*Some notes:*
Avici is the lowest point of hell in Buddhism, written as "Abi" in Japanese. "His hands" is referring to Enma, who is mentioned in the next two lines. Enma is the Japanese name for Yama, who is the god who watches over hell in Buddhism. It's also important to note that the chanting in the back of Baiken's theme is a Buddhist sutra. (EDIT) As pointed out by Lunatic Nico Bunny, it is the Mantra of light! I confirmed with my Buddhist uncle. The lyric that comes after it is "singing in hell purifies the six roots of perception," another Buddhism thing. Here's the English TL for the sutra:
Praise be to the flawless, all-pervasive illumination of the great mudra [or seal of the Buddha]. Turn over to me the jewel, lotus and radiant light.
*Misc trivia:*
The paper Baiken wipes her blade off with at 3:06 is called a nuguigami (lit. "wiping paper). It's made from a particular, high-quality material that's specifically for cleaning the blood off your sword. The move she does at 3:28 is likely battoujutsu, where you sheath your blade and release it extremely quickly for a powerful attack. This was a popular move in the Edo period.

I really love how Faust’s super turns Baiken’s face into a Hannya.
fun fact: it uses a completely different texture I believe. Also looking through the mesh files it looks like they were originally gonna go even further and add actual fangs and horns, but was scrapped. The actual name of the mesh file is "hannya".
@@FlynnNeverwin Yah, anything that pushes the animation super far in these games can have a new mesh created for it, in past games and strive this has been used for things like the dust particles, Faust's Dust transformation, etc

At 2:18, you can see that the house has the same slash mark the one in her instant kill gets. It indicates that her outro happens in the same place and maybe just after her instant kill!

Baiken mentions living with and caring for Delilah as one of her reasons for becoming a bit more chill! Which is very interesting! It appears she’s taken on a big sister roll for her and wants to set a good example!

This is interesting as part of Baiken’s trauma is that she lost her family, so it’d make sense that she’d want to be the parent she wished she had

It's nice to see her becoming slowly wiser and mellower as time goes on. Guess that's what her achieving "enlightment" meant. She's still kinda cold, but she's not outright mean or nasty anymore.
Yeah, she's strong and focused, but no longer walking the path of bloodlust and revenge. I'm very happy for her
I mean I consider her trip to samurai showdown cannon. She was at peace there and just tested her strength against other samurai. Even in her ending she had some drinks with villagers and laughed before returning home. In strive she is calmer and less bloodlusty. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

I'm so happy to hear that, after decades of bitterness, she has finally broken free, to use her martial arts to walk an enlightened path as opposed to one of bloodlust and self destruction.
In Xrd, she always seemed to enjoy fighting deep down, but it was always dominated by her single-minded thirst for revenge against That Man.

I get the impression that now she has the same ability as Nago which would mean she can actually beat Happy Chaos. Would be a nice ending given how long she has been gunning for revenge

I can't believe that there's not even a single unique interaction with Happy Chaos. He's the guy that destroyed Baiken's village, the reason she's missing an eye. He's who she's been hellbent on getting revenge on for the entire series! Even if she only learned it was Chaos disguised as That Man instead of the real Asuka during Rev 2, it's absurd that there isn't even a single acknowledgement between either of these characters.
To be fair though, the Baiken we get in Strive is someone who has moved past her single minded desire for vengeance.
Also feel like those interactions could be reserved because they spoil the events of Story Mode 2.

Frankly outside a videogame context, I don't think Baiken should ever actually meet Happy Chaos, doing so would defeat the point of Strive's main theme.
That instead of trying to find a purpose in an explicit omnipresent goal in life, rather one should find that purpose in themselves.

Baiken and anji have something, just a question I don’t know the history
They're supposed to be siblings, though Anji asking if she's falling for him seems a little weird. 🤨

@@enavy04 Could you actually check the game story modes instead of reading an outdated wiki from 20 years ago. The English localisers for GGX were shit, calling someone ‘nee-san’ aka ‘big sis’ is like calling someone in the Yakuza ‘big bro’. Anji is familiar with Baiken, and was making fun of how rough she is by calling her that.
They’re basically gender-inverted version of the ‘samurai on a vengeance quest and the geisha who comforts and heals his heart’ Japanese romance archetype story. Some people keep insisting they’re not meant to be romantic, but they’re basically going against the creator of Guiity Gear himself, Daisuke. Some of his very first published Guilty Gear character art are of Baiken and Anji together, like Anji offering a piggyback ride to Baiken; or both of them chilling at a tavern after a meal together and Baiken visibly smiling at Anji goofing around.
Basically in every story mode of every game where they’re both in, they will meet, Anji will stop Baiken from going too far (at one point he offer his own life to Baiken to stop her from chasing Asuka/That Man cos he was scared she would lose and die); and then they will travel together for a while. Baiken, before Strive, only really tolerates Anji. Even when she is very angry and fights him, she will calm down faster with him and even compromise whatever her goal is with Anji very quickly. In GGX, she literally insulted every other person she wins against (even May, a child back then); but will just say “I tolerate you” to Anji and compliment his skills, even tho he lost.
But cos of Baiken before Strive REALLY wanted vengeance on That Man, other than talking and travelling with Anji, she really showed no other obvious interest. Anji tries to stay with her as a bodyguard in general but they end up going separate ways between games.
And now in Strive, in her character starter guide, they put Anji there for the tether demo and said “the further away, the more they get pulled back together” lol. Anji’s whole theme song is literally about himself and Baiken (both of them are from the same colony and both experienced the destruction of the colony) and how much Baiken affected him and means to him.
And now we have their unique interactions. Baiken is actually mellowed out A LOT now and stopped focusing on vengeance, so who knows, Anji might finally have a shot! She’s kinda flirting back now. Hopefully the second story DLC will give them some story too.

@@SlvrWlf88 then that should go to show they put a lot of work for each individual character and probably didn't give them enough time to put her in at launch. All fighting games nowadays are gonna have dlc, and GGS isn't going to be an exception.
