- How to make your Dieffenbachia bushy or how to grow them fast? Here in this video, I have shared few tips to grow a HUGE Dieffenbachia plant. You would see complete transformation in the video.
Dieffenbachia or Dumb cane is is one of the most popular indoor or houseplants. They are low maintenance plants but not all times they grow well. Watch this video in case your Dieffenbachia plant is not growing well.

Actually, I added the lines about that while preparing the first script for the video. But, as the video was already long, thought to skip that part. Here are the sentences from my first Script - "I would say, Dieffenbachia is an amazing plant with a great heart that forgives too easily :-) Though, many people in past have compared this plant with poison, I think it wasn't a right thing to do so (many did just to go viral). I do agree, they are EXTREMELY TOXIC to pets and human and should not be CHEWED (any parts of the plant) at all. So, please be careful if you have kids or pets, specially Cats at your home. I would say, please keep the plant in a place where kids and pets can't reach that area."
I believe, I should have added these lines in the video :-( I wish, I had enough footage to represent the same. In fact, Egon (our pet dog) was also not interested! It's too here and he prefers to stay inside unless it's a rainy and somewhat cooler day :-)

Glad you liked my plants and thank you so much for your kind words, really appreciated! Actually, flowering plants (which need direct sunlight) have different characteristics than the most of the houseplants. And, I am sorry to say that, it may not be possible to revive them. It's because, many Geraniums varieties are not perennial (though it's said in many sources). And from my experience I would say that - The Summer varieties don't do well in Winter and vice versa. So, it's a good idea to grow them again for Winter blooms. My Geraniums (which I planted in winter 2022) was still surviving till July first week. It has been raining on constant basis and finally they said me good bye. Too difficult environment for them to sustain. For winter, I would start again from Sept onwards. Either I would grow from seeds and buy saplings, which are cheap.
Having said that, I know that your growing environment is different than mine. And obviously, they would look much better in cooler climate even if it's Summer. So, if you want to keep them alive n do well, you can use some Growth Promoter + Fertilizers instead of repotting at this time. I wish, I could have provided you more inputs :-( But still, I hope it helps. Wish you all the best!
I love diffen. They are usually easy to grow if you keep water in check. That's why I use sand and Vermicompost only. But I would not dare put them in big plastic pot and with mustard cake. This means fungus for me. You must be keeping watering level in check.
Infact i dont use mustard cake, banana leaf etc all organic stuff all all.
Good to know you are diffen lover too..Your potting mix looks perfect and I too use that for many of my plants. I use Mustard cake powder because whenever I use, I can see changes in plants within 10-15 days. Really powerful :-) Don't use banana peels though..too much work..he he! Thank you for the video I'm having a lot of problem keeping this plant in good condition so I will follow your instructions. But one question is if I want to keep it indoors what should I use instead of garden soil?
You are most welcome and thank you so much for your feedback! In that, you can simply use Sand instead of normal garden soil. Generally, they are hardy plant and don't die easily. But obviously, they don't look attractive in all soil. If you like, you can also try a complete soil-less medium like 1/3 Peat Moss or Cocopeat, 1/3 Compost and 1/3 Perlite. We can do little bit here and there and it's okay. I have experience of growing many indoor plants in such soil mix with good result. I have a Dieffenbachia that's been sitting slightly under a grow light. The light is not directly on the Dieffen because of a huge peace lily plant that I have above it.
It's been about a week now since I watered my Dieffen and the soil is still moist to the touch. It's summer time here where i am and my apartment gets pretty warm. I decided to lightly mist my Dieffen yesterday and now today the leaves are turning brown on the edges and some leaves with brownish- yellow spots. Seems that i didnt have this issue until after I misted. Please help? This Dieffen is a new plant that I bought last week which I've also repotted and watered once. The soil is still moist-- like damp to touch not wet. Was misting a bad idea please help??!

I would recommend you to buy from any nearby nursery. Everything is available online too (on Amazon). But bit costlier, thank you!
I have a problem it have a littlt blackinsect i cant remove it the leaves are turning brown
It should be thrips as it's quite commonly found on plants like Dieffenbachia, Monstera etc. Please use some insecticide asap...or else, it may spreads to other plants too. Wish you all the best!

Sir my dumbcane plant is not growing now what should I do it's growth it's stopped now it's been a 1 and a half month now it's not growing 🤷🏻♂️ please tell me some solution for it 😔.
Does it have enough light? Do you give it plant food? Do you water it enough? Does it have insect pests? Usually those are the reasons plants stop growing. They need light, food, water, and no insect pests.
