    THE CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical. It's a very interesting gun. It's heavy. It has an extremely low bore axis. And the net result is a gun that shoots very soft......it really does have an awesome recoil impulse. And priced around $700, it begs the question......is it as good as a 2011?

    Manually decocking the SP-01 is not as scary or dangerous as one might think. If you dry fire (and you should), then you canwork decocking into those practice sessions and you’ll never have an issue 🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️

      Manually decocking is really no big deal. I totally agree. I’ve done it with my cz’s for a while. Cz 82 and cz 75 b. People tend to think it’s really scary and sketchy but it’s better than appendix concealed carrying a striker…which is way more sketchier than some realize.

      @@KeanonGilliamSlang369 talking about how both 1911 and Cz 75 both have a manual safety, quick question about the Sp-01 can you get that customized by Cz cause I may need to do a few practical customization to it, I need to be left handed lol, yes I’m southpaw, and can you safely shoot the Sp-01 in single action without wearing out the trigger spring cause that’s a common issue I’ve heard when it comes to the shadow series

    Playing with fire? Seriously? Very funny. Do you have a decocker on revolver? Or what about lever-action rifle? Sometimes I like to kinda provoke people of your sort saying: "What is a decocker for anyway? If you have your thumb you don't need it, if not you can't use it." And of course I don't mean it really seriously-each to his own and I don't want to push my habits or opinions to others-, however there were tens or perhaps hundreds of gun types working in SA/DA mode without a decocker and they all worked and were used just fine. The original CZ-75 is an excellent example.
    Out of my CZs the newest two are P-09 and P-01 which both come with Omega trigger that allows to choose either decocker or safety, and I have installed safety on both and still am using them in SA/DA mode (P-01 being currently my main carry gun). I decock them with my strong hand thumb, that is one-handedly, exactly as I've been doing it with my revolvers and my 1911s for decades.
    Greetings from Prague, Czechia.

    • @Dan-di9jd
      @Dan-di9jd 2 роки тому +1

      Completely agreed. However, I share the same concern the guy had at first. I was worried about decocking it since my Shadow 2 didn't even have a fire pin safety on it. But what I did was practiced at home with an empty gun and now I'm pretty good at it and can do it almost second nature.
      You have to think about how the fire pin works. It is not sitting on the primer but instead it has to travel a considerable distance to strike the primer. The hammer will strike the fire pin hard such that it hyperextends a little out the fire pin hole to strike the primer. It takes a considerable force to do that and when you have your thumb over the hammer to ride it, it blunts that force a little such that it won't do that.
      Your comment about revolvers made me remember about Colt SAA. When they first came out, the hammer would sit directly on the cap and what would happen is if something hit the hammer, it could fire the gun. So what early people did was kept an empty chamber such that the hammer can be let down on the empty chamber. Later models wouldn't do this. You just have to understand the mechanics of your firearms to really understand if something is safe or not.

    • @Dan-di9jd
      @Dan-di9jd 2 роки тому +2

      You also bring up an excellent point. I hate how youtubers review firearms they don't actually own. It's good the guy disclosed that but at the same time I feel that is unfair because you're going to compare it to a firearm you have and see how it stacks up with that. And that was exactly what the guy did. The CZ75 is quite possibly the best 9mm pistol you can buy and it's very hard to beat. But it is not as popular in the USA for some reason as it is in other parts of the world.

    Funny how the Cz 75 came out earlier than a 2011 and more reliable than a 2011 and less finicky, also the Cz sp-01 is meant to be shot in DA/SA if you keep shooting it in SA it will wear out the trigger spring faster of course you can get everything you want from Cz on their 75 series and they will do it

    I stopped beating around the bush and installed some Cajun Gun Works parts in my SP-01, along with some slim Lok Grips. Now I have a SAO duty gun with a nice trigger and excellent ergos. It is as reliable as a sun rise, and the weight and ergos keep it super flat and fast. I carry full-size guns anyways because I don't like the ergos of tiny handguns. With a Kore gun belt and Craft Leather, I carry my SP-01 regularly. It is the only 9mm that has ever inspired me enough to actually bump my Glock 20 out of line every once in a while. So from what I understand where the CZ sp-01 fits in is apparently several European countries that used the CZ 75 which is been around for quite some time and is a tried-and-true platform those countries went to CZ in the Czech Republic and said we love the cz-75 but we want to update it, we want an updated version of the cz-75 that can compete with the Beretta M9 A1 and the end result was the CZ sp-01. So hands down if you're going to compare it to something throw it up against fair competition in the Beretta 92fs series. At least you're comparing Apples to Apples instead of comparing it to something like a 2011 or 1911 which is kind of apples to oranges the 1911 and 2011 is always going to have a better trigger because it's Single Action.

    I wanted this gun until I bought a CZ P-01. Not a bad gun but I already had an LTT Beretta. I would have had to get the full bag of trigger upgrades from Cajun Gunworks, and new grips, and new sights to get it close to the LTT Beretta. I got a Centurion for $712 on Gunbroker. No need to spend ~$1000. If I bought a SP-01 first and trained with it I likely would have been a CZ only household. I like the brand enough to buy a CZ-P07 to customize as a fun gun.

    I never understood the theory behind a double action without a decocker. Yes, you get second strike capabilities, and they are great for dry fire, but I have the decocker versions of both the P01 and SP01, both Cajunized and cut for Optic. I also have a Staccato and the CZ Cajun triggers will give a 1911 trigger a good run for the money. Nothing beats a 1911 trigger, but a DA/SA Custom CZ trigger is very very close. A decocker, 6lb DA, 3lb SA is a SWEET combination.

      You should look into getting the baby brother of the sp01, the Cz P01. It's a 3.75 inch barrel, with a much smaller size also, recoil is still very manageable and it's EXTREMELY accurate even with it's smaller size. It's PERFECT for concealed carry, the IDEAL choice for a DA/SA carry pistol. Please check them out, they're AWESOME!!!

    I mean Essentially it is like a 1911 with the safety. So not a big deal at all. Sp01 compact came with a safety and decocker. I tried the safety and it wasn’t for me.
    But the tactical sp01 does come with a decocker. I can’t decide if I want that or the shadow 2. I don’t shoot competition but I’d be happy with either one.
    Also wouldn’t mind p09. But I like to be able to change the grips.

    I don't know why they discontinued the polymer framed Phantom model. Its so much lighter and I believe the decocker model was the only configuration. The better CZ Shadows (1 or 2, TSO, Blue or Orange) are IMHO nicer than even the 2K+ 1911s or 2011s. CZ especially has the double stack metal gun figured out. At best you might say that the 2011 could have a marginally better trigger than a tuned CZ, but the CZ has more advantages, especially price and taking into account the trouble free cheap magazines. And the SP-01 and 75b are also higher quality/more reliable out of the box than the equivalently priced lower end 1911s and they are double stacked at the base level. And again IMHO, the grip feels better. Of course YMMV.

    I drank the CZ coolaid, I just got the baby brother of the SP-01 a few weeks ago, the P-01. I’m ashamed to admit I shoot it better than my Walther Q5 match 😕😬. That internal slide rail really does something. The stock sights suck but it’s reliable and a great shooter, and a full 12 ounces lighter than the SP-01 since it has an aluminum frame. I think it’s going to be my new edc actually. Good review! Wish these still cost $700 lol. They are going for a lot more than that lately.

  • @frankholub4673
    @frankholub4673 3 роки тому +1

    I've unfortunately had nothing but problems with my two SP-01 tacticals. First one had a weak extractor spring that caused constant FTE's during competitions, had to replace with a Wolff increased power spring. Issues disappeared after that. Then the firing pin retaining pin sheared during another match, totally bricking the gun until I replaced it with a Cajun Gun Works reinforced retaining pin. Then, the front night sight vial broke and I sent it in to CZ for a repair. They just straight up sent me a new gun because spare parts were short at the time. The new gun has the exact same weak extractor spring problem as the other one, constant FTE's. This experience has me rather unimpressed with the SP-01, which is a bummer since it is otherwise a super ergonomic, accurate, and smooth shooting gun.

  • @drew5337

    I had a huge gripe with my SP01 as a USPSA gun for that exact reason. I don't like pulling the trigger, and thus defeating the FP safety, to lower to half cock to start a stage. And the manual safety on my gun was nothing like a positive engaged 1911 safety. The SP01 Tactical (decocker) with some Cajun Gun Works breathed on it, is quite lovely though.
