, I made a lot of different attempts to figure out what would be good. Like how to descend and ascend in pitch, and which timing would be the best to try the pitch changes. Even for the same phrase I’d try going a little ahead of the beat or a little bit behind it, while keeping the whole track’s balance in mind."
For something completely different again from them to what you have heard so far I will suggest 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere in the UK 2014 - their first major event outside of Asia where, as unknown 16 and 15 year olds in a country where they hardly spoke a word of the language they opened the main stage on Saturday morning in front of 50-60,000 potentially hostile UK metalheads. This was the last song of their set of about 30 minutes, just 5 songs. You will hear at the end whether they won the crowd over.

Nice reaction & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。You were surprised at Su's rap. I have to confess that I did not believe this challenging song would be played live on stage. But they did it flawlessly with sharp choreo. (Actually this song was not challenging at all for Su-Metal & Moametal). I had to beg our Metal Queen & Princess for their forgiveness. The lyrics do not make sense a lot even to a Japanese like me. It is full of word plays, puns and rhymes. So my conclusion is, as Su-Metal once said , "Don't think, Feel!"

  • @MacTaipan

People tend to be narrow minded, so once a band has an established sound, it’s always risky to branch off. BABYMETAL don’t have that problem, as they never really had a particular sound from the beginning. They have always experimented, so a closed minded person would hardly ever start to get into them.
This song is very interesting live. Much of the autotune is gone, which really surprised me, as I thought it would be essential to the sound. But Su just replaces it with skill, and I actually like it better than the studio version. What’s even more, somehow that tiny girl manages to look absolutely legit spitting those bars on stage. She is a miracle.

Seen this live and it sounds better live . Fans where thinking could she do it live . Su never disappoints she was awesome. It was at London Apollo i seen it .
Wish i could of seen it at Legend Metal Galaxy show in Japan the stage travelling into the centre of stadium with Su on it and Moa and Momoko walking out into the fans on a runways either side of Su . The fans went nuts 🤘🦊🤘

    BABYMETAL 101
Babymetal is a Japanese group Founded in 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal).
The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (23 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka Moa-Metal (21 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a rotating trio of girls filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. These girls are known as Avengers and are Kano Fujihara (16 years old), Riho Sayashi (21 years old) ((Riho most likely is not an avenger anymore)), and Momoko Okazaki (18 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost.
    Past Formations.
    Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012)
From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them.

    Doki Doki Morning
    Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH spelled i i n e)
    Headbangya
    Babymetal Era (2012-2017)
Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own.
Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moa-Meta, and Yui-Metal, Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui.

The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era
In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child.
In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand)
In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history.
Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all)
    Distortion
Starlight (Don’t let overzealous fans fool you, this is OFFICIALLY not a tribute to anyone. A lot of fan speculation, end of story)
    Metal Galaxy Era
The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH.
    Music Videos of this Era
    Pa Pa Ya
    Elevator Girl
    Shanti Shanti
    Da Da Dance
    (Avenger confusion)
Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before.
Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert was well worth it.
    COVID Era
COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger. All shows they have done in 2020 and in 2021 have had Momoko as the Avenger.

Another great reaction. Thanks for your comments about the fans of BM. Yes, I’ve found BM fans to mostly be some of the nicest people. Even in a massive mosh pit, I’ve always felt perfectly safe and happy amongst BM fans. It’s nice waiting all day in queues at venues for BM shows with the other fans.
In this song, Su does some amazing vocal gymnastics at the breakdown and she performs them live with very minimal effects and just the normal backing. The autotune is used for effect, not for any necessity. She performs this song live and it sounds spot on.
Oh and this song is an absolute BANGER live. I’ve heard it performed live four times and they absolutely kill it.

    ⚡ 💕 / 🕶️ 🎤 🍗
Only two members now, Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi).
Original member Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) officially left the group in October 2018, but she had not been on stage with BABYMETAL for a year before that.
They had various supporting dancers in 2018, and settled in with three rotating "avengers" for 2019, 2020 and 2021 so far.
This is a non-singing role that was filled by Riho Sayashi (former Morning Musume), Kano Fujihira (former Sakura Gakuin) and Momoko Okazaki (former Sakura Gakuin).
Both Riho and Kano has been busy with other projects, and Momoko has been the featured avenger (support dancer) for the last eighteen BABYMETAL appearances.
You'll always see three people on stage whenever this song is performed live, even if the music video has only Su and Moa.
Moa sings backup vocals on many songs, but isn't featured much in this one.

They are down to just two girls. The lead singer, Su-Metal, sings lead on about 90 percent of the songs. The other young lady, Moa-Metal, is good singer but not really as good for fronting a metal band. She does a lot of background vocals. She along with former member, Yui-metal, sing lead on about four songs.

You had me howling with laughter (you did explain I know...) when I realised you'd Taken Moa as the two "sidekicks" - but I do understand - I just watch WAY too many korean and japanese films/dramas and so any problems over facial recognition - you kinda made my day 😆. They do incorporate hiphop and rap in some of their songs (e.g. IINE and ONEDARI DAISAKUSEN (1st album), also in PA PA YA and DA DA DANCE (3rd album)), but BxMxC is their only full blown hiphop rap metal.
I believe this one was originally meant to be sung by the two side girls, but one of them had to depart in 2018 due to health issues, so then the main singer took over and sung the entirity instead when the song is recorded, released, and performed in 2019.
Fun fact, Babymetal won the award from Loudwire for the most dedicated fans in 2015, 2016, and 2017 :)

Fighter (Official Music Video) - Chapter 5 - SUMO CYCO (almost reminds me of this video concept)
    ua-cam.com/video/awfrxaWvFUw/v-deo.html
Lead singer is female, and was pressured to do pop music, and toured with Britney Spears. After the tour, she wanted to metal, but they didn't want her to. But she did it anyways on her own. A very underrated band. All their songs are decent. You might not like that song I posted, but might like another. Saw them live and they opened for Jinjer, and they blew me away live. When I saw Sumo Cyco, they were the third band to play. As, they played the whole place was packed. It wasn't packed for the first two bands. Then when Jinjer got on stage, people started leaving. And, people love Jinjer, and is more popular and famous then Sumo Cyco. I don't know if their recorded music does that justice. But live, they were clean and heavy. Kind of the difference between hearing Metallica on CD and then seeing them live. Metallica is awesome live, and sounds even heavier than their albums.
First time on your channel by the way. Just because of this song, or actually this group. Babymetal is probably one of the best reaction videos. Everyone is always surprised, and I don't ever remember a reactor not liking it a lot. I been listening to Babymetal close to 8 years. Try Doki Doki Morning from Babymetal that is when they were real young and just starting.
Another couple of cool songs from other bands that will blow your mind if you haven't already reacted to them. They are both instrumental groups, but the music is insanely really good.

Great reaction Sean. As previously mentioned, besides this venture into rap, BABYMETAL tackles many other sub-genres of metal. They were recently featured by another artist, 'BRING ME THE HORIZON' on their album "Post Human: Survival Horror" (released Oct. 30, 2020) which features collabs with several different artists. Probably the most talked about & well received song is "Kingslayer", BMTH's collaboration with BABYMETAL:
    ua-cam.com/video/fKyXvNkGQKc/v-deo.html
The backstory on BMTH & BABYMETAL is as follows. About 6 or 7 years ago, on one of BABYMETAL'S first festivals outside of Japan, they met Oli Sykes of 'BRING ME THE HORIZON'. Oli noticed how shy the girls were (they spoke almost no English) & how uncomfortable they might be in such a male-dominated genre, he made it a point to make them feel accepted. Very cool. There's a cute picture of him showing the girls the BABYMETAL t-shirt he was wearing (& would later perform in). Oli Sykes on BABYMETAL, "...when you see them, it makes you really happy."
A collaboration between the two groups had been discussed for a few years & in November of 2019 BABYMETAL had BMTH open for them in Japan for 4 huge sold-out shows.
Also befriending & offering early support to BABYMETAL; Metallic, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Corey Taylor/Slipknot, just to name a few.

    Bring Moa Chickens!!! Lol!
So the unofficial census is that BMC stands for BABYMETAL Cypher (hence the rap battle feel of the MV), but many fans prefer Bring Moa Chickens! Grington 300 300 (yet again) left a wonderful comment explaining why. Until BABYMETAL come out and officially say its BABYMETAL Cypher, I will continue to stan Bring Moa Chickens! Lol!
While this is their first song that's fully rapped, they have delved into the genre in part for a couple of their other songs. PAPAYA has a rap section done by featured guest F. Hero (Fucking Hero, a Thai rapper who's pretty big in his home country). And then they also have a small section in one of their earliest songs (I believe the 2nd or 3rd), Iine. Thats a capital i, not a lowercase L...so its pronounced ee-neh, which translates to something along the lines of "Its all good" or "so good". If/when you delve into their earliest works, keep in mind that they were literally 11 and 12 when they started, and had never even heard metal beforehand.
For now, though, I'm gonna backup the suggestion for Ijime Dame Zettai, IDZ, live at Sonisphere 2014. Someone left the link in Grington 300 300's post. Ijime Dame Zettai roughly translates as Bullying, No, Absolutely, but its been called Bullying, No More, Forever (or No more Bullying, Forever) by the band so...
    Looking forward to the next!
    Kitsune dao! \m/

Great reaction there only 2 girls now which are Sumetal and Moametal. Unfortunately in 2017 Yuimetal hag health issues and her docbtor told her she couldn’t perform in October 2028 she officially quit stating that her condition hasn’t improved enough. Nobody knows what her condition was.

The vocals were all Suzuka Nakamoto. She is the lead singer and does most of the vocals on most of the songs. The group was formed around her. This was her first ever time rapping.
There are only two of them since 2018. Yui Mizuno retired for health reasons. It's unknown what her health issue was. It's possible she may return. Or at least if it's not possible we have not been informed why. It was reported at a stock meeting by her talent agency that she had recovered physically and was still under contract. If they lied about that it would be a crime. That is fraud since she is an asset. Yui Mizuno issued a statement when she retired from Babymetal that it was because of health and in the future she wanted to pursue her own career. Whatever that means. When I said it's possible she may return I'm just saying that those things happen. Black Sabbath got back together for a while after 30 years.

it was not in fact reported that she had recovered. it was reported that she was recovering. japanese can be very vague and subtle and is easy to misinterpret.
