This is how they're meant to be: thrashed around and raced. Not sitting in some garage collecting dust. It's got nicks and scratches, but it's way cooler and much more approachable than a lot of those Barrett Jackson auction cars. At least the owner ACTUALLY DRIVES IT. Everything from the sound to the look of it is just perfect. Amazing vid. Probably in the top 10 best muscle car vids on UA-cam.
amen to that cant stand thsoe car jsut sitting ther being sold for million to old man who NEVER NEVER DRIVE EM !!! get out the garage and smoke some tires thats whatits made for !!
@@Thevacomaticvacuumcorner what collectors don't understand is that people are interested in older cars. They're just not into putting a down payment on a house to be able to afford one. When they get old and sell them for peanuts because no one wants them, it's because they never bothered to share the interest in them. No one would pass owning a 69 Charger or Mach 1. But blowing + $75,000 US on a +50 year old car isn't worth it. I hope they become affordable again. It'd suck to lose these cars forever.
I have a 69 special Deluxe and I stopped washing it. I decided I like it dirty for some reason so I get what you're saying.
Look at the description. It got painted etc and probably is off to the next owner
Well said
All those gm muscle cars were not only the fastest, but the best looking too.
b.b.b.b. butt.... Dom Toretto in the fast and furious. charger bro!
people in this day and age are seriously ignorant. these cars were beasts. they're very underrated
Every body knows mopars were the fastest
@@Yo-mamashouse Maybe in your library dream world. Chevrolet is the manufacturer with the most race wins.
@@Yo-mamashouse Absolutely not. The LS6 Chevelle, '69 COPO cars and the '70 GSX were the fastest muscle cars in the quarter-mile.
@@stefanovichmichael9686 i mean yeah, if you pay the right people to change the rules and ban what you cant develop :P
A burnout that made the Surgeon General cry.
Tossed a spare 455 I had in a truck, as a temporary replacement three years ago...now I can't let it go. These old big blocks prove that there's no replacement for raw displacement!

The Stage 1 is the best of the GM 455's by far. The one car that could give a Hemi Cuda/Challenger a run for the money(off the dealer lot).
Plus nearly 500 lb ft of torque down low in the power band is just fun
love the powershift while fishtailing. bad ass.
Yeah he's really cool, huh. You're cool too, huh.
there is NOTHING like the sound of a big block buick. favorite muscle car ever built.
That thing is healthy
Yeah boy. BOP 455's had the balls and was well built.
As for the cars of the 70's... all steel and comfort even, miss the days...
Q-jet carbs and shift kits in a TH400.
My old man had a 1971 Buick Centurion 455 coverable. I worked on it. It pinned the needle plus... Tires were bald. Loved that car.

a buick 455 is a super healthy motor. that motor in good tune, could put down most bbc, mopars, etc. it was that strong.
True story, Milwaukee Wisconsin from 1973 to 1979 there was only 4 cars in the city of Milwaukee northside that could out run my 1970 Buick GS 455 stage 1, and 3 of them was my friends cars, because at Union Grove Great Lakes dragaway Racine Wisconsin , I used to lay down 9:20 ETS and a quarter of a mile, and on the street if a person money and mouth was big enough, but just know, it wasn't nothing regular about the funky granny, Mopar roadrunners Chevy Chevelle Camaros Fords Mustangs Fairlanes GTs Pontiac GTO Trans Am Oldsmobiles 442, I had friends with all of these cars and they all ate my dust
Your Buford is my hero
Been watching this video for years now.
Still my favorite!
OMG that car is possessed !
Those Buicks were beasts, torque monsters!
I had a 1972 Buick skylark, only had a 350 motor, no posi, but that car could do one hell of a hole shot.
Hi people in the past. This is precisely what I was told I would be watching. Perfect, beware of the click bait, videos, in the future. Anyone else here in 2023?
Saw this first time tonight. Watched it another 10 times. I'll watch it again. LOVE it. 2024
This is mouth-watering. I need this car.
That's what a muscle car does!!! You don't hear buzzing, you hear GROWLING! Eat the Earth up!! Shit and get dude!!!
I owned a 1969 Skylark. I love that the reverse light was in the middle of the back bumper. Might have been the most fun I've ever had in a car .
Mine was a 72 with a VERY strong, built 455. It was a stage 1 and could be scary as hell. Sounded mean at idle.
Other then a 1969 wildcat this is my favorite muscle car ever!
GOD,, that was beautiful
Best Buick burnout on UA-cam. Hands down.
Hell yeah! Dunno if you will see this, but you should upload more of this! My dad has a legit 1970 GS 455 Stage 1, in burgundy mist. Needs to be restored, and that’s gonna be his retirement project 🤟
Pops also has a 70 Buick GS stage one but has shaker hood and Muncie Rock crusher 4-speed.... White with black interior, all original and stock
. As i have heard many others say over the years, the sound of that . engine is a thrill- a masculine motor. -Josef
American muscle at its finest
This is my favorite deleted scene from Mad Max...
One of my favourite videos on the net
Just got me a 455 to throw in my 71 skylark can't wait to get it rebuilt and all the stage 1 upgrades put on it
Nothing like Buick torque
Muscle will never sound this good again.
Have come back to this video many times over years! My fav!
When buick made muscle cars..
I fucking hate how every goddamn car is a crossover now a days.
In 1986 we had a 1971 442 that did the longest burnouts...no brake stands...from a stop, no brakes, just punch it and it would lay posi for probably 60, 70, 80 foot estimating.
GM' big block line up was awesome!
Up there with the most beautiful cars ever made. Along with the 68 Charger and the 67 GTO.
The best thing about the muscle cars of the 60s and 70s was the fact they were a little dangerous and unpredictable. You really had to know how to drive them. Newer muscle cars are too idiot proof. Take away the danger, take away the fun.
One of the most not mentioned muscle cars, nice
I've broke the tires lose doing 45 mph. The whole point of this video was the smoke show, which unfortunately was drifting away with the wind that day.
My fav. Loved the way you fanned the throttle during burnout...
I am 63 now,but when I was 17 I had a 1970 GS 455 Stage1 convertible that was in 1975. So I can attest to that car running like that plus breaking the tires loose at 45 mph. And yes they we’re the baddest muscle car on the road.
I got 2 68 rivieras with 455 engines. Still have the original 430
Is the 1970/1971 GSX the Most Wanted Car?
For me it is a true work of art, a monster of torque.
If I had to choose, I would definitely take a 1971 GSX and it is black, I like the 1971 front grille better, even though it has 15 hp less power.
What a beautiful thing.
I'm a die hard olds guy. Owned a few of them now. BUT the GM heavy weights 442 and the Skylark. WE ride good and we run REALLY GOOD.. to heck with the Chevells and Judges.... from Chevy and Pontiac.
most badass video on the internet
Jesus Christ that impressed 😮 the hell out of me
I don't care how big your balls are if you ever driven a 455 stage 1 OR are fortunate to own one you know...you KNOW! YOU HAVE TO LET GO OF THE GAS PEDAL like he did on this video cuz that torque on this badass buick 455 is a beast
My cousin in Detroit has a 69 I think it is a convertible GSX! Very rare car only handful left and his is show quality!
BUICK Fast with Class
thats one bad ass Skylark i love my Rivieras 455 POWER
... just got from work; JUST HAD TO SEE THIS VIDEO AGAIN!!!
I LOVE THE WAY THAT TA PERFORMANCE MOTOR SOUNDS ... AND THE WAY IT THREW YOU & THAT DAMN SKYLARK AROUND LIKE A RAG-DOLL!!! TRULY DEVASTATING VIDEO!!!!!
That was impressive. Those cars are fast. Nice vid!
...and Jeff, I think the Chevelle wants to be a Buick. More usable power/torque along with luxury. Chevy's really for the common man ;-)
according to a hot rod issue in july 1970 they took a 454 chevelle 4 spd and 4.11 gears, slicks and tested it..they recorded times in the 10 second range and then tuned it some...they said it rans 10`s consistently and only stopped when the tranny blew...I will have to look in my old books to get the exact month..I always like to talk to people who know facts about cars and what they run...good stuff...jim in ohio
I have a friend with a 70 chevelle 454 4 speed. I always borrowed it instead of renting a car when i visited. The chevelle was nothing even close to the power of a stage 1 455 like mine. It had power, and alot compared to most cars, and most people never drive a stage 1 buick. chevelles are everywhere. I cant ever see a stock chevelle 454 ss running 10s, not from my driving experience in one.
@@M4W2009 No stock Chevelle ever ran 10's...and neither did any stock Stage 1 Buick Skylark. I've raced and beat Chevelles and Buicks in the past and my car ran low 12's. it takes some serious drivetrain and suspension mods to get a heavy car into the 10's, especially without forced induction or nitrous.
@@segarza A stage 2 outfitted GS could. I think it was Kenne-Bell Buick-Chev-Olds in California were shipped a stage 2 package. They installed the package took the car to the strip threw slicks on it ran high 10's. Legend has it. No force induction. No nitros. It was dealer installed or buy the package over the counter. Just like in1969 for the 400.
@@richardm.7039 yeah, but that was just more modifications to get it that quick. It was not the typical version you ran into on the street. I love all the muscle cars from back then. I've lost more times than I've won with my small block 66 nova, but man it was a time to remember! Last time I lost, I ran against a 90s version mustang. Seemed rather mild. Until he hit the beans. Turns out he had a Paxton blower under the hood. I actually would have taken him but I went sideways off the line and had to let off to get the car straight again and that cost me the race.
Best burnout in automotive history! I need an engine like this in my Electra.
It is not auto
Yes, it’s not an automatic, but behind that engine a stout turbo 400 automatic might hold together better, but it would be less fun. Most drivelines including mine would have to be beefed up to be reliable with that kind of engine power! That ain’t any Toy yoda!!
Ahhh I had the 455 in my Electra it was a 72 4 door. Just got rid of it. Man that thing was fun!
Yes, unfortunately my Electra is a 1977 with a 350, automatic, and 2:41-1 gears. Acceleration is not good!! But with that gearing, it will bury the needle in second gear. (85 mph speedometer) Eats up interstates like it was born there!!
@@fredanddebramacdonald2445 My '75 Riviera is the same. 2.73 rear I'm pretty sure and auto as well. Chews up highways and it's a blast. Like it was made to drive highways. Interested to see what it could do with a higher gear ratio off the line though. Quick as it is!
GSX posted as fastest car ever run in Hot rod Mag
Major props for keeping it under control 👊👊👊
Clown was steering left to right thinking he's got a real wild car. Wow!
Gives me my childhood Dukes of Hazard vibe! Truly inspiring... major Buick fan!
Now that is how the shit is done... public roads, stock, all American, no car polish, and in the desert.
now that was badass. love the fishtail all over the place
i wish no one liked these cars .so i could afford one or two.I don't care if any other cars of that era could whip a gs or gsx ,i would take a buick everytime
Excellent video! Massive power! I love Buicks!
Nice burnout,I couldn’t have done it better.
Greatest car ever made
I like your style brother that is one mean nasty looking GS very very cool car man,you enjoy that bad sumbich all you can
Kickass. I wish I couldve seen the tire marks that thing laid down! 😎😀
Why don't you go and try to find them. Then you can smell the rubber. That would be cool, huh?
@@jeffreyjohn2037 yeah, sure thing. OR.... I could just make my own 🤣
@@SlickWorks do a smoke show bro! 👍
@@jeffreyjohn2037 If you want to see the weirdest smoke show. Check out my update episode (before the shop build episodes) Chevette burnouts til tires explode. Pretty entertaining 😂 subs appreciated 🤙🏻
I remember a time when roads were littered with burnout marks
Gsx, skylark , & gns . My regals big bros
The 455 was a much lighter engine than the Hemi or the GM Rat motors. I believe they had a 2 bolt main which reduced weight by almost 60lbs. I remember a guy who had a small block 1969 350 GS supposedly pushing 280hp. When he had nitrous hooked up to the car and changed his gears to .355 that car was beating Big Blocks. In every race he was able to catch the other car in the last 400 feet and win.
I bought a 70 GS 350 in 1978, with 85,000 all highway miles. Loved that car for another 10 years and wish I still had it today.
Now that's a burnout!
Those gm 455s were monsters !! Had a delta 88 with one
Geeezzz 😄 That's one of the biggest burnouts I have seen yet.
Purring like a kitten
THIS is a full send ladies and gents!!!!!
That’s a lot of torque ❤
Nice smoke show. TQ is King!
holy shit! I LOVE Buicks!
Burn outs with studded snow tires were the way to go back when I was a kid. LOL. ..... Preferably at a intersection LOL
I'm not a big car guy..... but..... that sounded..... SWEEEEETTTT!!!!😂😂😂
Somebody's going to have to patch that double yellow line 😁
Absolutely awesome, I found an original
Gs 455 for my dad to buy, around 30
Yrs ago. For roughly $3500 bucks. It’s green with a black
Vinyl
Top. As bought. But went from , roughly14-15 secs. In the qtr down to Loww. 9’s. And this was naturally aspirated In the mid 90’s. If you want to see it pop a wheelie at full weight on l, only 10.5s. Google it. Bowling green. Hot rod nationals.
Those tires never had a chance . That car is mean .
Another brake dragger. I had a 1970 buick GS 455 stage 1 for a short while in the late 70's. With that legendary Buick torque, I could just mash the gas at a standing start and smoke the tires all the way thru high gear, never had to drag a brake.
I swear these things are living
Had a 70 Skylark Custom, 350 2bbl,
one wheel wonder in HS. Early 70's.
25yr later at a reunion 4 friends asked if I remembered how long the burnout was that we paced off one Saturday night. 😂 312 ft 🎉
Reminds me of smoking fox body 91-93 mustangs in my moms , 1971, white pearl interior. Lime mist green. Conv. GS, 350 show car . In bowling geeen Kentucky she was Heavy but, fresh rebuild, Hemi killer cam, headers, etc. Them 5.0’s didn’t know what hit em!! And when they were stupid enough to
Line up against a turbo regal/ GN! 😂😂👋🏻👋🏻
zoom and shaking camera is soo realistic, I want more
That was just beautiful.
I love it the speed limit sign says 45 lol
Buick power
Walking the Dog on that burn out. 🔥
what a legend
There goes that set of tires.
Big block, Small block, Ford, Dodge,Chevy...etc. We love MUSCLE CARS AND ROARING V8's
I need it!
Take it to the track Jethro.
Something about performance Buicks, intoxicating.
PUTS A BIG A.. SMILE ON MY FACE 😁
It's a runner 🦁
That is one nasty stage 1 omg

Music to my ears.
I had a 71 Riviera, in high school, same motor. rocker arms broke alot, just stamped steel. hard to find performance parts back then.
I love cars
